A scenic hike with little elevation gain. About 45-50 minutes to Bull Gap and another 45 to Rattlesnake Lodge. Very foggy today but that just made it that much more fun after 2 days of rain. And considering all the rain not that muddy although wet leaves made it a little dangerous.

This is a beautiful trail through the woods. Lots of elevation changes to get a light workout in. I would say this is easy to moderate. Keep in mind that the mountain views are mostly limited except for a few partially visible overlooks. Its more just beautiful nature. We went about 2-3 miles in and returned. Great for a quick afternoon hike. Unless you are specifically looking for clear visibility, this is a great option.

Moderate hike close to town. Dog friendly. Some up and downs enough to get the heart rate up. But all along the parkway and you can always hear the cars. Modern foot trafic with other hikers.

Craven Gap Trail is part of the MTS trail. Trail was well maintained and this portion of the elevation wasnt that difficult. Great canopy of trees during the summer to help shield from the sun and heat.

This was my first love when I moved to Asheville in 2018. I first hiked this trail and it opened up a world of possibilities to the wonderful hiking in the blue ridge mountains. It has some great views and some challenging spots, but overall it is a moderate hike from point to point. I still go back to hike this trail often.

Its a good hike, but like others have said theres no real payoff/views. However youll find some streams and interesting trees and plantlife. It would be a great trail for trail runners. There are some switchbacks and changes in terrain and elevation which keeps it interesting! Its also not very crowded so if youre looking to avoid people or tourists this is a great trail for that. I went on a Saturday in July (today) around noon and i had the trail to myself for the majority of the time. Downside is you hear traffic from the Blue ridge Parkway. Overall nice trail and nice getaway from the city without having to drive too far

From Cravens to lane pinnacle it is closer to 8 miles one way. It is beautiful but extremely tough especially after rattlesnake lodge. The climb before rattlesnake is meandering with a few ups and downs but past that it is mostly uphill with a decent grade.

Great trail to have an all day in the mountians hike. Met some interesting and kind people along the trail. Make sure to wear outdoor shoes/boots being as the trail sometimes turns to mud after it rains in some sections.

Very nice trail that follows along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Best we can tell it was an out and back not a loop. Well groomed and marked. About 2 miles to Bulls Gap and cross the road for another .5 miles to the other parking area. You’ll see the remains of the log cabin on the right and up hill as you approach that second parking area. Turn around and double back for a nice 5 mile hike w some good ups and downs.

Great hike. Tons of flowers this time of year, I started at the parking lot and hiked to the ruins and made the steep loop that takes you down to the parkway again near the tunnel. If You go this way and back, its 9.3 mi. Great workout, and rarely too crowded once you get going.

We met the caretaker of the trail as we started our hike. We would like him to know what an amazing job he has done in caring for, and improving the trails. Many small details were seen throughout the hike. Beautifully done!

This would be a great trail for the fall - when the leaves change colors - or in the spring - when the flowers are blooming. In summer, its a nice shady hike that isnt too strenuous - but there arent any great views. Its also possible to go quite far on the trail as well!

My wife and I had an enjoyable short hike on the trail. We stopped by the creek and enjoyed a snack. The views were nice when you could see through the foliage. It does not offer the silent calm of nature as you hike alongside the Blue Ridge Parkway. Its close by , so we can take a short trip to get outside. If this was helpful, please hit the thumbs up like.
