This place was awesome! I took my son for the first time today. It was a little difficult to find at first but this is a hidden gem. The staff person was super friendly when we were checking it and allowed us to stay into the second session since we got there really late due to traffic. Its really cheap, $8 for 1.5 hours of fun. The sand is soft and easy to brush off. There is lots of seating for adults to hang out outside of they desire. I wish there was a larger variety of toys but other than that lots of fun and well be back

Sand volleyball after a long time - was a great team sport for us. They are pretty accommodating and encouraging all through. Well maintained courts, sand and surroundings.

Clean, bright, fun. We went for the little diggers event, which was great. They opened one side of the courts, about 600 sq ft, which was plenty of space for everyone. The sand is fantastic for digging, its very fine and packs well when wet. Lots of toys were provided, primarily shovels and dump trucks. Our only criticism was the lack of excavators provided.

Really affordable play place! The staff is friendly and as someone who has transplanted from Hawaii to Seattle - I love that it reminds me of home! Its really so fun, even for myself to take some time to play in sand; with or without the kids. The facility is clean with both men and women bathrooms. The changing table is accessible for everyone! Being just outside both restrooms. Rental space for parties is available, as well as, their own parking lot! Lil Diggers Playtime is a great way to get babies started with some sensory play.

We had our company party at this place .. it was fun and we enjoyed played volleyball ball. I think we need more indoor beach style areas in Seattle. I took out one star because their parking space is limited and the are is not the best in Seattle

One last update (2 to 5 stars): I thoroughly enjoyed my beginners level session on Alki Beach. Our class was taught by Herman and he was a cool dude- the right amount of pushing and coaching. We were able to play a short game by the end of it. Only about an hour/hour and a half but its a solid period of continuous action and evolution. I cant wait for next Friday! Worth the investment. It can be a bit hard for a newcomer to figure out how Fridays work each year, as it sounds like each Summer has a varying start date. An earlier update to the website and less confusing web-form registration would be a big help to people like myself.---Edited: Staff reached out to me and schedule was updated around that time (within a day). Going to give Fridays a shot. Hoping for a fun exp. Thank you for following up.---Website info is not up to date. Have made 4 attempts via phone and email looking for more information about the Alki Friday schedule. Except for an in-direct email demand for payment when I tried to sign up on the somewhat confusing web form no one has answered my other emails. Am reluctant to sign up for Fridays based on lack of info and confidence in where the money would go.

Came here to play in the sand and escape the rain. One volley ball court is filled with toys and some chairs for adults to sit in to watch. Toys include shovels, pails, trucks, two small slides (think little tyke) and soft balls. Ages are 0 to 5 so the overall vibe is very chill. Hours for sand play are limited to a morning and afternoon time. Love that this is a place you can sit and relax and watch while your little plays.

My husband and I love coming here to play volleyball on the weekends. Having played pretty seriously in school, I can say sometimes its hard to get a great game of volleyball going, but I always find games here!

Went for the Lil Diggers. Most places that are aimed towards kids charge per kid, but this place charges per adult, which really makes no sense because its not the adults who are really using the space. Also, the place smelled faintly of feet. Actually, kind of strongly. They also moistened the sand, Im assuming so that the kids could build sand castles, but honestly, it just made it cold (and its currently February, so that wasnt necessarily a good thing), and toddlers dont care if they can build sand castles. It wasnt even moist enough for that, so Im not sure why they did it. Not sure if I would consider going back.

Love this place - Willie and the Sandbox staff create a fun environment for indoor leagues year round. Parking can be a pain at certain times, but its really nice having an indoor sand option in the wetter/colder/darker Seattle months.
