Loved this place. Truly a gem. With more money to spend (I’m a broke college kid), I would’ve bought a lot. The owner was great. He talked to us when we wanted, left us to browse and didn’t stare us down the entire the entire time. Really love the Dr. Seuss images. They were incredible!Check it out, even just for browsing. It was quite a good experience.

I happened upon this over the weekend and really enjoyed myself. A very well picked eclectic mix of art, jewelry, and books with some alcohol to keep everything mellow and warm. Definitely worth a visit if you come to town.

Words dont adequately describe Phillip, his crew and the gallery. All around amazing people that have that style, taste and grace so many other galleries lack. The showroom is like you are in a dream with art that takes your imagination to another level. Cant wait to visit it again.

We stopped in November 4th and had a delightful time with Phillip. So very interesting. He made us feel right at home. His artwork is awesome. I wish I could buy everything in his showroom. I am an interior designer, it takes a lot to impress me.

First of all, I dont usually write reviews. Im writing one for Anticus because this place struck me as so out of the norm for stores of its kind. Like many other reviewers, I stumbled upon the store while visiting Scottsdale and Im so glad I did. My husband, uncle and I went in to browse and we were greeted by Cindy (I hope I have her name right) who was warm, welcoming, and could not have been more helpful. The store is inviting from the outside and, once inside, it does not disappoint. I could have sat there all day among the books, beautiful works of art, and gorgeous jewelry, but we were unfortunately short on time.On a 2nd trip back to the store on the same day, we got to meet the owner and sculptor, Phillip, who was just as kind and warm as Cindy had been to us. Its no wonder this place has so many 5 star reviews and happy customers.We made several gift purchases (all which will be treasured) but I could see from the short time I was there that each person who entered that store was treated with the same warmth and level of service whether they came in to browse, sit or make a purchase.Have since told many people about this store ...I wish Phillip and his staff and artists much success.

A group of art lovers attended a sculpting demonstration by Phillip, the owner - it was very informative, educational and an all around wonderful evening. The store is a very interesting blend of books, art, jewelry and more - very much like being in your own home. Great selection of jewelry - have purchased several pieces at Anticus. Service is very personal and friendly - a refreshing way to do business!

Anticus is a store that you feel very comfortable in and can browse the exhibition of books, fine art and jewelry at your leisure and not be pestered by sales staff. A very warm and iviting atmosphere.Our interest was mystery and movie books. The layout of these sections is interesting and inviting.The original sculptures are masterpieces.

This is a wonderful gem of a store. Great vibe. The art is incredible and diverse and sometimes you can meet the artists. Great eclectic books and areas to sit and enjoy your read. They have game nights, book club nights and other events. So glad there is a store like this in Northern Phoenix/ Scottsdale. The staff is great too.

Incredible staff, unique items and a real at home feel. I highly recommend stopping in for books, art or jewelry. They host little events at their store which look to be pretty cool too (havent gone to one YET).

The woman working the floor was very friendly. The dog that met us at the door was super friendly and really enjoys a good belly rub. The artwork was beautiful, the sculptures were great and the book selection and layout was wonderful. Well be back soon!!

They have a really good variety of things to look at in the shop. The people who work there are also very nice were very helpful. I would return and purchase more items from them.

This places work is AMAZING!!! Me and my dad are visiting Arizona and stumbled upon this place and is probably one of the coolest stores I’ve ever been to! They were super awesome and easy to talk to and it was overall a fun time. This is also coming from a 15 year old who’s never really been to interested in art but this place was amazing. This place is a must see if you ever go to Arizona!

I found this bookstore/gallery a few weeks ago, after a recommendation from friends in the book business. Anticus is a gorgeous venue and a breath of fresh air in the Scottsdale art scene. They had me at books, and kept me browsing with beautifully crafted and curated art. Looking forward to stopping in again, soon!

The guys who run the bookstore are AWESOME!! I was in town for a conference and stopped in to get directions during the heat of the day. I was on a mission to find a store that carried AAA batteries. I did not have a car and discovered the nearest store was still too far to walk. They provided me with not only a bottle of water but also the 3 batteries I was in need of. Very grateful for their warm hospitality. I hope to make it back before I leave town so I can spend more time to explore the store!

My wife and I decided to have our daughter babysat and went on a spontaneous date to this area! On our first date 7 years ago we found a special book that has branched into our relationship in indescribable ways. When my wife saw this store, she immediately wanted to see inside. We went in and we loved the beautiful display or art, from beginning clay processes to finished art from local artist, to books from every genre, including books on political from every point of view to interesting one offs that will catch your eye. We ultimately left when a book based on the movie My Neighbor Tortoro, which was my favorite childhood movie!

The atmosphere felt very relaxing. They had books that no other book store stocked. Beautiful art work, nice jewelry, very inviting staff. I encourage people to go check this place out. You’ll be glad you did!

Our visit was short but truly inspiring and educational. We were wandering by, admiring the beautiful art in the window when we decided to pop in on a whim. The owner was happy to answer our questions, explain intricate art processes to us, and show us unique pieces that all had stories to tell. I am not an artist nor much of an art enthusiast but our visit was a genuine pleasure. We just might start filling up some of our big empty walls on the house.

A Hidden Gem! Mixing sculpture, sunlight, books, a cafe, nicely priced jewelry, and a sweet dog, this shopping space has something for everyone. I cant believe its been around for over two years, and Im only just now discovering it. When Barnes and Noble left Kierland, I felt unhappy that there was no bookstore to prowl ... now I feel glad to find this wonderful spot to fill the niche!

I was a resident of Scottsdale for years and now I come back to visit family 4 times a year. I have taken my Grandmother multiple times( she is in a wheel chair ) , she loves Anticus and it’s very roomy and spacious to wheel her around to all the delights. I have also taken my Aunt and Uncle and my mother.Please do yourself a favor, go to this very special place. It is a cultural treat in Kierland where you can experience an escape away from the retail. You can have a glass of wine and read a book on the sofa, pet Chewbacca the cutest dog that looks like a teddy bear and have the opportunity to see such a dynamic collection of visual art.I have purchased art and books from Anticus and it has always been a pleasure. Please do yourself a favor and go.(And take a loved one️)

I spent most of an afternoon visiting with Philip during a trip in January, 2019. What a beautiful store with artwork that I couldnt wait to purchase. Some of Philips bronze sculptures were very impressive , two I still plan to purchase when we have finished moving. But how I enjoyed and learned about the artwork in my discussion with Philip. This gallery is a rare gem in the Sonoran desert. The gallery owner, Phillip, is a master sculptor with a tremendous eye for all kinds of magnificent art. From original oils on canvass, to sculptors of all designs and sizes, to handcrafted furniture, to hard bound and hard to find books, you will be assured of finding a beautiful piece of art which will enrich your life. In addition, Phillip is very down to earth, easy to talk to, and is reasonable with the pricing. He also hosts regular events with a featured artist which adds immeasurable to collecting a piece from that artist. I cannot recommend this gallery more highly. You will be richly rewarded by visiting.

My granddaughter Natalie and I discovered Anticus when she was in town visiting. An aspiring artist, she and I were searching for galleries and I remembered one in Kierland. When we walked into Anticus, we fell in love with it. A combination art gallery and book store, we felt like we could curl up on a couch and stay there forever. And I was really impressed with how she, at 16, was treated with respect and every question was answered kindly. Bonus -- usually Chewie the dog will great you happily at the door. Whats not to love? Ive been back a few more times to watch the live sculpting demo from the owner. You owe it to yourself to check this place out!

What a wonderful experience in customer service! Had a friend in from Australia, and happened to wander in....met Phillip the owner and artist who was delightful and gave us a tour and told stories about the pieces of art. It was such a refreshing experience, not being pestered to buy, but really engaging you with the art. They have added books to the store too. I would highly recommend a visit to Anticus, especially if you are looking for some interesting pieces of art for your home or business!

What an amazing experience! My girlfriend and I went near closing time recently. We were greeted by the owner and an employee with the store. They were both extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They took the time to answer our myriad of questions and even treated us to some wine and had us sit down and watch a short clip about how sculptures are made. It felt like we were visiting friends more so than an art gallery. Definitely recommend to anyone!

Just discovered Anticus a few months ago and was very impressed by the selection of fine art, books and jewelry. I was so thrilled with the jewelry that I had to purchase a few pieces. One of the most authentic, diverse, and wholesome art gallery and book stores I have been to. The artists and atmosphere were kind and inviting. It was definitely a highlight of my time in Phoenix and I would have spent more time there had I been able to.

Atticus is a charming shop in the Kierland shopping area owned by a young sculptor and his wife. They have beautiful art for sale as well as books and artisan jewelry. They hold a monthly book club discussion along with many artist receptions and demonstrations. Art work is high quality and the prices reflect that. It is the kind of local business that is worth supporting, and now that they have expanded their offerings, there are affordable options for everyone. Great place to browse and buy.

My wife and I stopped in after dining at a nearby restaurant. I find that most galleries have one or two artists that I like and a lot that seem to be filler. Not here. The art across all mediums was exceptional. Standouts were Ken and Phillip Paynes bronze work, Paige Bradleys sculptures, and BC Nowlins paintings. Phillip and his dog Chewie made us feel welcome and enthusiastically answered questions. Great experience!
