Need a quick hike just outside of the city of Topeka. This is a perfect place to. Not only are the trails well maintained, they actually interesting points of interest. A replica of the first cabin of Topeka. A monument of buffaloes. A great tree himself for the kids..and adults too! A place to eat. A small pond..the list goes on. If your a training athlete the diversity of terrain will take your workout to another level. It is still a nature preserve, so you will also see a diversity of floral and fauna as well as animal life. The is designated parking. No bathroom facilities. Bring your own water and snacks.. better yet have a picnic.. Give yourself an hour to fully appreciate the whole thing.

This is a wonderful place where dogs are allowed off the leash in lush acres of thick forest and native prairie. Best of all, it is only minutes from Topeka, and those who use it take their stewardship to heart.

Great place to take a walk. My wife and I have 2 kids under 3 and we love to get out and walk. Thought we would give Iliff Commons a shot when we had a little extra time for a walk. We are so glad we did. The kids loved the flowers, swings, and surprises along the way. We spent 2 hours out there and plan on going back because there is more to explore that we still havent seen. Highly recommend.

So awesome that a doctor bought this piece of property for the public to enjoy. A saint in my mind.A tree house and cabin are fun for kids and adults with imagination. The pond is a great place for butterflies to hangout and the woods hold plenty of slug buddies. If course the trails are where its at. Off leash dogs allowed if well behaved so if dogs scare you maybe not your spot. Otherwise it seems a great place to meet new likeminded friends. Enjoy.

If you havent taken your kids or dogs here you should. Lots of side areas with benches, tables and things to do. Treehouse, pond for dogs, tire swing and creeks. I only went a half mile into it because of the heat but cant wait to return.

This is a lovely place to walk (or run). There is also a mountain biking trail. There are a variety of features along the trail such as statues of bison at the top of the Ad astera ascent where you can see the city of Topeka on the horizon, a replica cabin of the one the founders of Topeka spent a cold winter in until it burned, a tree fort you can climb up into, a pond with a dock, and a large tire swing. If I had grandkids I would definitely bring them. My husband and I visited in March when the grasses were brown. It was still beautiful, but Id love to go back in spring or early summer.
