Decent gym. But only large enough to hold less than 1% of the students. Their policies for Covid are just their to make everyones lives hell and make the weak people feel safe. They make zero sense from a biological or medical point of view and dont even really follow CDC guidelines anyways.

Perhaps one of the best investments on campus. They have several floors of free weights, a track on the top floor, exercise machines galore, mat and wooden studio rooms with mirrors, a pool, basketball courts, and a climbing wall. They also offer programs for health and wellness, physical therapy, personal training, martial arts, dancing, boat/canoe/kayak stuff, climbing, you name it. Some bad parts are that the weight room is usually packed (they do have a lot of weights and machines, though, so you can usually get some sort of workout in) and they have pretty strict or expensive policies for guests (must be 18 or older, costs $10 to host a guest, etc.). If youre a student and you exercise, IMA is well worth the time to get there to do physical activities.

The weight room needs better ventilation in the back. Also a lot of the machines are spread between the bottom floor weight room and the main floor resulting in having to walk between floors for different machines. Overall great selection though and they have everything you need. Locker rooms are gross and need a remodel.

Ni
Review №7

Lots of cardio machines and a wide range of dumbbells, but there arent nearly enough benches and squat racks. It also get super hot and humid in the weight room. They need to increase the ventilation so Im not breaking a sweat just walking across the room.

This is probably one of thw worst division 1 school student gyms in America. Majority worthless equipment, outdated flooring, and no capacity to handle the 40k students enrolled.

There is a lot of activities to do, even for a beginner like me. And they have a lot of classes from beginner to advanced students. I enjoyed their raquetball courts and the pool.

Review №13

The building itself is nice, and very spacious, but the parking is HORRIBLE. The lot is small and you pay, and the surrounding lots are only for certain parking passes so you cant even park there if you pay. Also, they have gone back and forth with policy regarding children being able to watch intramural games inside of the gym so depending on what staff member I talk to when I get there they may or may not let me and my son in to watch my husband play. So thats kind annoying.

Love it ... The gym with three floors has a tonne of machines to work out with and a huge number of free weights. All the muscles can be trained from all angles! Other than that it has a swimming pool, basketball, volleyball, badminton, lawn tennis (outside), table tennis, playing ground (outside), beach volleyball (outside). They also have fun activities on Fridays such as roller skating, archery, log rolling. etc. They also host a bunch of classes and activities such as meditation, martial arts, dance, etc. All over great place to work on your mind and body!

My fitness journey starts from here. Go to ima from time to time even after I have graduated. Such a great vibe. Spacious basketball court and the weight room is just legendary.

Ni
Review №16

Not the gym for you if youre a serious weightlifter. I lift with a group of students and the management told us we werent allowed to be there because weightlifters are intimidating. Mind you, I simply go to the gym and lift like a normal person, nothing extreme. This, when theres hordes of groups from fraternities and sororities monopolizing equipment constantly. Definitely do not feel welcome here

Its normally a good time, but last time I went there was this weird older guy that was running around like he was on crack and bothering everyone in the area like HOw mAnY MorE seTs? So that he could move the weights 3 inches and run to the next area, I feared for my life.

The IMA as it is colloquially referred to is awesome. Membership isnt free, even for students, its factored into our tuition, but damn, theres anything you could ever want in a gym here. Pool? Check. Basketball court? Check. Squash room? Check. Track? Check again. Gym? Check. And so much more. And its pretty easy/noticeable to get to from campus. Highly recommend!

This is a big place with lots to do. There are 3 work out areas, a track, 5 multi use courts for basketball, volleyball, etc, a pool, large locker room with steam room and shower, and even a cafe for grab and go foods. It should be noted that despite its size when this place is busy its BUSY. Large crowds and no space to actually work out will be the case during peak hours.

Review №25

Salright, pretty good for a campus gym. I focus on powerlifting movements, so Im mostly down in the free weight section. It can get really crowded but its to be expected with so many people at school here. I always manage to get my work done at a reasonable time though. The knurling on barbells varies from ok to horrible; if youre planning on deadlifting, find yourself an alright one, throw on some liquid chalk and call it good. Theres a lot of machines I dont use but people seem to be satisfied with them. The yoga classes are really great too, and it seems there is something for everyone here.

The IMA will nickle and dime you. Left belongings in locker and due to work schedule couldnt make it until today to renew. The personnel wouldnt even let you look to see if they had your correct belongings until your money was in their pocket. I paid good money to attend classes here. Due to this encounter I have decided to place my money elsewhere at a different gym. Dont waste your time with the IMA if youre a community member.

Review №41

Terrible gym, the positive reviews probobly come from people who dont know otherwise. Overcrowded with a floor plan that doesnt make sense. The scheduling is poorly advertised making keeping to a regular routine difficult during hollidays and summer vacation. The gym is literally inaccessible on football gamedays. There is no free parking and whenever there is a sporting event, even for unpopular sports, they charge additional fees for lot parking. If you have the opportunity to use another facility i recommend it. I have been disappointed countless times by this facility. On top of all of this, gym membership fees are charged to ALL students even if you dont use them.

They are closed all the time. Saturday and Sunday hours in the summer are 11am to 630pm and 1pm to 530pm, respectively. Ive never seen hours like that for a gym. They have a few million dollars of equipment sitting idle for what seems like a high proportion of the time.

Also known as the Safeway fields. These fields are a good place to bring a group and start playing whatever sport you want. They are pretty well maintained but if it has rained recently they get pretty cruddy. Also they get stinky, because it is rumored that the field is over top of an old landfill.
