Always used to have the highest regard for his galleries and have purchased in the past. But my mother passed away 11 years ago and I emailed them detailed photos of her turquoise jewelry asking for any info they could give on it. Followed up witj a call that afternoon and was pretty much brushed off and haven’t heard back from them. Amerindian.com however did respond and gave me some great info so thank you to them. Gilbert Ortega’s obviously only cares about one thing, soaking their customers for everything they can with no regard for offering any other service whatsoever.

Gilbert Ortegas. The essence of the South West culture. A treasure trove of the finest American Native wares and artistic creations, beautifully displayed and available for immediate purchase. Furniture, jewelry, ceremonial and fine art items share a unique sales floor. The buildings architecture harmonizes with the merchandise, lending to a feel that you are trading in an old time trading post. The proprietor; the grandson of a trading post operater; who passed along the enterprise to his son, Gilbert Sr., who in turn passed the enterprise to his son; Gilbert Jr., who still runs it today.Anyone visiting old town Scottsdale, should definitely put Gilbert Ortegas on the itinerary, youll not want to miss out magic of this place.

The gallery is dead center of old town Scottsdale. A beautiful quiet place during the day. I bought a rock slice and 2 crystals. Lil pricey. But great... I had trouble finding what I wanted... they have lots of jewelry. But so did every other store there. I wanted something different. I googled Crystals.#deserttreasure store in carefree was the best visit I ever made. Thanks to Gilberts tiny area of 2×2 area.Thank you for making me browse anothers shop filled with rocks, minerals, etc... Then afterwards the sunset. With just the landscape. No tall building, or street line lights. Sunset well worth it.45 min drive.

This Gallery is located in Old Town Scottsdale. There is much to see and marvel at. There are some very unique pieces both in furniture and jewelry and the price tags reflect that. This is a pretty pricey joint.

I went in to sell a Squash Blossom necklace, & was interested in buying some new pieces. A lady named Marina, told me to sit down and have a seat. Well I had that seat for 2 and 1/2 hours. SHE ( MARINA) FORGOT ABOUT ME and after all that time waiting, Gilbert Ortega himself had left. She kept looking at me, but she never asked me, what am I waiting for, after that long amount of time that Im sitting there.Im waiting for the guy to buy my Squash Blossom, and asked MARINA in the beginning, how long is the wait, & asked twice, how much longer?. This lady Marina assures me hell be out. She even says to me .... I know youre waiting, & that shell let him know again, that Im waiting for him. After two and a half hours, and thats just sitting on a bench, (I was walking around the store before that), I get up I go ask her how much longer she looks at me like shes totally confused, I say Im waiting for the owner to appraise my piece of jewelry, Marina states. oh he left, he wont be back for a few days. Im in the store 3 hours, waiting on a bench 2 and 1/2 hours, because I dont wanna miss her calling me.3 hours or a little better, I was in Gilbert Ortegas in Scottsdale. I was treated badly, forgotten about, and minimum of three hours of my day wasted, waiting for someone to forget about me. MARINA WAS RUDE, from the get-go!How can somebody blatantly forget you, when youve shown your necklace, at the time you spoke with them & , youre sitting within ten feet of them watching them.??

I use to live in Phx but now I am out of state. I had my grandmothers old squash necklace repaired there. Wow, I could not believe they actually could repair it and how fast they did it. I have also bought several items there and they guarantee the work on their items. Which is incredible.

Some nice jewelry and other items. I dont have a problem with expensive furniture or fine art pieces, but this place is trying to trade on their location to sell tacked together borderline IKEA grade stuff at prices that would still be a little high for artisan crafted furniture or original artworks. I do give them 2-3 stars for some of their jewelry and having quite a bit of style in what they pick.

About 5 years ago, I purchased a rawhide drum from one of the Ortega Galleries in Scottsdale. Over time, it has warped and is basically falling apart. I called to see if there was something that they could do and/or if they stood behind their products. I was abruptly told No, we do not guarantee any of our products. I am sorry this happened to you.Needless to say, I will never purchase anything from this business in the future and I cannot recommend them.A No Stars rating is appropriate.
