Nice big areas for dogs to run around off leash and socialize, separate area for small dogs. Nice amount of shade and sun with tables/chairs for people to sit, water fountains and trash cans. Good parking, restrooms and other activities available in Washington Park. Easy walk to Robert W. Crown Memorial State beach. Alameda is a beautiful city in San Francisco Bay with a terrific variety of restaurants and shopping areas.

Alameda dog park is right next to a beach and the surface is mostly sand. The terrain is flat and not very large but the sand is what makes this park unique around here. The people who go there for the most part are responsible and experienced, and the dogs seem to have a good time. There is a nice water fountain with plenty of bowls, and plenty of scoopers around for scooping your poop. This is a pretty good park. I will reserve a 5-star rating for a phenomenal dog wonderland, which this place is not, although it is a good park. The surrounding area is a residential neighborhood on one side and a public beach on the other side.

Pros: It is usually well maintained, and when not too crowded it is large enough for most dogs to get some excercise running and playing. At times it is the only reasonable and convenient option for dogs groups of 3 or more. Parking in the adjacent lot is usually available and free. On many days is is quiet and relaxing, and the few owners around are controlling their dogs.Cons: Can be hot and dirty in the summer and windy and muddy in the winter. There is some unpredictability about the types of interactions that might occur with other dogs. Nearly every time I go there is a another dog helping themselves to all of my dogs’ things while the owner looks on, while this is annoying I appreciate the responsible owners.Needs improving: In/Out Gates are cumbersome and a lot of tangling and confusion could be avoided by installing a simple sliding gate. Bathroom facilities are rarely clean. More water stations.Kudos for: Creating and maintaining a free large dog park, something that is we really need more of.

This is a very popular spot. Some of the dog owners really suck. But there are a bunch of us regulars that get along great and the dogs are really nice.

Friendly dogs. Owners were picking up after their pets poop. Everyone was taking turns refilling the water bowls. There are random tennis balls and tug of war ropes around for dogs to play with. Its pretty big so theres a lot of running room to tire them out! The park has two sections. One for small pups and another for big ones.

Now that I took my dog here, it is apparent to me he is autistic. Nice relaxed mixed all inclusive crowd of dog lovers. Small and Big dog park with a shared shared fence. Entry is a double door no dog can run out or in. Had a good time. parking can be tough.

It was busy but i had found parking pretty quickly. Small dogs have a smaller yard but it is NOT small. The big dogs are seperate but small can go in. My boys had a FUN time playing and running! There was a few unaltered dogs that wanted to hump or was being humped but otherwise no issues for us. The boys had a lot of water bowl choices since they were throughout the yard and they were all small bowls so they could reach. It was a quarter grass but 3/4 sand which wasnt terrible. There is an onleash beach about 5 min walk away. They had fun there too.

Best dog park in the East Bay. Big open space to run in, tons of other dogs, and friendly people. There are separate big and little dog areas, water stations, and tools for picking up waste without having to use your baggies. I come here just about every day, its fantastic.

We take our 20 pound shiba to this dog park all the time. The park is separated into a small and large dog area with no dogs greater than 30 pounds allowed on the small side and anyone allowed on the large side. We use both sides with our dog depending on how busy it is. The dog park is near the beach and is mostly sand with some grass. There are water fountains for the dogs, benches for the people, and scoops for picking up your dogs unmentionables. My only complaint is that the fences are set all that deep into the ground. Our dog has come somewhat close to digging under the separator between the two sides. All in all, this is the best dog park in the area that we have tried!

This parks big dog area is a lot bigger than the 1 at the San Leandro Marina.Took my pup there on a Sunday, Mothers day to be exact. Its mostly sand, which can tricky to move around in if you have feet/ankle issues. There are tons of places to sit and 2 huge shaded areas to relax in.There is a ton of dog poop under 1 of the shaded areas so venture in knowing that.

My dog had a blast here! It was mine and my husbands first time taking him here yesterday and he played with the other dogs so well! They also provide a water fountain so your dog doesnt get dehydrated and there is so much space for the dogs to run around! Also they provide a few trash cans and tools to scoop up your dogs poop, it is very sandy though so your four legged friend will end up with sand everywhere and your shoes will end up filled with sand, but the regulars (people and dogs included) were very nice, we will absolutely bring our dog here again!
