There was a time when people of all ages could appreciate art from a multitude of perspectives, but ever since smartphones took over, people literally are paying $25-$50+ to gain entry into a art museum just to look at their phone the entire time. Do yourself and everyone else a favour and put your phone away. The High and everything else the Woodruff Arts Center has to offer is brilliant and incredible, you can go on your phone any time, going here is once every blue moon. Instagram: @nilsenio

Went here for a field trip last year. They have a variety of plays for different ages. Would recommend. We saw the Christmas Carol and a different play aimed towards kids in single mom homes. Both were well done.We enjoyed both plays very much. We recommend going when they have the field trips as this can be a cost effective way to get culture and arts intertwined into your instructional time. If you are part of the online charter schools in Georgia, ask when they are going.Parking can be a problem. Ride share, take the bus or walk from a nearby parking lot. Plan ahead.Plan to spend sometime before the show going to the bathrooms because everyone goes at the same time, and the lines can get a little long, and you can not go during the shows. The theaters are accessible for wheelchairs, but getting up/down the ramps may need an extra helper.

Beautiful gallery that had a wise variety of options to look at. The staff is also very helpful for knowing where certain exhibits are and how to get there. Theyre also not too imposing even though theyre surrounded by extremely valuable pieces of art. Ive lived in Atlanta for 15 years and this was my first time discovering this jewel in the city! Really, could spend all day here. I visited recently and enjoyed the Virgil Abloh exhibit. It was very modern. We see how he has influenced and been influenced by so many things and people of our time. I also liked the Sally Mann exhibit: A Thousand Crossings. So much history there.

What an amazing venue. There really isnt a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are spot on. The staff are very helpful from buying a glass of wine or a bottle of water to helping you find your seat or giving directions to the restroom. The entire place is very clean including restrooms. The area to mingle before and after a performance is large enough to accommodate everyone without the feeling of being squished in somewhere. Hang on to your person after the show though as its easy to lose someone in the crowd as everyone is leaving. Concerts, plays and ballets are always perfectly run. The perfect place for some cultural entertainment for the whole family. Wheelchair accessible.

I was only able to visit the High Museum at the Woodruff Arts Center, but its absolutely beautiful visit! On the second Sunday of every month, they allow free admission into the Museum. The Museum is split into levels with different themes on each floor; I personally loved their Modern and Contemporary Art level the most, although youll probably have to wait to take pictures in front of some pieces. Would definitely recommend as a cute date with friends or family!

Home to Symphony Hall, Alliance Theatre, and the High Museum of Art, which are all wonderful. The center is very pleasing to the eye and really stands out. There is an upscale restaurant on campus and a nice plaza at the center of everything, which often has some kind of art installation. Parking seems to fill up fast in the deck below the facility but there is another deck nearby and street parking if youre lucky.

We got tickets to the Halloween at Hogwarts performance and we very much enjoyed it. I wasn’t prepared for the Cinderella part and was a little put off by it but it was a very beautiful performance overall. Both of my daughters enjoyed the show with me as it was very family and kid-friendly! Loved seeing all the different costumes as well. This was my older daughters first live orchestra performance to attend (other than at her school where she performs with the orchestra) and she absolutely loved it! Definitely planning to go back for future performances.

The staff here is always very nice. Fellow attendees? Eh. I wish I could get people to stop talking during the performance. Im amazed at how often people will pay $80+ to not pay attention to the music. Oh, well - not too much the WAC can do (unless, of course, you can monitor this and kick people out :)...in all seriousness, though, Ive always enjoyed performances at Woodruff Arts Center.

On a whim, I visited Woodruff briefly to check out the EGOTS (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony, SAG Award) display, not knowing much about the exhibit, or that the symphony was going on at the same time. The staff was welcoming and informative and the venue was a good place to explore during a late-night walk. I will be back in the day when I can fully enjoy the high museum as well.

The exhibition draws its title from the 1977 New Yorker article that spurred Bearden to create the Profile series. Authored by Calvin Tomkins for the magazine’s “Profiles” section, the biographical essay, “Putting Something over Something Else,” was titled after Bearden’s own words describing the creative process. The experience of being interviewed for this article, and recounting moments stretching back to childhood, inspired Bearden to create his own word-and-picture elaborations on the decades of his life

I visited Woodruff Arts Center to attend a play in the Alliance Theatre. It was the third night performance of the opening of Angry, Raucous and Shamelessly Gorgeous envisioned, created and written by Pearl Cleage (...one of my favorite playwrights). This was my first visit to the Alliance stage since it was remodeled. The new theatre is new and modern...very aesthetically appealing. It was the perfect venue for the material. It made for a wonderful evening of powerful art that was magical in its inspiration. I look forward to attending many more events that encompass everything the Woodruff Arts Center offers to the discerning art enthusiast.

I go to this venue constantly, and it is truly wonderful. Excellent design and a spacious lobby equipped with high class food service. The orchestra, chorus, and theatre themselves are very skilled, and the hall is a beautiful space. The hall itself could definitely use more aisles, as I constantly have to deal with people sliding past me to get to the middle, however this is merely a minor annoyance, which is balanced out by the quality of the orchestra and the sound in the hall.

First time visiting the theatre for a show. Very nice facility! Comfortable - did not need the sweater I always bring! The only problem we had was finding our way around. We could not tell what door we needed to enter from outside, so we guessed. (Fortunately, it didnt matter.) Once inside, we could not find the box office! The signs inside are so small, you need to visual acuity of an eagle to find them, much less read them - especially if there are bodies obstructing the view of the tiny little sign on the wall, which I noticed as we passed by it after asking for directions. The show was great though, & overall, we enjoyed our visit!

So I was in the elevator at the Woodruff and I met the finance director or one of the people in those offices. I said does the Woodruff still have ?? keep in mind that this is Coca-Cola and they run three quarters of the city from the airport on up.Anyway to her credit she looked into the distance and thought for a minute. Then she looked at me and smiled and said well yes!Dont skip the symphony and dont skip the high museum. If you feel like acting out at the symphony and you want to wear your see-through dress with your strapless heels and whatever thats cool oh, one of my dates did that and it was a lot of fun. Going to rehearsals and stuff like that is also highly recommended. Do not make noise. The High museum (high.org) is also a treasure. Recently theyve taken on a very very serious Civil Rights turn and when I say recently I mean the past 10 to 15 years so for juneteenth this year (2019) they just knocked it out of the park. I dont know when youre reading this book currently African has moved from the bottom to the top floor and photography is where African used to be. Each of those is a global class collection. The Thornton Dials are out now.

We went to the John McLaughlin concert here right before the holidays. The venue was beautifully decorated with a very large Christmas tree in the center. We have been here for many concerts but the Center seemed particularly attractive on this evening. The venue itself is very open and airy with large staircases (and elevators) to the balcony level. There is seating in groups on the main floor and there are always three bars on the main level and 1 or 2 on the balcony level. There are two tiny womens bathrooms on the main level and one large one on the balcony level. The Center is always quite clean.
