One of my favorite rides in the park. It feels like a true roller coaster and it doesn’t hurt to sit in it like other rides. The line can be long so I try to do this ride early in the day or at the end of the day as it feels good to ride. Standing in line in the middle of the day in the summer can be a hot time.

Ive taken my daughter here since she was born....shes now almost 7 and still loves it. Today I took her and she ran around, not even being able to decide which fun thing to do first. Its $10 to get in which is a super good deal considering my daughter played for 3 hours straight, rode the train, rode the carousel a few times, did the ferris wheel a bunch.

This is definitely one of the greatest rides in Disneyland! The effects that are inside of the ride are amazing and immersive, the settings that the ride is set in are very detailed, there are amazing thrills, the ride is suitable for children, the seats are comfortable, the restraints don’t hurt, the staff are extremely friendly, and overall this ride is absolutely amazing!

This is a great ride in Disneyland! The setting of the ride is done really well so you really feel like youre on a rail cart in the Old West. The staff are friendly and accommodating, and the line passes right next to the ride so you can watch other people enjoying themselves while you wait. This is one of my familys go-to rides in the park; great for the whole family!

Another one of Disney’s great attractions. This is great fast pass ride. Normal wait times are 40-70 minutes. But the fast pass is normally 15-20 minutes. The line isn’t a bad one if you decide to do the normal line. It has a decent amount of shade and the ride decorations are simple but make it fun. It’s better to ride at night and get the back row if you can.

You know, this is one of the all time best rides at Disneyland. I have been riding it since it came out. Yes all of the refurbishments have slowed the ride down (safely Im sure) but it is still awesome.The goat with the TNT is the best

Great coaster! Great story!Opened in 1979.Check out the decor as you are waiting in line. Line moves pretty quickly. There are 5 train cars with 3 rows of seats. Each seat can take 2 adults, or you can squeeze in 3 if you have kids.The ride goes pretty quick around turns so watch out as you slide around on the seat!No single rider line but there are Fast Passes.Cool fact...check out the animatronic animals on the ride. Many of them are leftover from Mine Train Through Natures Wonderland, which was located in the same location.

Five out of five stars! This is my favorite ride at Disneyland. This is what I will go on first when I return to Disneyland. if you have the chance, go on this!

Big Thunder is fun, but will either slam you up against the side of the car or the person next to you! Definitely one of those rides that just gets painful as you get older. But its an amazing, well maintained classic.

Nice details on the ride. Lots of twists and turns but no really big drops... like in splash mountain. The wait wasnt bad. Lots of shady areas. Good place to use a fast pass.

Great runaway train classic roller coaster at Disneyland!Part inside, part outside.3 lifts creating these really nice breaks throughout the ride.It’s fast, but not too fast to get anyone sick.I hope this ride never goes away.

One of the classic Disney rides! Its a fast roller coaster (no loops). Waits are very long so I recommend you get a fastpass for this ride!

The wildest ride in the wilderness is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. This is my favorite ride at any Disney park. Always a good time and worth the wait Big Thunder Mountain Railroad takes you on a twisting trip through the American southwest. It is a nostalgic early Disneyland attraction that has gotten better with age. Try to get a car in the back for a more exciting time. Do not miss this ride!

My husband LOVES this ride me and my daughter refuse to EVER RIDE IT AGAIN!!! lol We both after getting off this decided Winnie the Pooh ride should be next lolWe both perfer to keep away from the mountains. So if you are a coaster lover ride this ride. If not trust me and my daughter check out go to a different ride.

The best coaster in Disneyland. This coaster is fast, twisty, and has an awesome theme. Its a bit short sadly, and the line is long, but thats just because of how good it is compared to all the other rides.

We love this ride!! Its so smooth and the effects are amazing. We are avid Disney fans and go to Walt Disney world all the time and the one at Disneyland blows it out of the water. The queue is in the shade, the background and ambiance is perfect. The dynamite effects are awesome! We rode this twice in our 3 day trip because it was so good. A not to be missed ride!

Big Thunder Mountain really lives up to its name.This is definitely one high speed roller coaster of a ride. When I rode it on July 3rd to got in line just as the second platform was opened up to make the line move faster.The ride itself is very exhilarating from beginning to end. The drops are fast, the turns are smooth, theres lots of airtime along the way, and the water splash is the big finale.The scenery of the ride is spectacular.

Always a fun ride. Make sure you check if the ride is down for regular maintenance around the summer to fall season. Using the Fastpass system is highly recommend to avoid standing in the longer line that can be very hot and leave you exposed to the sun for a good part of the wait.

It’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!

Its so amazingly smooth but goes on these crazy turns and bumps. Its a great ride! You should also try to go on it at night. Its much better then! I was at Disneyland and at about 11:50 I went to the ride. For once at Disneyland, there was literally no line. I went on it, and I absolutely loved it. I havent been on the ride for a couple of years and didnt remember it at all, so it was like a brand new experience. My favorite part what does when you go through the tunnel, right as the TNT explodes behind you. If youre in Disneyland you should definitely visit.

A fantastic ride for all ages. Some of the updates done over the last few years have definitely helped keep it fresh. [It also gives a nice sneak peak of star wars land at the top of the second peak]

Youre transported to the wild west on this ride, and you get to see how America was at one point. Its a fun ride and worth the wait!

7E3216: I used to ride this with my older granddaughter when she could not ride by herself. It was kind of not pleasant but I enjoyed watching her having the blast. She can now ride by herself and with other older kids.

Hold on to your hats! Big Thunder is the best Disneyland coaster. Although relatively tame, it makes up for it in theming and length (three lift hills). Tight corners, caves, tunnels and a wild west town being this ride to live. Grab a fast pass to help skip the lines. Ride at night for even better experience :)

Not too fast but really fun.

This Has always been my favorite attraction, unfortunately a discrepancy in Disneylands height requirements has ruined that. My daughter is right at 40 tall, measured that on various rides at DL but the measurement device on this ride is NOT set correctly. My daughter showed as about 1/2 shorter on this ride so we were told she couldnt ride, therefore I couldnt ride either. I drove 19 hours to be here and I cant enjoy my favorite ride because your measurement device is wrong. Here is a brilliant idea... measure people at the gate and digitally put that information on the pass. It will cut down on measurement discrepancies and angry patrons. My experience here made DL the most miserable place on earth.

One of the best rides in Disneyland! It was my very first ride when I was 4 years old. I cried and hated it.... But it is a classic, well themed and is just awesome. I wouldnt change a thing about it.

A great roller coaster for anyone who meets the height limit (40 inches). This one is one of my favorite rides in the whole park, beating out Space Mountain. The line is short, and even if it looks long it moves quickly.The finale is really cool, with lots of cool effects that make it look like the mine is collapsing on you.

One of the best rides at Disneyland! We have enjoyed this ride countless times and will again next time were there. Day or night it is absolutely worth whatever the wait may be.

I love this ride so much but it appears that it is breaking down far to often. I was at Disneyland for three days and the ride went down for long periods of time on multiple occasions. Cast Members are nice though and do not get enough credit when dealing with grumpy families.

Awesome! I like riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at night because its a great vantage point for seeing the lights and fireworks shows. The designers really nailed this one. The atmosphere is very convincing. Its a classic ride and should be on every visitors to-ride list.

Such a fun ride!!

So much fun. The fast pass line moves quickly but the standby line does as well. The line is usually shorter when Fantasmic or the fireworks are going on (Fantasmic just came back to Disneyland the day before this review) but there will be a mad rush to the ride after since many people are nearby. Riding at night is a lot of fun. The disabled/wheelchair entrance is through the exit line. You just check in with the cast member over there. It is easier to get in and out of with a scooter if you are able to hop off at the beginning of the exit.
