Beautiful hike with wide trails. Id rate this a beginner hike. Slow steady incline with beautiful views of the Bay area. Bring a water bottle because it will get hot, however there are periods of tree and shade which provides a nice respite.A nice family hike which I highly recommend. Its dog friendly and perfect for social distancing.

Closest place to where I live. Good hikes with some views, go during weekdays for less people. Dog friendly and they have porta potty restroom.

Plenty of parking in the neighborhood even during COVID. Unfortunately not a lot of shade throughout the trail, specifically on a hot day it may feel excruciatingly long with the inclines. The 2 mile Mine hike isnt bad, pure dirt trail with plenty of space between other hikers. Lots of folks bring dogs. Great sporadic views throughout. Portapotties at the entrance to the trails is a plus with maps available to grab and go.

Nice historical trial. Best is to follow the map in the other sense not starting from number 1. The ascent is less steep at the beginning and the descend is steeper at the end but this is better once tired.

Most of the trail is well shaded. And most importantly to me, it’s dog friendly! It’s a bit difficult to park at the trail head. You have to park in the neighborhood. But you can always find empty spots a few blocks away.Beautiful view on top of hills. You can see San Jose downtown on good days.

This is a nice hike in San Jose calm, peaceful and wooded. Winding trails make it pleasurable. Some patches are having soft clayee soil and so may not be fit if it rains.

Love this spot. The hiking trails come in many different levels. The views are great of San Jose and if you go on a longer trail get even better. Parking can be a pain, but its worth it. Grab a friend or go solo and enjoy the outdoors hiking.

One of my favorite hiking places in the Santa Cruz Mountains, lots of history plus a lot of different types of trails. It has the easy loop of the McAbee entrance to the steeper trails on the New Almaden entrance its really a super place for hiking. I dont know of too many places where you can hike to a old cemetery and visit 2 former mining towns in Spanishtown and Englishtown in the same day. Plus it has incredible views of Mt. Umunhum, Loma Prieta and the Santa Clara Valley.

On this hike you will see the remains of the old concrete cinnabar roasting ovens that spewed mercury laden particulates all over the area for many years. After roasting the mercury laden rock in the ovens, the leftover mercury-contaminated rock was disposed of in piles in the local area, and some of it was later used to build trails. It could be considered to be a hazardous waste site. This doesnt mean that that your kids will necessarily lose I.Q. points or you will necessarily get cancer, but why take a chance?
