It was fun to leave our own painted Rock there. Thats about it. Spent about three minutes there. Homeless people were hanging about.

Roxaboxen was always such a HUGE part of my childhood. It started with the book whenever I was very young, then my mom would take me once in a while. Whenever I had my daughter, I couldnt wait for her to go! We went for the first time about a week ago and she LOVED it. She talks about it every night. We cant wait to go back again. So much fun for the kids.

First time visiting heard that it was painted rock heaven but I was not impressed.... VERY run down. In a really trashy neighborhood.

Cute little park tucked into a quiet neighborhood. Painted rocks from both local and visiting kids make the park an interesting visit.

If your kids have read the book( or YOU have) you might be interested in this little park based on the book. Supposedly it is located on the exact spot the real place was. That book was a true story and took place in Yuma. The Yuma Parks and Recs workers made it to duplicate the books illustrations as close as they could. Of course they couldnt use barbed wire because this IS a play area for kids. They were quite proud of the results, as well they should be, its a lovely place to bring the kids to just PLAY, to use their imaginations and pretend. No cell phones ir computers just play. Good idea in theory, it does draw some unsavory types but run them off and its great! I would not advise bringing the kiddos when its the hottest part of the day because there arent any large shade trees there. Make sure to bring water for everyone just be sure.

This is a small, park on a corner lot that is easily missed, I would suggest you read the childrens book about Roxaboxen first. One other nice detail is that its a beautiful park to watch the sunrise in the winter, you might catch a glimpse of the hot air balloons.

Big disappointment. Local resident told us it was great and had the history of Yuma. Big joke.

Its a nice park that belies its usefulness - although it gets hot since the entire thing is gravel and cement.
