This is a great place to drop a line and relax. Fishing is happening! Hunting is happening Now! I wish people would pick up after themselves. Its beautiful space to enjoy! My husband and I volunteer out there, and pull so much trash out of there daily.

Peaceful, beautiful, but sometimes a bit windy. Definitely a great place for fishermen and duck hunters. Roads are decent to ride on up to about where the visitor center is, but very bumpy further on. I believe there are hunting and fishing lodges available for rental; the visitors center should have information about this.

Nice area, but closed in October to everyone but hunters. This is disappointing, granted how far out of the way it is. Though, depending upon your goals, this may be a positive.

One of the least informative websites of any local park. Many rules and restrictions, but they arent all online. Poor signage. Very limited facilities. And, yet, a beautiful spot where wildlife thrives.

We went here for a family hike and was very pleased to find such an abundance of wildlife. I wish there were more signage for hiking areas, or maps letting us know where it is safe to walk. So, we stayed in the car most of our time there and took most of our photos from the car. Great for photography too!!!

I love Grizzly Island the fishing ,the scenery. Have lived out there when the red barn was there and sunken barge which is replaced now with a dock. Now what I dont like is the people that use the land thats given to us to use as a place to go do some fishing in a clean safe place .well then you have those idiots that dont understand what that is because there a bunch of slobs dirty people that need to stay home and trash there homes .its so sick to look at a place that is overrun by trash because there to lazy.BUT YOU LOOK PAST ALL THOSE IDIOTS . . theres a wonder place to visit, fish, and exsplore.

Keep the wild life safe. clean up any mess that maybe left behind even if it isnt yours because nature has its place on mother earth ŵithout them life will not live on and life as we knew will be gone forever . Make it better for all living things . Have a wonderful day to all .

I visit this island every year for spectacular photos. I can take a whole day here to capture good photos of some birds. Yes, the best time for visiting is August I think.

Beautiful area to go hiking or for a class field trip. Interesting ecology and land use history. Get there super early to watch the sun rise through the ground fog - magical! My group used a meeting facility on site - small to medium size room, projector, basic mini kitchen, nice bathrooms, and picnic tables outside for a bag lunch and good conversation. Various paths and hiking trails lead out into the landscape.

Grizzly Island is a beautiful place gratefully left untouched for wildlife to thrive out here. Its the best place around to fish, hunt, or just get away from the restlessness of Fairfield and Suisun. I love it.

Hello my ole friends at Grizzly Island Wild life area, Suisun, Ca. I had the great experience of working for our great state of California. For 8 yrs. Grizzly Island is a treasure of the Bay area, it has an array of wild life including shore birds and Eagles, several species of hawks and Peregrine Falcons. They also have Elk, water fowl, pheasant and Jack rabbit hunting, and I hear they have hog hunting on Joyce island recently some of the best hog meet I have ever had. Grizzly Island use to be the site of Grizzly Island Asparagus farm, the Asparagus still grows wild on the island, and is the best I have ever eaten. The lucky ones know where the best patches of Asparagus grow:}Grizzly Island is a great place for family activities such as Fishing, picnicking, bird watching, school field trips, hiking, boating , Plain air painting trips, wild life viewing and is rich in history and great stories.I do miss my days working on that beautiful Island. Just wish it payed more. lol

A wonderful place to Hunt, Fish and watch Wildlife. From Waterfowl to Tule Elk, this area has an abundance of critters to watch. This is a managed area, so there are days that portions are closed to the public for hunting seasons, and other management activities but the ability to hike and enjoy this unique environment is not to be missed. Wind is a major factor here, being in the path of the onshore winds from the Bay Area that rush to cool the inland valleys during the day, and reverse as things cool down in the evening. Expect it and you will enjoy your hike/trip a great deal more.Be sure to register at the CA Fish and Wildlife office on Grizzly Island Road as you go in. They have great info on where you can fish, what areas may be closed that day etc. Good people, very friendly and helpful.

I own a duck club on the island and know no it well. Many animals to see as you make the drive from Suisun City out Grizzly Island Road , past the Fish and Game station and onto the levee roads. Anything from Elk to rabbits to waterfowl to upland birds and otters. Be aware that all roads past the F&G station are gravel and the road is washboard. Do NOT bring your new luxury car out here unless you want it dirty and dinged. Many fishermen walk both the paved and gravel roads so please be careful for them and their children and dogs. Cel service can be spotty.

They dont get it I guess they are pigs slobs and live in filth stay home. I love what we have hear its really a beautiful place. Wish it could stay that way.
