Beautiful prairie hike with many wild flowers. Not for casual hiker, paths are rough cut and steep with loose rock. Trails have chest high grasses growing over the path (which adds to the fun). Wear long pants and wear bug spray (for ticks, did not see mosquitoes or gnats). Really fun hike.

Short trails but a good work out with lots of inclines and declines and amazing views. Very fun and unique. Trails do become overgrown so Id recommend long pants and bug spray.

Beautiful area to hike, however some trails are a tad overgrown. Still had a blast pushing through the tall grass.

Nice hike, great views and perfect for photos. Could use a parking lot though. You have to park on the shoulder on Wilmot Rd so be careful with that.

I used to love this place. But this year they have not maintained the trails at all. Therefore, they are so overgrown its not even enjoyable to hike here. The burrs are terrible, I wouldnt bring a dog with long hair here as my short hair was covered and so was I. Its really unfortunate, it used to be a great place to hike. Now there are places that the brush is 7 to 8 feet tall.

Best hiking trails around. Skinny trails with LOTS of woods, never many people there so you usually have it to yourself.

Love that we got a place to hike around. Beautiful in spring. Bushes overtake trail and lots of bugs in summer. Have to park on the side of the road.

Very poorly kept trails, nearly wiped out mountain biking as one trail changes from downhill grass to rocks on a sharp curve. Bugs were terrible, little to no trails. Awful for biking, hiking might not be too bad. Would not recommend.

A perfect place to get away from everyone...chances are that you won’t meet anyone here during your visit. The landscape consists of high hills and deep vales...great for exercise !This Forest Preserve is adjacent to the Wilmot Ski and Tubing Area. One con.... no official parking area, and parking can be iffy after a rain or if there is snow on the ground.

Great place to hike, with the more primitive trails makes this place closer to nature. It has great views and a lot of glacial features. Only the parking holds this place from being 5 stars.

This is a great place to take dogs for a walk. The parking is very limited, and its tough to get in and out of from the main street. There are some very nice trails that run along the ski resort. Make sure you have a good pair of hiking shoes on, the train can be fairly steep.

Probably one of the best options for hiking with elevation change around the north / northwest Chicago suburbs. Everywhere else is so flat. Much of the loop trail is heavily overgrown in the summer, so a trail map app on your phone is essential or you may get lost.

Had a great time, very few people. Paths are pretty overgrown and we ran into a bunch of dead ends. But quite beautiful and some good hills.

Walk my pup here, I love that its overgrown. Dont listen to the people that complain about how unkempt it is. The trails are pretty much open except the areas that they allow to let the native Grasses grow, which btw are pretty cool to walk through! Two options that i have found; going clockwise the first 90 deg left turn goes over the mountain and back to your car. Can be tick problems in the summer, just use spray and react accordingly! If you are walking your dog in this environment frontline will keep the bugs off your pet. Burrs? just pick them off This is not a trail for strolls in the park. Enjoy

Very secluded. The trails are too overgrownto form a loop like the maps show unless you want to roll the dice with thorns, etc. The elevation changes are great treatand some nice views of the ski mountain to the north can be seen.

This has been my favorite hiking locale since I discovered it so many, many years ago! I absolutely love it! I feel like its my personal playground.....rarely run into others on the trails.

Love this place. Its great for trail running early in the year, but the trails are not well maintained so by July the thorns and overgrowth make it difficult.
