Freeway Lakes is a place you must know the history of and it will help you understand its depths and lack of. Small creek fed lakes that were dug up for the highway project many years ago.These lakes are ok fishing in the summer, call and with the lower water levels you will find fish not as willing to bite. When it is stocked you will get active bites as those fish are hungry and not acclimated you this environment.Fishing picks up as weather is cool in the fall off of a hot summer. Your best options are to always fish from within the water, bank fishing is not very good.Summertime water levels produce a lot of algae and the mud and decaying invasive water plants produce a funk. Best bet is catch and release for these fish if fishing anytime between June to February.Crappie, Bluegill, Largemouth Bass and stocked trout are available with trout only being there after stocked.Four stars because you need to know the history and fluctuations of the ecosystem.

Three different lakes, all connected. Used our Sea Eagle raft here a few times. Caught fish in the second lake but didn’t try the other two lakes. Easy lake access. Just kinda sketchy activity sometimes in the parking lot.

An interesting place to kayak, not my favorite. Lots of vegetation, so hard to get around. The water smells funky, and cleaning the kayak afterwards was quite a chore. Had someone hitting golf balls from the parking lot as well left.

We went canoeing here and there was a dead beaver under one of the bridges. There is plenty of beauty to see. Wouldnt want to fall in the water though

I like to come fishing here. This is my go to spot in Albany. Theres usually not too many people its quiet, its not too bad.

I love the freeway lakes until there is too many people there at one time...

Since I had a bad day at Timber Linn, it was recommended to try the Freeway Lakes.What a joke.Getting to the lake and into the parking was easy.However, fishing access was horrific.The trail was almost completely overgrown with shrubs, the lake was almost completely covered in grass and lillies.The only way to remotely fish this lake was in a small boat.Absolutely useless for some one restricted to the bank.

Nice place to do some bass fishing

Its not really a park. It is more like a swamp. There are some animal life though! I would not recommend it for people with kids. I have seen people fishing, but not seen anyone reel one in. People dump their cars there often and it is on a busy road.

Quiet and spacious. A lovely place to relax.

Great bass fishing if you know how to catch them

It was beautiful. The water was perfect for canoeing. It was quiet and not overcrowded.

Nice play to go to unwind and relax. You can walk around the pond or/or fish. It does have a boat ramp so you can take your boat out in the water. More so for smaller boats.

3 lakes divided by the I-5. Has a boat ramp and great for the family. It gets stocked early spring each year.

Good place to take kids for some bank fishing,trails leading to all 3 lakes.easy walking.

Its close to Albany and it has good size fish in the West lake. Best to get there by boat. Theres poison oak on the trail of you walk. Its regularly stocked with trout but after mid May the underwater vegetation is very abundant so run your trolling motors high. Ive caught several large mouth bass and tons of trout.

Great place for grandbabies. Caught 3 nice ones.

The scenery is amazing theres a boat launch right where you park the bathrooms were locked due to vandalism I sat here and fished for 3 hours throwing everything from rubber jigs to hard body poppers literally the only thing I didnt throw was a live worm I saw lots of bluegill and some Guppies heard frogs saw a couple of ducks look like canvas bags or something this is part of a three Lake series the farthest Lake from where you park is not really accessible by foot they are all accessible by boat there are lots of weeds and in talking to other fishermen that fish there a lot they are usually catching bass and crappie this time of year but I did not catch anything so if you feel like fishing good luck bring a boat or kayak

Parking lot was clean but also big pot holes. First 2 lakes just look dirty and slimy but once we got to the west side it was nice.People living in tents by the 2nd over pass.

Kyak and sunshine

Can pull in, park and get to fishing. Caught a nice trout yesterday. Have to really try and feel for them. They dont bite real hard so u have to hold ur pole and just wait til u feel them start playing with your bait.

Not a lot of parking which is a downside. Also theres really only bank fishing access on the second pond. Decent trout and large mouth fishing though.

Nice little place

In a lot oof areas it is overrun with algae overgrowth throughout. Dock needs some repair otherwise its a good place to take an inflatable boat. No luck fishing out in middle of 2nd lake. Have to figure out what bait and/or lures work best for fishing.

Too hard to fish from the bank. We kept catching sticks.

Has an outhouse - which is good. No source of potable water. No real good spots to picnic - everything is either overgrown with blackberries or already occupied by the homeless. The lakes are choked with weeds and virtually unfishable from the bank - a boat would help. The water temp was just under 80°, so no trout. Count on catching bluegill or crappie if you catch anything besides weeds.

Kayaked to all 3 Lakes. It’s relaxing and just a sight to see

Went to fish but lake has invasive plants. So just enjoying the sights.

Well..... it was pretty nice, what I saw of it it wasnt trashy or contaminated. I should have brought the boat though. From what I saw there wasnt much access from the bank if your there to fish definetly bring a kayak or boat .

ITS A Good Place To Have A Quiet PicnicOr To Go Fishing Or Just To Walk Around The Lakes.

They is a LOT of algae on the water around to edges of all the lakes, there are few spots to easily access the water and fish. Additionally it is really noisy as it is located by and under the I 5 freeway.

Great for fishing. You can access most of the bank fishing spots by parking near the bridge instead of the parkinglot

I kayak like a mofo and this place is really close to my house and shockingly large. But the water. Is. Poison. So dont go swimming or anything. But your dog would probably be fine? I mean they would definitely smell terrible. And need a bath. But they wont die. And its gorgeous.

Nice and peaceful place for walking or fishing, or just to enjoy nature. A little muddy during winter so wear your rubber boots.

I appreciate that they have a well kept bathroom, but they have limited bank access. Great place if I had a canoe or small boat.

Good location, finding a fishing spot can be hard sometimes. It’s great for when you only want to be there for a little bit or all day.

A muddy mess this time of year. And pretty certain there are not fish in those damn lakes.

The lakes were overgrown with weeds and debris. Very little shoreline that was worth fishing from. Its not the same as years past. Doesnt seem to be maintained anymore. I was very disappointed.

There is nothing wrong with freewsy lakes...its just a small lake with a small dock and gravel boat launch and thats about it.

I only go for the kayaking, but the fishing is also good. No motorized boats.

My dad used to love to come here fishing. I personally havent been fishing there just gone out to hang with friends and family.

Calm, secluded. Decent fishing, usually get 30-40 fish a day. Some LARGE bass in there.

Dont eat anything out of there. Its the low spot of the valley.
