Great tours of house and working mill. Only $5 for a tour of both. If youre lucky theyll grind a bit of corn. The property was visited by both Union and Confederate troops prior to the battle of Gettysburg.

Incredible history in the family and its positive contribution to the beginnings of our country. The working mill is a beautiful site. I bought different kinds of flour and cornmeal and have enjoyed the Shriver Homestead recipes very much. A National Treasure. Truly. They had a very tough year with the extensive rainfall this year and had to cancel 2 main fundraisers. If you are in the area when they are open, stop by and ENJOY the history. Lots of info on their website!

Corn roast had more people than I seen in years past. Corn is sweet and tender. Take about 30 minutes to get through the line. Hot weather very few places for shade. Otherwise always for a good cause.

Love the history in this place. Seeing how people lived hundreds of years ago is pretty neat!

Due to the bridge being unfinished, they made those who have disabilities walk up a hill and a narrow path around a house to get their ticket. The path was a foot path, not even a paved one and very narrow as it went around the edge of the building. Difficult for those with walkers and other devices. Other accommodations should have been made for the disabled. Then those delivering corn this year dropped 1-3 ears per table for 6 people. It took forever to get them to bring more. Not sure what changed from the past 15 years, but it was not a good change.

Very historical place; good docent; wonderful home to see not of the ultra rich; rather plain; shows how the upper middle class lived; reconstructed mill that work with water wheel; still works; hands on milling experience; you can buy what is milled (various flours) at nominal prices. A real step back in time.
