I recently reserved the Gulf Side Penthouse suite at the Don Cesar and wanted to share my experience.First and foremost, the Don Cesar has been one of my most favorite hotels. I have been going to the Don with my family since 1993. We used to have Easter there every year.You can ask any local of the Bay Area when Loews managed and owned this property it was managed meticulously until it was sold to Davidson Hotels and resorts.When I called to book the reservation I was interested in the Bayside Penthouse because it said it could accommodate more people as I wanted everyone in my family to have their own bed. The reservationist was helpful and directed me to the Gulfside penthouse because it had an amazing balcony and it was the nicest room in the entire hotel. She told me not to worry about the sleeping accommodations and it would be no issue for housekeeping to bring in a rollaway bed to accommodate bedding for all—something you can expect at even the lowest rated hotels. Everyone gets blankets and pillows-right? Well not in this case……The first night there I slept in the master bed room. Unfortunately for me, I was able to get about 1 hour of sleep. The master bedroom is literally right next to a service elevator where linen carts, room service trays and etc and rolled in and out-it sounded like they were rolling them around in the bedroom-the carts hit a lip threshold on the floor every time they are rolled leaving a loud banging noise occurring all night long. I usually sleep with the rain app(white noise application that helps with sleep) on my iPhone I turned it up all the way and could still hear the banging. I went down to the front desk at around 6am and tried to explain the issue and if I could speak with a manager…no one came out at first. Instead the representative came back from speaking to the manager and she said we will take 100.00 of. She did this with out asking my name, pulling up my profile, or even knowing what room I was in. I told her that taking 100.00 off a 7,000.00 reservation is unacceptable and to please get the manager. I had to beg a plead with her before she took 500.00 off the first night. Mind you…the room is around 3-4K per night. Although I feel I should have been comped the first night I wanted to enjoy my time with my family and friends so I let it go.The second night is what has bothered myself, family and friends most. We got back from dinner and were getting ready for bed when we noticed the roll a way bed was not brought up as promised. We called housekeeping and a bed was brought up with no sheets or bedding on it—yes that’s right just a mattress. It was for my nephew, Austin. When we called again to request the mattress be fitted with sheets, bedding and pillows….a valet driver arrived..YES a valet driver and he had nothing in his hands but a pillow. When we asked where the bedding was he said…”sorry guys that’s the best we can do, housekeeping already left for the night”. To me that is absolutely shameful that I had to pay 3K a night and sleep with out a blanket. As someone that has been in the hospitality industry for 20 years I am appalled at our experience. When I went down to talk to the Manager again it was a different person. He said he would make it right for us and we just got our credit card statement which reflects nothing was done for us to make amends. I will not be going back there until The Don Cesar and Davidson Hotels and Resorts makes this right. I miss Lowes. Our family misses those times very much. Unfortunately, at this time I can no longer recommend the Don Cesar. I have called numerous times and received no call back. I tried to call them one last time this morning before leaving this review but no one even answered the phone-not surprised.

Unethical leadership. Empty promises. Doesn’t have the best interest of their employees, especially during a world pandemic!
