This is, of course, a love affair with LBJ, but there was a lot to love. A truly great man, and this is an homage to him.But even if you dont like LBJ, the historical artifacts are mind-boggling.So many original documents and items, that it is really an education. Like many museums, if you really want to read everything, it would take you an entire day. But you really want to budget between 2 and 3 hours. It closes at 5 p.m. and they chase you out of there right at 5. We got there at 4 and didnt really get a chance to explore the top floor at all. We just had an opportunity to run through it. That floor is devoted to their life in the White House. You will especially enjoy it if you lived during this era, as it brings back so many memories. It is really beautifully done, and a must-see for a stay in Austin.

Loved this place! We spent quite a bit of time at the LBJ Presidential Library one day last October. The staff is super helpful and theres so much to take in. Im hooked following their page on Facebook now. The visit inspired us to visit the JFK Presidential Library in Boston the next month; FDRs is on our list for the next time were in New York state. The only negative was that the Lady Bird exhibit was closed due to unfortunate water damage.

On the outside an austere and somewhat forbidding structure, on the inside polished, grandiose, informative and here and there even playful. Indeed maybe a bit like LBJ himself. Popular items are the animatronic recreation of a humorous LBJ, the presidential limousine, the replica of the Oval Office in his days, and of course the exhibition about his wife, responsible for the many flowers along Texas highways. Overall very much worth while of your visit, even for a non-American.

Architecture of the building is amazing. Inside has a great atmosphere, as it is a large open atrium at one point. My favorite idea of the museum is that it relates bills signed into law into how they affect current everyday life. They could provide more detail, but it is something Ive not seen in other Presidential museums. The oval office is neat, and NASA is a personal favorite of mine, so it was awesome seeing a moon rock, and learning that LBJ sponsored the legislation in the Senate and President Eisenhower signed the law creating NASA. This is one of the better Presidential museums!

This was the first time Ive been to a presidential library, and it was such an amazing experience. The library also had a Motown event which had clips, fashion, and activities from the era. Highly recommend checking out the LBJ library!

The LBJ Library is a thoughtfully engaging museum incorporating not only the incredible accomplishments of President Johnson and Lady Bird, but the state of the world during the 1960s. From 5,000 hours of phone conversations to 45 million pages of historic documents, this museum gives in depth insight into the presidency of Lyndon B Johnson, as a president, family man, and social worker. There are plenty of interactive exhibits, videos, letters, and photos to keep you entertained throughout the three floors of the museum, finishing with the Oval office replica on the 10th floor.

While I cannot expect to speak to the museum overall, as a Longhorn who never visited the library while a student, I was impressed with the layout. Ive been to a number of presidential libraries, but the LBJ one ranks in the top-5.The main exhibits paint a fascinating picture of a single-term president who impacted the course of America more than most who serve for 8 years. The library doesnt gloss over LBJs vulnerability or his flaws, and it makes for a very human experience. The current temporary Motown exhibit is interesting, but pales in comparison to something like the blues museum in St. Louis.

While theyve done a very good job or telling LBJs story, the museum is tired looking. You can tell its been up for a long time and needs modernization. I was a teenager when LBJ was president so I wasnt glued to politics, so it was very helpful to see his accomplishments. They also do a nice job of reviewing Lady Birds accomplishments as well. A must for those who remember the 60s, although all of LBJs life is represented. This was a complex man, despite his aura of unflappable stability. Well worth the time to visit. The building is brutalist style. Imposing, strong and memorable, just like its namesake, LBJ. Very reasonable admissions price, good, informative displays, see the Oval Office as it was, the black limousine, and lots of history of the career of LBJ. Educational, well done. The only downside was the 10th floor has sustained a large water leak due to lack of roof maintenance. So 1/2 of the 10th floor was closed due to repairs.Historically, all info was chronological and even though I remember LBJ most as a war president, he was a fascinating, intelligent, accomplished president. LBJ is one of the more underappreciated Presidents, too often lost in the shadow of JFKs charisma, RFKs enmity, and Vietnam. So much of his lasting work in elevating the lives and circumstaces of the under-privleged, people for whom he had a genuine empathy, from Civil Rights, to Education, to Medicare, are today taken for granted, credited to others, or lost to history. The LBJ Presidential Library is by far my most favorite presidential library. It is not the flashiest library but in my opinion it is the one with the most soul. The library has a gorgeous view of the Derral K. Royal Memorial Stadium which is on the campus of University of Texas at Austin. This stadium is the 8th largest in the USA, so in a way you get to experiece two things for the price of one.Upon entering there a few people who will sell you tickets, the ticket prices are a follows:Adults: $10- Seniors (62 and over) with valid ID: $7- Former military with valid ID: $5- Youth 13-18: $3- College students with valid ID: $3Tickets are also available online, if you chose. There are complimentary entrace dates to the library for ALL, so you have no excuse not to go and experience the library and learn about LBJ and his wife Lady Bird. Bring tissues, there are some tear jerker moments.Free admission days:- Martin Luther King Day- Presidents Day- Explore UT- Memorial Day- The Fourth of July- August 27 (LBJs birthday)- Veterans Day (Free admission for all on Sunday, Nov. 11 and free admission for veterans on Monday, Nov. 12)- Austin Museum DayIn our experience it was suggested to us that we start at the top floor and make our way down to the first floor, and I think this suggestions was a great one. There is a phone that you could pick up and listen to Lady Bird give her husband (the president) advise on pose, posture and delivery. The rotunda in the library is breathtaking, you will for sure want to take insagram photos in this area. There are thousands of law books for research and artwork that is inspiring.I came out of the LBJ library with a hole in my heart, It made me realize at the country that once was and the country of today. Being stagnant is never good, change is envitable, but looking at the bus bench were Rosa Parks sat brought feelings of hope and disillusionment.I discoverd that before LBJ there was no PBS or Kennedy Center. He is the reason we have social security and his policies helped the middle class.I cant rememeber a day at school where we were taught the great change, and the man who took the pen and empowered all Americans. I cant remember ever learning about Lady Bird and her childrens commiment to excellence and the enviornment.Should you ever have the opportunity to visit this library, take it. I had to either dump it, drink it or put it back in my car. Its summer, and the temperature is steady at 100 degrees, if not higher... I have a 3 year old with me in a stroller, and we were parked far away, and had been walking all day. Hydration for my little one is a priority. I thought this rule about my water bottle for my family was an inconsiderate rule...They should be more considerate.Next, I went to pay for my ticket and the attendant at the desk was being rude to me as well.
