A spectacular small scale theater. Every seat is excellent. Arrive early as parking nearby can be difficult to find when other shows are running at the same time.

We saw Between Two Knees. All of the seats are close to the stage so all are fine. From my perspective as a white woman with US ancestors dating back to the colonies, Im glad Larry told us it was ok to laugh. I thought it was a good show. An lot of historical info (missing from the history books) was presented with a great deal of humor. Second half is darker than the first but dont leave early and miss the explosion. You cant help but squirm a little for acts of our ancestors, but the show moves quickly and finishes with a fun upbeat song.

This is one of the Ashland theaters, all of which are top notch. The Thomas is a small venue, sort of a theater in the half round where the viewer is very close to the actors. The plays are excellent and very professionally staged. I would highly recommend this theater or any of the shows at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

The Thomas Theater at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival is one of the most outstanding venues for live theater anywhere. It is state of the art, versatile, and very comfortable. Every production we have seen there has been a real treat.

Enjoyed my first live theatre. Newer building though the seating is designed badly. Hard to find seat and not enough aisles. Had to stand up every time someone wanted in/out. No legroom! Parking is very limited.

One might think in this ADD digital age that it would be hard for a dozen actors to hold ones attention for 2 hours and 35 minutes with very minimal props, costumes and special effects/sound - not so with The Ashland Shakespeare Companys performance of Henry the Vth. Timely message about the challenges of true leadership and an all star performance by this cast. King Harry gives a standout performance.

We saw an incredibly enjoyable Richard II here with the audience configured in three-quarter round. Even clocking in the neighborhood of 3 hours I was never bored which is a feat for me in any live performance, and a miracle for Shakespeare. The technical aspects (false floors, sound system, etc.) of this theater are perfect and allow for massive amounts of enthralling and surprising tricks that aid the story without stealing attention.

All of this seasons productions were configured in three-quarter thrust--not quite theater-in-the-round, but still a good, intimate setting for what Ive seen this year, Henry V, and Manahatta.

We saw Hannah and the Dread Gazebo here, the stage is small but it was very well utilized for the production. The back drop wall weighs about 8 metric tonnes and must be assembled and disassembled nightly. They theatre foyer was modern and upscale, and with a beautiful sitting area outside the theatre doors for viewers to sit and wait. This particular play was done very well using the tiny stage thanks to all the lighting work. Despite the story require different settings, ie from America to Seoul, subway VS roof top.. All was present on the same tiny stage. How you may ask? Thanks to the wonderful effects, sound and lighting audience members knew just where to look and pay attention and they become fully immersed into the story where you know exactly what is happening and where they are in each scene. Unfortunately, no pictures were allowed.

The Thomas theater in Ashland is a great venue for the Performing Arts its casual the seeding is unique and near Interactive.I did get an opportunity to talk to one of the volunteers about the smoke from the wildfires and whether it had caused a lower attendance. His answer was interesting he stated that people were no longer lingering outside the theater doors talking and sharing stories but going immediately inside and taking their seats. Most of the people who work there as well as the volunteers are more than comfortable talking and sharing their experiences and thoughts about the theater as well as the area. Weve gotten great advice for experiences beyond the Ashland area from wine tastings 2 hikes.People go to Ashland mostly for the theater but I think they go back the second and third time and beyond that because of the kindness of the volunteers and the people of Ashland the restaurant tours and hotel people who are always nice and kind and caring Ashlands a wonderful place.
