Absolutely magical!!! The beauty and the architecture were breathtaking but listening to the audio tour describe every room we went through was icing on the cake! We left and couldnt stop talking about it on the hour drive back to the cabin. Yes, its worth the price and yes, its worth the extra $15 for the audio tour!!!!Dont forget your free wine tasting too!! (You have to reserve it once you arrive) Our bartender (John I believe) was incredibly friendly and personable not mention answered all of our questions about different types of wines. He even helped pick out our list of tastings he thought we each enjoy based on what we told him we each liked!5 stars all the way around!! Only thing I would do differently is try to go at night next time! They say the Christmas lights are incomparable.!!

This is quite a place. You feel like you’re visiting a European castle with a little more wood paneling. We did the candlelit evening tour, but I would have preferred a day time visit. The lights were nice, but it would have been fun to see the views from inside the home as we were touring the rooms. We did go back the next day to see the grounds. There are no restroom facilities in the mansion, but there is easy access to facilities in the stable shops close to the entrance. It was pretty cold and windy, so we didn’t explore as much as we would have done on a milder day. I will say that as grand as this home is, I still prefer the smaller mansions, or “cottages” as they were called,on the cliff walk in Newport, Rhode Island. It’s very easy and fast to get to the estate parking, but only parking lot C has a trolley to the mansion. Keep in mind if you’ve got reservations for lunch or dinner after leaving the estate grounds, it takes almost 20 minutes to get off the property. Plan accordingly!

Beautiful historic home to see and the main tourist attraction in Asheville. It is the largest privately owned residence in America but it looks like a castle from Europe. The inside of the home is rich with history and it’s amazing that a home of this stature was made over 125 years ago. I would highly suggest getting the audio tour guide as it tells you a lot of the history of the home that you would miss doing a self guided tour. The gardens are gorgeous and huge. There are shops and cafes next to the estate so you can stop and have a bite. You can spend a whole day here.

I last visited during Christmas, although not the Candlelight tour. Be prepared for lots of walking and stair climbing! Downstairs is quite warm. Loved how beautiful the fog set after the rain as we traveled over to the village for shopping. Such an incredible experience. Amazing is a very overly used word so just think you are coming to a magnificent property with many more of what you asked for.Be mindful here. This house is incredible. My wife and 3 kids loved it. We were all in awe of the attention to detail of this place. I would recommend trying to make a full day of the house grounds and Antler Village. We asked questions like of how many windows does the house have. How big was Mr. Biltmore book collection, how many sqft is the house. The staff was knowledgeable and extremely helpful. It was a fun all around experience. I would also recommend eating at The Stable Cafe there at the house. It was a great experience too. Reservations are recommended because we made a walk up reservation for a family of five and it took us roughly an hour and twenty minutes to be seated. Even with the long wait it was worth it for sure. So be sure to make a reservation ahead of time. Overall it was worth the price of the admission and next time we come back we will purchase tickets for an earlier time. There are several souvenirs hops and there is wine you can taste test too. They had the entire house decorated in beautiful decor and it was a magnificent sight. We have come here before, not during the holidays and it is still very nice and much warmer but I think I prefer the holidays. At the time, they also had multiple choral groups and a mini orchestra playing/singing live and beautiful music. This is definitely a must see! They have multiple Christmas trees all around and lots of lights to get some pretty cool shots with. It does get pretty chilly so bring a coat. There are 2 parts to Biltmore that I visited. The estate itself is beautiful , the house is big enough, view is excellent. The gardens were awful. I understand the flowers bloom at different seasons but maybe thats what was needed there. The gardens were empty. Seems like the ground work for new flowers were there and that was it. They have a conservatory where there is an ecosystem for different type of plants but you have to go there and see it. It was good. Not all that great. But the gardens was a massive fail. Overall, very gorgeous place and nice to walk around. We came on a Thursday just right before the Christmas started at Biltmore but the Christmas decoration was already up. We went early November and a little past peak fall season. Barely any flowers in the garden. It was $84 per person to get in and it would be $104 per person on Friday through Sunday, so thats why we went on a Thursday. I would give a 5 star for being such a nice and gorgeous place. But it is way too expensive. I was debating whether to give a 3 or 4 stars for the rating just because of the price. I love to travel. We went to Versailles Palace in Paris and it is only half the price of Biltmore to get in. The price is about as expensive as going to Disneyworld I think its a bit ridiculous. We spent about 4 hours (less than an hour just inside the house). Their rules for COVID-19 inside the house is excellent. I would recommend going to Biltmore but not something I would revisit if we go back to Asheville just because of the price.

The Biltmore is a beautiful place with great aesthetics. The reason I gave this place 4 stars is they sell out of tickets for the tours SUPER fast. Make sure to pre-purchase your tickets online before venturing there. (Oops) I was able to access the exterior (still very pricey) and it was fairly crowded. The social distancing makes the lines long/slow moving and kind of takes away from enjoying the property. I believe once covid restrictions ease up will make the Biltmore a place i would visit again for the price and hassle of the crowds. The gardens were surreal and a dream and the building is rich in history. The art and sculptures are profoundly mesmerizing. The lights were dreamy at night, def a must see.All in all, if you visit the Biltmore, make sure you have lots of money to drop for tours, lodging, food, smores, wine, etc. Or bring a basket and have picnics in the gardens and stay in a cheaper hotel off the resort. You can bring your dog (on a leash or in a stroller ) , bikes, scooter, etc. The paths are rocky for the most part in the gardens but have more paved paths near the lodge. Theres lots of space to run but keep in mind the inclines and declines. The workers were extremely nice and pleasant.

Prior to my visit to Asheville, everyone and their mothers told me to make a trip to the Biltmore. I’m not one to really enjoy tourist (traps) destinations like this but I impulsively bought tickets as I didn’t have plans for the day.Pros: Mansion and gardens were obviously beautiful. The Christmas decorations were up and that was nice. The ticket included free wine tasting in the village which was lovely. You have to make a reservation once you get to the winery but they had plenty of openings for the afternoon.Cons: Way too pricey, $30-50 range would be more reasonable for what you get. Trails weren’t marked well and we got lost (maybe user error?). Also there are still a lot of people allowed in the house during COVID, most of clientele appearing 65+ (is this smartest place to go right now? Prob nah)

Due to covid restrictions, they werent able to include all the previous areas, including the servants quarters. So a few things wed have loved to have seen were left out. We used the audio addition, and it enhanced the tour well. It felt a little rushed by others behind us due to a few narrow passages. There are a lot of stairs. Personal heath should be considered before going. We also toured much of the gardens. These would be best enjoyed in the Spring and Summer, but there was enough in bloom to enjoy now.We had planned to see the Downton Abbey exhibit, but the line moved too slowly for us, so we gave up our spots after about 25 minutes of waiting. But today was the last day and a holiday, so this wasnt a staff issue or any other problem. We would like to come again sometime during the Christmas or Spring season and take a behind scenes or roof top tour. More activities available in the village and the grounds we could have enjoyed had we another day to spare, but overall a great experience.

The grounds were beautiful, and I loved the flowers in the Conservatory! The decorations for Christmas were stunning! I took a star of because the entire house is not ADA accessible. While the elevator (the original elevator btw) still runs and can be taken to all floors, regulations restrict access to the first and second floors. As such, this who are other asked cant get to the basement or third and fourth floors. This was very disappointing as I really wanted to see the kitchen, pool, bowling alley, etc. They do show you a movie of what you miss, but thats not the same. So you have to wait in a lobby area while the rest of your group finishes the tour. Then they have to come back inside to collect you. This is not only embarrassing, but there has to be a better more convenient way to handle this. I do have to say they do give you $10 off since you miss 3 of 5 floors (Im not sure thats a fair compensation however). Anyway, I realize they have no control over regulations, but they need to find a better way to handle the procedure, and the $10 discount isnt really fair compensation. Thats just my opinion.

I am not a history buff, but it was so fascinating!!!! Worth the few extra bucks! We didnt get to go through the gardens as much as I would like. If you can, stay for sunset. Wow! Go around to the side left side of the house (if facing). Bring a picnic basket and throw and sit on the beautiful ground next the the house. The grounds are HUGE, give yourself time to drive miles to get the other sections (winery vs. the house)If you find this useful, please like :)

Overall really enjoyed my time here. Obviously youre there to appreciate the grounds and the incredible extravagance of the place. Theres certainly a sense of helping the rich get richer, which you unfortunately have to put aside to enjoy it fully, but the experience there was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly staff who were respectful and enforced the COVID regulations. Still were able to enjoy lots of things here, from the beautiful flower gardens to the house itself. Even had some pleasant wine tasting in there as well (our guide for that was incredibly friendly and really made it a highlight of our visit). I could see locals really taking advantage of an annual pass here to just come picnic and enjoy the grounds midweek. A bit like Hearst castle but more laid-back and frankly prettier grounds.

The grounds are wonderful, the gardens amazing. The estate self guided tour allows for an intimate look inside the grand home. Unfortunately, many of the rooms, such as the library, were being decorated for the holiday so the view of the room was of decorators and ladders and cardboard boxes taking the place of the furniture pieces. The tour price is very pricey - maybe for the price, the decorating could be done after your hours.

This is a lovely home & garden. I visited in early October & the weather was spectacular, which is a good thing if you want to walk through the gardens & even down to the lake. It can be a bit of an arduous walk back to the house but take your time & take breaks & youll be fine. The house itself is well preserved & the staff is professional & friendly. I would recommend the audio tour so that you can hear about each room in the house as you walk through it. Make your reservations early via the website. Bags are not allowed in the house but they provide gallon sized Ziplocs & free lockers to stow away your stuff. There is a shopping area next to the house with bathrooms (there are no public ones in the house), cafes & shops. The winery is about a 10 minute drive away & they offer complimentary tastings. You do have to go to the winery & make your reservation in person.

The tours are a bit overpriced for what it is, let alone, if youre going to visit youre going to spend money in several different places all together on site but otherwise still a lovely experienceb not only for the history but the food and crafts are amazing. Definitely making multiple trips back to get it all in.
