Warm and welcoming staff. Very clean and COVID-19 safe — social distancing enforced, temperature and well check upon entry, hand washing before tour, sparkling clean bathrooms. The place is colorful and vibrant. The kiosks were fun and informative — you can design a spam bus and make a post card! They do an excellent job explaining the history, the community involvement, and how SPAM came to be the product it is today. The gift shop has everything from cutting boards to playing cards. You can get a $10 T-Shirt, not a bad price for a souvenir.I’m glad we saw the bill board and would recommend this little detour — did I mention — it’s FREE..!?!

I have never tried SPAM before, we stopped on our way home just on a whim, something fun to end our family road trip with. The employees were so nice, especially, Michelle. She had so much knowledge and shared that with fun stories and so much enthusiasm that you cant help but be drawn in. I tried SPAM for the first time after her encouragement, and its not that bad. Definitely a surprisingly fun detour.

The Spam museum is a fun and family friendly experience showing the history and development of the titular canned good. They detail how the company grew, display their early products, and even show the Spam products sold in different countries. One of the kiosks allows you to see different spam recipes and even email yourself the ones you enjoy. What makes it stand out to me is the amount of effort they have taken to remain covid friendly: they have put an occupancy limit, they take temperatures of guests as well as contact information to warn if someone there was infected around the time you were, and finally they will give sanitized styluses to use on the various touch screens in the building. Its nothing short of impressive. If you do visit, consider also visiting the book store across the street. Its very close, very cute, and has a little something for everyone.

If you like SPAM, this place is a great place to stop! Cool to see some of the history and how other countries have adopted the product. My wife may even try SPAM after this visit! Free entry and ability to purchase at their shop. Just dont expect samples or the availability of all varieties. They take their COVID-19 precautions seriously too.

This place is worth a stop. It probably isnt going to rock your world but there are some interesting tidbits you may not have known. The staff was super COVID-19 conscious. They do temp checks and contact info at the door for tracing purposes, then they have you wash your hands before touring the museum. They do have a capacity on how many people they are currently letting in, but it seemed like people were still getting in with a relatively short wait. The gift shop is a must visit and they have the usual array of corny gifts with SPAM plastered all over them. The good thing is that they dont charge an arm and a leg for them, they are pretty reasonably priced.

Who would have thought that there even was such a thing? Hormel has put together a wonderful little spot in the middle of Austin MN, pop about 20k. It has some fun stuff, such as a model of the assembly line where one can dress up as a line worker in a white kitchen factory smock. Bring your camera. The motorcycle that runs on pork fat is cute. I wonder if they ever start it? There is a first class play kitchen and climbing structure where a kid can be kept active for an hour or more w/o any adult effort. And it is free.A great place to take a kid for a while and then move on to one of the nearby eateries.

We made this a destination on a short road trip yesterday and it was definitely a fun little museum but you probably dont need to spend more than 2 hours TOPS. Its free which is nice and they pass out spam samples on a pretzel stick. Theres a lot of interesting stuff about Spam but also the Hormel corporation. It seems the museum also doubles as a place for interested investors to begin their research. Youll learn that Hormel is a genius at marketing and branding, even before World War II

First off, I was impressed with the Spam museums commitment to Covid protection. They were very thorough and followed the rules to the Tee. The museum was filled with interesting facts and graphics and had several interactive displays that unfortunately were unavailable due to covid. Even so... it was an enjoyable visit. We had two large family groups and most of the younger ones had never heard of Spam and werent particularly excited about the visit. Afterwards, we all agreed that it was much better than wed expected.Also... the SPAM store was great. Things were not ridiculously priced as you might have expected.Lastly... every member of the staff - whether the museum or the store - was extremely pleasant and helpful. This is a fun and funny place to visit. Entrance is free and lots of photo opportunities. Little education on the history of Hormel and of Spam. Gift shop with SPAM written on all the souvenirs - prices were real decent too. There is some fun things for small kids to do while there (similar to a childrens museum) and parking is great.
