I loved this place. We needed to kill some time so found this preserve and explored some of ut. It was a piece of lovely, rugged nature in the middle of the city. The trails are like paths and not very well marked but the air was fresh and clean. I walked it in flats and didnt have a problem. We didnt stumble across many people on the trails.

Great peaceful place for your young kids to learn the basics of fishing and casting a line. Lots of little perches and catfish... no big fish because it is a small pond. Perfect for beginners!

This place is great, and they had the service if you are needed. Southwest Nature Preserves is big, and wonderful atmosphere here for the entire family. Especially for kids entertainment, kids can have a wonderful party here. Food is good and facility is nice. It’s clean, comfortable place. Staff was helpful.

The south pond at The Southwest Nature Preserve has a wide sidewalk from the parking lot that leads to a spacious deck. The pond is stocked with pan fish that love live worms on bobbers. This is perfect for teaching new anglers.

This place is nice and quiet. It is a good place to take a hike. Even though it is close to the highway you wouldnt know it. The trail wasnt too hard for an inexperienced hiker like me. The dog loved it too. Just make sure you bring water because there are no fountains on the nature trail, just at the beginning near the parking lot.

Nice place for a walk. I’m from PA, and this place definitely helped fill my need for nature. It’s close to the highway- so you do hear some of that. But otherwise I thought it was a beautiful and fun trail with lots of smaller trails in between. Can’t wait to go back when the foliage is fuller!

I took my toddler on a hike here and it was perfect for her. The loop around Kennedale Mountain (yes, mountain, the sign says so) was about a mile according to my Garmin. Elevation change was ~60 feet so you get a little workout in but its not too strenuous. And hey, you get to say you summited a mountain. ;)One thing that needs improvement is better trail markers. Only one trail had arrows indicating direction and the arrows werent labeled so I had no idea which trail I was on. At least its small enough that if you get lost youll stumble back across the right path soon enough.Overall it was a great little adventure and Ill be taking my daughter back often.

Usually too crowded and I have to go off of the trail into the brush with my dog, so people can walk by every few minutes. And there are always people on the dock and leaving trash there and on the trails. I always take a plastic bag and pick up what I can. Especially the broken glass, since dogs and children could get hurt.

I really enjoyed this park. They had plenty of trail options and I liked that they had some none cement trails. The wildflowers here are gorgeous and the park is far enough from the road there is almost no traffic noise. Plus, there are bathrooms and a nature center at the front. Occasionally they have classes at the center.

A great place to hike as well as fish. My husband loves doing some catch-and release-fishing here when we have time. The little hiking trails they have make for a pretty walk as well. I wish there were more shaded areas by the fishing/pond docks, but it is a pretty nature preserve none the less.

Just on the western edge of Arlington, Texas, near Kennedale, this small preserve has very nice walking trails and several ponds where you can do some catch and release fishing. The southeast corner of the preserve is a high-elevated knob that forms a shelf of red rock. Its the perfect place to rest or picnic and while looking over the treetops at a beautiful view of Fort Worth in the distance. The main trails are well defined, and it appears that there are more trails in development. There are three or four ponds where you can fish, and my son and I caught several Bluegills around the pier of the southernmost pond. The water was fairly clear in all the ponds, and we could see several fairly large Bluegills lazing around weed beds in the largest pond from the shore. When I took my family yesterday (mid November), the park was very clean and well maintained. If you want quiet family time in nature and live in around Arlington or eastern Fort Worth, but you dont want to drive too far or pay a mint for entry fees, give this nice little preserve a try. Theres plenty of nature to see, and fish to catch (and release!).
