Perfect easy hike in the mountains. It was a beautiful November day cool air and sunny skies. Not too many people. Flat terrain that went up and down all the way to the end of the trail. Walked about 10K steps for the whole thing and took 2 hours. I would definitely suggest going by 9:30am as it gets warm even on a cool day. Pee before you go and bring a bag of essentials to take with you if you’re going to pace yourself.

One of my go-to trails. Its an out & back trail thats just under 4 miles with ~1000 ft of incline. Most of that is in the 1st 1/2 mile and mile 2 - 2 1/2. There is a clean restroom & drinking fountain at the trailhead with a significant amount of parking, too.The trail is primitive (not paved) but well-maintained. Its never busy but there are always people present. The views are stellar. Its a fun, safe trail. Do it twice for double the fun. Enjoy.

Great place for a hike. If you are new and decide to do the full trail make sure to take plenty of water. A casual pace will take you about 45 minutes each way. With that said it is an out and back so the foot traffic gets heavy at times. Good mixture of climbing and descents. There are some nice areas to rest with shade depending what time of the day.

This is my first time to Pinnacle Peak trail, heavily trafficked trail on a Sunday morning . I would say this is well-manicured trail made easy for hikers all thru with lots of information about animals and plants.I loved the ups and downs thru the entire stretch, adds that twist to trail. I was able to do slow jog on the way back and way down. Very scenic views all thru on Scottsdale area with the nearby golf courses. This hike provides a pivotal view of the mountains nearby, lots of place to sit and relax. Must try hike and effective too 80 mins (end to end), 600 Cal, 1040 EG hike.

For some midwesterners new to hiking in Phoenix this was rough for us. A few shady parts created by the rocks. The views are all along the trail not at the very end. It dead ends at a dirt road. We made it about 1.5 miles in and turned back. The views are beautiful at the vistas though. Bring water!

This view of Pinnacle Peak is actually taken from the Tom’s Thumb trail. From here you can see much of the surrounding landscape and neighborhoods. Pinnacle Peak Park is a local park operated by the city of Scottsdale. It sits further north about 30 minutes from the more central areas of Scottsdale. Nevertheless, it is surrounded by several very nice neighborhoods such as DC Ranch so it is also cool to see some of the extravagant houses along the way. The trail to the top of the peak is 1.75 MI (2.8 KM) one-way via an out-and-back trail so the total round trip is 3.5 miles (5.6 KM). The park also offers some places where you can rock climb as well as places to stop along the way. Because much of these trails and parks are operated by the city and surrounding neighborhoods they are well-kept and offer several options to get outdoors and explore. The nearby McDowell Mountains provide additional opportunities to bike, ride horses, and hike. One of the most popular trails there is the Tom’s Thumb trail so you can easily access to popular trails within a day.- @wanderingwithustwo

Great place to take family for a hike. Easy trail and kids of all ages can hike here. There are several spots along that way where you can stop and take beautiful pictures. Only problem is that the trail is narrow and several people love to run up and down which is hard if you are walking with kids. Overall highly recommended for family when in the area.

Pinnacle Peak is phenomenal. I lived nearby here for many years and did not realize the beauty that was right next to me. It is a very short and simple hike to the top of the peak, which isn’t actually really the top. They do not let you go all the way to the top, but it is still well worth it. Most hikers of any level or age would be able to handle this quite easily. I highly recommend it the views will not disappoint.

This was a nice hike. It was moderate to difficult. A lot of climbing up steps to get those calves working. Finished in about 2 hours. Very easy trail to follow. I recommend starting around 5:45 if going in the summer to avoid the heat as the heat can drain you as you are coming back. Also, there are not many people at that time as it can get a bit crowded.

Good quick hike, most of it is pretty doable except for the last quarter mile has a lot of stairs, so may not be for everyone at that point. Everyone was friendly and its pretty easy to walk around slow hikers. Took us about 90 minutes to complete. I saw a lizard. Watch out for the jumping Cholla!!

Great place to take kids because the trail is pretty worn and there isn’t any climbing. The views are amazing. Try to go during off peak hours since there is only one trail and it can get crowded with people going up and down in both directions. Bring as big a water jug as you can carry.

Great for an afternoon hike. It was fine for me it, but probably not ideal for someone with unsure footing if you want to go the whole trail. Views were spectacular and could see much after only ten minutes of walking. Looks like more options for climbing or exploring, but marketers suggested we stay on the path. (Many markers along trail). I would also recommend getting dropped off and picked up at either ends. I thought at first it was one way up and back. We started it at 2pm and were done at 3:40 taking our time.

Love this park and its views! Go early in the morning for the least crowds and coolest weather. It is also a short walk from the Four Seasons Scottsdale resort. The great part of visiting in the morning is enjoying all of the wildlife. Most of this trail is quite easy/mild, but about 1/5th is a pretty intense workout with lots of climbing. There are signs warning of such, so no need to worry!

We arrived at 6:30 am on Sunday and the parking lot was full and it’s a fairly big lot. Crowded with lots of runners. Saw all ages, though not really a leisurely walk. Most of the back side of the trail is high elevation steps (down, then back up) which can be hard on the knees. Don’t need hiking shoes for this one as the entire trail has been smoothed and groomed. Most people had on running shoes. At least half of it was shady early in the am but there are stretches that are exposed and summer gets hot fast! Over all it has beautiful views, nice elevations, and is a well maintained and well marked trail. Probably won’t go back in the summer due to heat and running crowds but will see how it is in the fall. Oh, and it’s 3.5 miles out and back.

Beautiful views of the valley on both sides. There is a visitors center with some super nice volunteers to assist you. Restrooms are clean and the parking lot is a good size. Be sure to have water, youll need it for the hike. The trail is clear with some built in steps. There are 2 look out spots with seating as well. Breathtaking views around every corner, this is easily my favorite hiking and I use that term loosely (very moderate) trail. I love how over the years my kids have evolved from loving the trail for its spectacular views to running it for exercise. Bring your camera and take a lot of photos along the way. It takes us 25 minutes to get to the highest point on the trail 2889 FT., there is a small orange sign posted which is a great spot for a photo. From here we usually turn back, but many continue on. As always when hiking be sure to bring water and stay on the trail. There are washrooms at the entrance along with an information centre. This facility has plenty of parking. I also recommend going early in the morning and catching the sunrise from up above!Peace!

What a great hike in North Scottsdale. Well marked trail with 2 look out spots along the way. I am an avid hiker and it takes about 1 hour in and out. Most people probably it would take 1.5 hours. Hike up and over 2 peaks and they same trail on the way back. Sometimes crowded avoid peak times. Beautiful early in the morning or right before closing. Bathrooms and water on site. They also do a great calendar with photos taken from the area. Highly reccomend this trail for a nature break. Next door to the four seasons resort. Points of interest are marked along the trail. Overall a nice trail to hike. The parking lot does get full pretty quick so if you want to snag a spot, Id say go there early morning. Also, the trails can get very busy too. A bit too busy for my liking if I had to be honest- especially if you go during the peak hour time of late morning on a weekend when everyone is awake and ready to workout. Some people go a bit fast too and some are a bit slow, causing occasional clogs on the trail.Crowds aside, the views are very nice. Within 5 minutes of starting on the trail, you immediately start getting a nice birds eye view of the Scottsdale area. The trail is one way in and the same way back, so you dont have to worry about getting lost either. Its like a camel hump pattern- you go up, then down, then up , then down again and then if you choose- you can continue the sandy path that will lead you to a metal gate that you can cross and then walk for about 2-3 minutes and then you hit the street.A word of caution: there is a sign at the very last downhill that says strenuous past this point. Take heed, because although downhill might not be too bad, once you turn around and climb up, thats where you will feel that exertion. :D
