I went for a movie screening and Q&A with the director. I thought I had great seats, 1st row center, balcony. Unfortunately the first row leaves no leg room for anyone at or above 6ft. Thankfully the show wasnt sold out and the ushers were more then happy to let us move back a row to get better leg room. This should really be on there FAQs of there website. Also the main entrance was closed and you had to enter though the hotel on the other side of the building. Again not a big issue but it was 28º outside and we had to walk the block and a half to the main entrance just to turn around and walk a block and a half to the hotel entrance. Some sings would be helpful. Overall a really nice venue, will be back.

A very old playhouse in the Hotel DuPont. Limited views in the corners if your sitting there. Mens room in the basement, Womens room up stairs and on the main floor. Snacks and a limited bar. Set right in the heart of downtown Wilmington.

The building is easy to get to and there are a lot of parking options around. The seats however are awful. Unless you are sitting at the outer end of the rows, theres no leg room at all. We moved our seats and sacrifices view to he more comfortable. Aside from that, its fantastic!

Loved it! This place is filled with wonderful architecture, music, social atmosphere and overall excitement. We saw The Nutcracker, and the entire place was very welcoming and we all enjoyed everything about The Playhouse. I hear there is more to see there, so Ill have to go back another time to try the restaurants and such for new places to taste and review.

I have attended several performances at the Playhouse and havent been disappointed. It is an old theater, so there is a balcony section, the seating is a little tighter than newer recliner type seating in some places. The place isnt huge, so even in the back you have the feeling of closeness.

The Hotel DuPont and the Playhouse continue to be a wonderful place for a special night out. We saw Manheim Steamroller. Their show was amazing! We had accessible seating for a wheelchair, and the staff was extremely helpful. There are stairs to get to the restrooms inside the theatre itself. However, accessible restrooms are just a few steps outside the theatre lobby in the main hallway of the hotel. After the show we enjoyed dinner at the Grille.

The view from most all seats are great. The tickets to The Wizard of Oz were a little pricey. We thoroughly enjoyed the show. The reason for the 4 star review is that the seats are quite uncomfortable. We will go again in December to see the Illusionists. Very hard to find parking for a truck. The garages have low ceilings.

Charming small theater. Embellished ceilings give a nod the to golden age. Orchestra floor seating is quite comfortable but limited. The theater has 2 balconies. Sight lines are quite good from both but seating is very tight especially in terms of footroom in the front row. The playhouse hosts shows in conjunction with The Grand, performance quality show dependent.

Saw the show Something Rotten. Looked like a full house and everyone enjoyed the show. We had seat on the right side of the stage front row. We didnt miss anything, every drop of sweat every nuance. The cast in its entirety did an excellent job. If I was casting for a new production of Rocky Horror Picture Show I would certainly contact the actor that played Shakespeare. The part he played fit that persona well and made the play even more enjoyable. Great choice of plays for a light humorous afternoon.

Went to see a friend of ours perform. It was an ok venue. They were selling beverages so I got in that line only to find out they dont take credit cards so then you would have to get in the atm line and then get back in line. No thanks. When we were leaving everyone is bottlenecked through a single point. So plan ahead for these situations and youll make out better than we did. Hope this helps someone.

Went to the playhouse to attend a graduation ceremony for my nephew. I was one of the extra guests, so my seat was up and the balcony area. This is an older building and doesnt have many of the modern conveniences. The stairs are steep and narrow, and there is no elevator. I saw several elderly grandparents struggling to get up the steps. Once in my balcony seat my knees were right up against the seat in front of me...zero leg room. The seats rock slightly, so when the person arrive to sit in the seat in front of me... and every time he moved, the seat banged into my knees. The next day I had bruises on both my knees.I think every seat was taken and it was crowded. It was very hot in the theater. It was sweltering in the balcony, and when I spoke to family members who sat down on the main level, they said it was hot there too. It would seem the air conditioning system cannot support a full audience. And to top it off, the main entrance into the theater is undergoing Construction. So everyone had to arrive and leave through the Hotel DuPont Lobby. It was crowded and hard to navigate to the theater when we arrived, but leaving was a nightmare. It took me 35 minutes to make my way from my seat in the balcony out of the front of the hotel. If there had been any sort of emergency, people would have been trampled in the madness. So while the venue is lovely, my next nephew doesnt graduate for four more years. Im hoping by then the school will find another venue for their graduation ceremony, otherwise I may not attend. If you plan to attend any sort of event at the playhouse, I strongly recommend you do not buy balcony tickets. I never would.

Had the awesome opportunity to see Hit Men, one night only at The Grand! This was not a cover band event because the musicians were all the actual studio and touring musicians for famous bands. These guys are the real deal! They performed hits that they invited the audience to sing along with, including: Dont Stop Believing, Dance with Me, Joy to the World, Peace Train, the soulful I Want to Know What Love Is, and many, many more...played as they did in the 60s, 70s. and 80s. They shared stories and anecdotes which really rounded out the performance. Four words to describe this event, and they happen to be a song they performed: Oh What a Night!

I went with my niece (3 years old), mother in law and sister in law to see The Wizard of Oz in November. The performance was amazing, but our seats were not the greatest. We sat on the balcony in one of the first rows and it was very hard to see over the ledge. If you sit on the balcony I recommend sitting 2-3 rows up from the front especially if you have young children. The steps going up to the balcony were steep and my mother in law had some trouble. I dont think there was an elevator or anything to get to the balcony too. The tickets were a little pricey and the theater is a little dated, but all in all I would recommend the theater. I will be going in April to see Dirty Dancing and we have orchestra seats this time so hopefully the experience will be better.
