Had a couple of planes you could go inside which was cool. Very small though, not many displays. Took maybe 30 minutes to see everything. Would not be very easy for a handicapped person. Volunteer was very nice.

Very cool! Not the biggest display, but the aircraft that they do have is worth seeing. The people that work there are full of knowledge and very helpful. And being located next the manufacturing facility for the Osprey boost the wow factor. I will definitely be coming back to see more. Thank you for the great tour and history lesson.

It is great for all ages. Please consider donating to this wonderful place so they can make their future plans of expanding come true.

I gave this 2/5 stars simply because its a very small museum located in a Bell Helicopter business park/extra public hangar. There are 6 different aircraft available to see but really only 1 that you can enter at the moment during this pandemic and thats with a museum guide. Two of the aircraft have been stripped so theyre more like remnants of what they once were. The guide was very nice and knowledgeable although the lady at the front desk seemed frustrated that we came in when we did. She seemed to warm up as we were leaving but nothing says dont come back like feeling like youve interrupted someones crossword puzzle. The museum is mainly a small fenced off portion within a working public hangar along with one room that has numerous aircraft models. There isnt a coordinated theme other than flight but with the limited items, it feels more like another museums leftovers. Perhaps this will continue to evolve into a better museum but as it stands now, this feels like a side project to showcase some old stuff pulled out of boxes. That said, this museum isnt claiming to be the Smithsonian either so theres that.

Anytime you are in Amarillo, plan to visit this outstanding museum. The tour will last about 2 hours and is free! (I would encourage you to make a donation as this is a local museum that will benefit from your generosity). Everything from an original photo of the Wright Brothers first flight to Space Flight memorabilia to military aircraft. Make the time to include this in your travels! I was lucky enough to have the Museum President lead my tour!

Oh wow. If you are even interested in old planes a little bit, you’ve gotta check this place out. It’s not your usual aircraft museum. On every visit, you get a guided tour automatically. And you don’t just look at the planes from outside - you get to go IN almost all of them. That huge and magnificent old DC-3 that’s in their hangar? Yep, you get to go inside. That jet on the ramp that was modified by NASA for astronaut training? Yep, they invite you in.It’s a “little museum that could” and a better way to experience aviation history than just looking at planes from behind a rope. Even my toddler loved it!

I really enjoyed seeing the part of the museums collection that is on display. The space is rather small, especially considering the theme and size of the collection. Still, there are several interesting displays, and a handful of actual aircraft. The gentleman who handled our tour was very informative, and the whole staff was friendly. Heres hoping the museum will find a wealthy benefactor who will help pay for its move to a larger venue.

It is impressive to walk along different types of planes. One of which they allow you to walk inside of. When you head there you may feel like you have gone the wrong way but once inside you will find handcrafted models of planes and even some stuff from NASA space exploration. Review №63

This museum is a hidden gem for anyone interested in aviation as it has many civilian and vintage military aircraft, they have a few artifacts from NASA. The Gulfstream II modified to train NASA shuttle pilots with shuttle controls on one side and second pilot using original controls is outdoors along with Caribou military transport, you can enter inside and see for yourself the controls, the space provided for cargo and people, the old navigation equipment. They have an actual Korean war era M*A*S*H helicopter, a vintage passenger aircraft Douglas DC-3. There are many other aircraft -- ultralights, racers etc. The guides are volunteers and pilots, they are interesting to talk to, however it takes a bit of background knowledge to get started -- if you are in the area, you like aircraft and want to see the history for yourself, this place is practically a must.

So dope.We were on the way back to Chicago from San Francisco and we were stopping in Amarillo for lunch (BBQ!! heyyooo) But we had some time to kill. Looked up some things to do locally, considered the zoo but eh I mean we got a pretty cool zoo back home... Saw something else interesting but it would have been $18 each and we were on a budget (and it didnt sound thaaaat interesting).Told my guy there was an Air and Space Museum in the area and I swear my mans eyes lit up. AND it was free? Boom. Done. Put it in the gps and after a 20min drive we were like.....is this it? I had to check that I put it in my phone right cuz it totally looked like we were driving into the airport. Dont worry though, just keep driving its there. Smaller sign, inconspicuous door, but I swear its there. And its totally worth it. (I mean, its free so I guess thats not saying much.. so its more than worth it? A deal, by far)Anyways, no spoilers about the actual tour/stories/info but theres super cool photos, awesome models, and amazing aircraft. We thought it would be a fairly short look around but we ended up staying I think two hours? So many interesting things to look at. What really blew me away (other than the helicopter that landed/took off while we were there hehe) were the people. Everyone was incredibly nice and knowledgeable. I feel like we got a good sense of the team, we bounced around between tour guides to see different sections they had at different times and they were all sooo cool. Slightly different things to say and different personalities made it so much fun.I think we probably got the perfect tour, started with a bunch of cool stories and information, packed with jokes and sprinkled with movie recommendations; this guy was hilarious and extremely entertaining yet obviously knew what he was talking about. Second part/ tour guide felt a little more structured but she had some fantastic info/stories too. It got a little more hands on and she let me sit in everything and made sure I got to touch and see all the things! :D awesome. Third part/guy had great things to share too, definitely some chuckles, and he just seemed so happy, it was like the perfect end. They have a small gift shop too I checked out at the end (super casual, ofc had to get some post cards but they got some rad posters too). I am sooo glad we stopped here. It ended up being one of the many highlights of our trip. Thanks guys!:)
