It was a great season, but in a playoff game the referee quit on us on the spot because he thought our player said something to him which he did not, therefore we had to end our season because the referee quit on us, then we sat for 2 hours while we waited for the athletic director to give us a reasoning which he couldn’t in the end, so we sat there for 2 and a half hours while we could have been productive, I’m very disappointed

I have used the Duncan YMCA for close to 20 years. The staff has always been very nice and accommodating and helpful. Many classes are offered for all age groups and activities. This Y is busy all the time, so that must tell you something..!! Operating from 5am to 9pm is a lot of expense for staffing and facility maintenance, hence the user fees, which are very reasonable. Plus, if you are in real need financially, the Y has scholarships available. Many naysayers frequent these comment sites. The Duncan YMCA is a real blessing to have in the Arvada and surrounding community. Thx you YMCA. David J Burry

I am full of smiles every time I make it into the YMCA doors. This gym is more then a gym, its a community! I am so happy my family and I have such a wonderful place to maintain our health and wellness.

Highly recommend the childcare of this YMCA. I’ve put my infant there for a couple of days while I was visiting Denver. Roubhie is excellent; she’s very helpful and accommodating.

Editing to add:Unparalleled kindness from staff on this cold, snowy night, October 29th. Despite an early closing due to the weather, Amanda went so completely out of her way to help, I feel it needs to be acknowledged here. Thank you again. I’m warmed in more ways than one!Original review:I haven’t been going to this YMCA for long but I have no idea why anybody would complain about any of the staff I’ve encountered so far. Everyone has seemed friendly and polite and unfailingly (again, so far) greets you when you go in the door. The facilities compared to YMCAs I have seen in the past are fantastic. I love that the weight room and the treadmills have window views, And when it’s raining I can hackysack in one of the unused basketball courts or studios. You just can’t beat it for the price, even as a single adult. Pool, hello! Other perks include a whirlpool, steam room, and coffee, though for all I know those have become standard. At any rate, I recommend giving this place visit so you can see for yourself that it’s just dandy. :)

The staff are polite. However, the people they let in are very rude. Over the past several years attending this gym I have been continuously harassed and have been insulted with several remarks that should not have been tolerated. I would have rated this review with five stars, but with the treatment I have received and with no staff around to report it to, this gym only deserves two stars.

Out of towers visiting CO. Everyone was really helpful and friendly! If we lived near this location we would definitely come here. They have shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, cotton balls, q tips in the locker rooms! Only went into the pool and the staff was really kind! Would highly recommend!

The best YMCA I have seen so far. I live far south but frequently travel up to Denver for outdoor activities. Today, one my way back from hiking up in the mountains, I wanted to check this place out. I should say I was totally impressed.First, as a YMCA member I thought I can visit any Y within the state for free but the front desk folks informed me that I can go to any Y for free Nationwide. They made sure I wont have any troubles signing in to any Y anywhere in the nation.Second, I am totally awestruck by the amenities in addition to the usual facilities, they provide in the locker rooms - fresh towels, shampoo, body lotion, after shave, shaving foam, what not.I would go there everyday if I am living in that area.

If you want to go to the YMCA or do anything there and you are not a member, good luck dont waste your time. They only allow you to go in if you are a YMCA member. Staff was very rude about it. Super unhappy with my experience. Youre a freaking Rec Center let the community use you without trying to squeeze every single penny out of me. Apex is closed, so I tried to use this facility but they only care about money and not their community. Very unhappy.

Dont get foolishThis is not a family place. They charge family membership almost double but the family areas are extremely poorly and discriminated when you compare to the adults and the elderly roomsIf you complain, they will ignore and be really mean to you and to your child but if it is an elderly they will immediately they actionPool is high in chlorine, people do not shower before using the pool and the family bathroom, that is also for individuals with disabilities and all sexes, does not have the same amenities as the adult and elderly roomsYou will pay the family membership to subside the elderly rate and get less of a facility area to use and with poor maintenanceThere are other rec centers that charge the same but more and better family-based amenities

I’m writing to counter the long winded negative review prior to mine. It’s totally unfair. If you’ve ever visited any other YMCA you would know this has got to be one of the best. It’s a nonprofit, not a high-end swanky club. Yet it has many of the extra’s you would find at a place three times the cost. They have been highlighted in other reviews.Regarding the daycare; these people actually care about the kids that attend. They do their best to maintain a clean and professional environment and it shows. I have twins that they take care of several times a week and my only complaint is that we can’t send them there more.

My family and I (kids, wife, parents) have been members for 10+ years. The Y is a great place for whatever you need in health and wellness -- gym, pool, pilates, exercise classes, kids sports, child watch, swim lessons. There is also a social aspect for both the over 50 crowd and younger families.Gyms come and go, community focal points are much harder to find, and at the value the Y offers, not sure why anyone goes anywhere else.

Unsafe and unprofessional daycare center. It is only a matter of time before a child is seriously hurt there.Interestingly I logged on to write a warning to the parents about the child care facility.. and I saw another parent with the same complaints.I have no issue with the gym side of the house. My serious concern is with the daycare. I have been taking my kids here for about a year. 90% of the time the workers seem frazzled and stressed, but I have (shamefully) told myself since it’s only a short visit and they are happy enough when I pick them up, I’ll keep going as it seems I’m the only one unhappy. I have also tried to talk to the daycare supervisor about the unhappy nature of her employees, and been given the brush off, I have also seen her berate her employees in front of other parents. Another time i tried to address it with her, she told me the employee was short and rude to me “probably because of the way I talked to her”- horrible customer service. The one time everyone seemed cheerful and professional- was when the manager was on vacation. She needs to get trained on customer service and how to treat employees, or leave. She’s more like I imagine a jail warden than a day care manager.Well, it all came to a head one day when I brought my kids in and was running off to an appointment. It was extremely hot in there, so I unzipped the babys body suit and asked the worker to zip him back up when they get the heat under control. The response...? “Yeah, if I get time.” There was two other toddlers in there quietly playing with each other- so not like she had her hands full. Nothing should take priority over the care of children except emergencies. Reconsidering my departure, I asked her what is so pressing that she might not have time to zip him up. She responded she was given many tasks to prepare the Center for some party they were having that night and then said she would do it if it cooled off.Well- it didn’t end there. I returned- and my one son had been left in soiled pants after AJ accident (he’s recently potty trained), and my infant had apparently gotten hungry- but was being fed while in his car seat, unbuckled, and slumped at the bottom!!!! Clearly a safety hazard, and to boot- the manager was in the room as this was happening and said NOTHING- she was just fluttering about the room preparing for the party. Priorities?? The gal feeding him wasn’t even looking at him as she fed him and he was covered in formula and coughing. I took over at that point and cleaned them both and finished feeding my son. As I left- I tried again to talk to the manager about the safety concern I saw and she told me- while looking over her shoulder at me and not even making eye contact, like I was a nuisance to her- that she didn’t have time for me, they were getting ready for a party. That night my son’s cough got worse and worse- I ended up taking him to the ER where they told me he had fluid and swelling in his lungs, and asked me if he had aspirated any fluids that day. Of course i thought back to the careless unsafe incompetent feeding he experienced earlier. He has since recovered- but it is HIGHLY likely their negligent care caused this.I promptly withdrew my children from the day care, and requested a refund of all deposits. No questions were asked as to why I was leaving- it was like they didn’t care. After a month of inaction by the staff after i brought this to their attention- I decided to cancel my entire family’s membership to the Y and again- no calls, no questions as to why I was leaving. I even indicated on my cancellation paperwork why I was leaving.Based on my experience and the other reviews I’ve heard and read- They just don’t care.

The staff is completely unable/unwilling to help with registration for camps/classes. They will redirect you to the website and have no clue what is actually available there. Poor excuse for a community inclusive facility.
