What a cool place to visit in Albuquerque! I’m a teacher that is always on the hunt for unique things to share with my kids back at home. This place had many opportunities for photos and videos of various snakes. I loved the charm of the place! The owners were very welcoming and personable. I appreciated the teacher discount they gave me, even though I was from out of state. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique place to visit!

This is such a cool place to visit and take your visitors. It’s rare to be able to see all these types of rattlesnakes up close. It’s never been crowded when I’ve gone. You go in and buy your tickets and then there is a gift shop to look around in as well. I wouldn’t go here if you are jumpy.

Terrifying, fascinating, educational.Get as close as you’d ever want to be with dozens of species of live venomous & non-venomous rattlers, as well as scorpions & tarantulas, plus a wide array of snake-inspired curios & memorabilia, then be awarded a Certificate of Bravery for the experience.Well worth the amazingly low price of admission: $6 adults; $5 AAA/seniors/military; $4 kids.

Well... Traveled from Kansas City, MO to see this museum. My son was very disappointed upon arrival seeing there was a sign on the door saying they were closed due to covid. Problem being that they didnt take the time to update Google places so that people wouldnt waste time coming when they are closed. They will re open Sept 15 on part time hours. I dont believe in giving 1 stars for situations like this as some have done below. Be kind and give these local businesses a brake regardless of a mistake. Hope to come when you all are open!!!

Amazing place! Great exhibits of rattlesnakes, non-venomous snakes, and other animals (scorpion, black widow spider, skink, turtles/tortoises). Cant wait to return!

Review №11

An amazing educational experience for anyone who wants to learn more about snakes in general, and rattlesnakes in particular. There were lots of different rattlesnake species, and also a handful of other reptiles. In the back room, an educational film was playing about the only snake in the world that gives live birth (do you know which one?).You can make the experience whatever you want. You could spend hours here reading up on all of them, or you could be in and out in half an hour.My only issue is how small the enclosures are. But I imagine thats the result of funding. So, go, see these beautiful creatures, and leave a donation. :)

My parents took me to this museum since I was a baby, when I was 8 or 9 I got to hold a python. Pretty much grew up in Old Town. I make an effort to go at least every year, if not more. Its the largest collection of rattlesnakes in the world. The owner and curator, Bob, is one of the kindest people you will ever meet, take the time to talk to him and youll find out some pretty cool facts. If you really want to see some desert wildlife up close and some interesting historical exhibits, I recommend this place 100%.

I’ve been wanting to come to this place for a few years now. It’s an amazing place with a ridiculously large number of live rattlesnakes with tons of information and very kind and knowledgeable staff. It’s a must see for anyone interested in herpetology, but it’s great even for people who have no prior knowledge of reptiles! 10/10 would come here again if given the chance. If you’re in Albuquerque, stop through this gem of a museum!

Definitely worth the visit to the rattlesnake Museum which has a collection of live animals, primarily reptiles, and pretty much anything under the sun that can be attributed to reptile memorabilia. This includes beers, postcards and stamps, and staff who are willing to have a friendly conversation with you. It has a cheeky charm to it. Oh, the $6 adult admission is definitely worth it in order to earn your certificate of Bravery.

This is one of those kitschy tourist traps that are definitely worth stopping at. The owner operator is a fun guy you might accidentally learn something about rattlesnakes and if you have a friend thats queasy about the thoughts of being in such a small room with so many snakes thats worth the admission ticket right there. Some of them is Collectibles and antiques or actually interesting to look at learn about. And his pet tortoises were quite the surprise.

This is a really neat place. I went for the first time about fifteen years ago and loved it then. This time was even better! The snakes are all healthy and in good flesh. There isnt that retilian fug that is often found in places with numerous reptiles housed in it. I also love that their snakes are not wild-caught.I spent many years working in exotic animal medicine so to be able to be up close to the wide variety of snakes there was a treat. Definitely not for those with a snake phobia but well worth the stop otherwise!

It was an interesting museum. The snakes were cool to see, but still scary to see them that close. The large turtles were awesome to see. Fascinating! The front is a cool touristy shop with a TON of stuff, a neat sculpture and a very nice host. Paying to go through the museum is the best part, though. history, videos, and a huge amount of snake-related products from beer bottles to carved jewelry, you name it. But the best part is the huge amount of actual live snakes. Ive never even seen so many different kinds in a zoo. Theyre from all over the world. I didnt even know there were that many kinds of rattlesnakes! Plenty of other snakes too, many venomous ones. warning, they do have a couple tarantulas. I ignored those, LOL and you get a cute little bravery certificate at the end. Would be very educational for kids, and there is a cool little activity for kids thats like a trivia game in the back room.
