The Green Room at the War Memorial is an exquisite location to host significant events with dignitaries. I had the pleasure of attending the 73rd Independence day celebrations organized by the Indian Consulate on August 15th - the city hall across the street was lit up in the Indian national colors - saffron, white and green. A sight to behold.The facilities at the venue are worthy of royalty!

The place was very beautiful and was the one of best place I have ever visited in my life. If you ever get a chance to go to San Francisco you should definitely visit the place and enjoy the day there. I totally love the place and enjoyed the time in the place

Beautiful place. Fascinating history and the murals are so striking. Great acoustics, a big concert hall sound with a small intimate venue vibe.

What a fun night , this is one beautiful amazing place . I really enjoyed the view of the city from the out side balconies. The people who work there are very nice .

Amazing theater. Seeing the Nutcracker is always a great treat. Balcony seats are preferred, and I’m glad we got them.

One of our favorite places in the city. We really enjoy going to the opera there. Superb. The parking is a little tricky, so we always leave early.

I saw Tosca here. The nosebleed balcony seats were.. okay. Acoustically, the orchestra was much too loud and often covered up the singers. The subtitles appear above the stage and were readable. Perfectly acceptable seats given the price.

Absolutely amazing!!! The play was overall very entertaining and the musical accompaniment was a mark of true professionalism. Highly recommend this for plays anytime.

Got to see the Black Cinderella, it was wonderful!

Excellent space to experience Opera. Architecture is one of a kind.

They let the members in an hour before the show. They make the rest of the guests stand in line for an hour out in the hall back like the days of second class citizens. There are elderly and inferm people excited to see the Symphony standing and waiting for an hour with no chairs in (albeit) marble halls. If they want to make sure there is enough seating for members they can reserve an area of seating. And then let the non members in to sit as well. If the non members werent treated like second class citizens and maybe treated like first class citizens maybe they would be more inclined to sign up as members.

This years nutcracker was a delight to see especially with the 75th anniversary. Catching a ballet or an Opera is a must.

At the War Memorial Opera House for the Nutcracker. Always a wonderful performance. The building is decorated for Christmas, with lights and trees up in the lobby.

Always welcome feeling. Good military people there though you dont have to be to çome. One of my favorite buildings in the city .

Truly a magnificent setting for an evening at the opera. Loved the classic interior, great acoustics, orchestra view from the boxes which by the way can be quite slanted. Customary refreshments are available at the inside cafe at intermission. This locale is somewhat close to public transportation with lots of walking but it is hard to get a taxi or rideshare after performances.

Beautiful 1933 building recently completed major earthquake retrofitted. Excellent restauration and repurposing of spaces formally occupied by SFMOMA.

Always a great place to visit. Great place to learn history about foreign and domestic wars.

A majestic and impressive venue for all types of gatherings. The view of City Hall at night is awe inducing.

I love tbis building! A must see on any visit to San Francisco. This beautiful, grand old performing arts center, built in 1932, harkens back to the great age of beau arts/classical architecture, originally hosted the first meeting for the United Nations and is currently the home for the SF Opera. It also pays homage to war veterans of all wars. The design and detail could be covered in a semester of college. A rich history the moment you walk through the door.

Always a great place for performances. Had dinner in the Green Room for the first time and the food catered for a group of about 100 was delicious!

This is a gorgeous old-school theater space with amazing acoustics. Attending as a representative of a community partner to the SF Opera (Compass Family Services) I enjoyed both a behind the scenes look at how all the moving parts (volunteer ushers, coffee service, community partners, staff, education Dept., front of house management) fit together to form a cohesive whole; and a complete SF Opera patron experience. Its a Wonderful Life was a wonderful first introduction to Opera, and a lovely beginning to the holiday season.

Very upscale. Nice Atmosphere. Fabulous musicians. Elegant. Nice tribute to the Soldiers with Soil from foreign lands encased in marble, surrounded by the peacefulness of water singing softly to those Who Gave All.Great place. (Outside thru the tall gates) Inside just as fabulous.

It took a while to build and with controversies but worth a visit. A tranquil oasis in the City.

I love history. First time in this building. The murals on the walls are priceless history come to life. The beginning of the modern world happened right here with the UN being established. I personally found it amazing. If a tourist in SF and into real history, do put this building on ur to do list while visiting.

Perfect sized venue. Ushers are accommodating and helpful. SF Ballet has very expressive dancers. The live orchestra pairs well with the ballet.

Herbst is a nice medium-size theatre with pretty good acoustics.

Beautiful inside and out. Many stairs are here so probably dangerous for those unable the cross easily.

A must visit in San Francisco..Free Concerts, and great art , wikth lectures as well. Alos a nice restaurant for a nice lighter fare.

This is one of the greatest grand dame Opera houses of the world, and tonights performance of Dvoraks Rusalka was Grand Opera at its finest--brilliant sets, gorgeous and passionate singing, fabulous orchestra. World class all the way.

Should be used by more organizations. Kudoos to the Tango dancers for using one of the rooms on a regular basis. Even parking was easy ...in the evening.

Wonderful theatre. Very classical atmosphere

Really awesome venue, everything is beautiful inside and the centerpiece chandelier is incredible.The seats definitely feel like youre in an old theater though, very small and difficult to sit in if you are tall. Would not miss out on a show at this venue, but wish there was a bit more room for legs. And the bar is super expensive...

Excellent accoustics, interesting murals. The Green Room is worth visiting, especially for a dance performance. The war memorial museum is ok. Dont miss the UN painting.

As Beautiful inside, as it is outside...Outside offers views of city hall war memorial and opera house,with a Cool little park-Dogs are okay.

A beautiful venue, but be prepared for uncomfortable small seats and a lot of stairs. There is an elevator, but it is very small and there is always a long line.

Beautiful building super high ceilings. Immaculate public restrooms.

I worked there amazing venue. Lots of History. Way. Back to the Speak Easy. Days inside still original carpets and still the same down in the. Dressing room areas

Went with a girlfriend to see a play. The venue was a small theater on the fourth floor, very cozy. Perfectly matched nearness of audience to performers. I would definitely visit again.

We went here for a wedding and it was a fantastic venue. The balcony area is great for cocktail hour.

Pretty intimate feeling even though I s quite large. Dont miss the new deal murals.

Visited for my daughter graduation

Saw the sleeping beauty ballet here most recently and it was stunning. The production is absolutely incredible. This is always a beautiful venue to visit whether it be for ballet or opera. Well staffed, clean, and organized

Gorgeous theater, dont miss the murals or the awesome reception area in the basement. Has good wheelchair seating.

Other than the fact that the toilets are quite low (what you might find in a kindergarten classroom) it was a lovely venue.

You can feel the history and the staff is always so helpful and happy to help cheers to the ushers that have been helping for decades now always with a smile a lovely stories

Attended a performance in the Taube Atrium Theatre. Lovely clean space with great acoustics. Excellent venue for small theatre.

A great performance and hospitable staff. This is my 2nd time visiting; both times were to see a play and I enjoyed myself each. I will definitely be back!

Great place for theatrical venue. The theater is inside the War Memorial Performing Arts building. The sound system & lighting is really good.I love the balcony booth seating.The old building was completed its earthquake renovation a couple years ago. You wont be able to see the difference before it was remodled.

Beautiful place full of history and architecture

The Green Room is absolutely beautiful, we wers there for a Christmas Eve dinner. Beautiful plus the history of the treaty that was signed there creating tbe U.N.

Entire public complex at Civic Center, SF, majestic in scale, high in utility, and fairly well maintained. The lighting of City Hall across the street makes an evening visit worth it.

No need to go to Europe to witness a spectacular building with fantastic architecture and decor. Opened in 1932 and since then the city of SF has never been the same. Words cant describe how ornate, elaborate and original this place is. Great opera and ballet plays, if in SF you should definitely check it out. A classic treasure to admire in SF.. I mean it.

Nutcracker performance was fantastic. The Ballet Shop sells a large variety of Nutcracker ornaments as well as fashion and jewelry.

A gem of a building. Some new seats would be nice, but still a very special place, with stellar resident companies, Opera & Ballet.01/20 update! Seats are going to be replaced!

Ahhh. The War Memorial, always way way way too hot inside, the concessions way too limited, for get about using the restroom at intermission, but the shows there are amazing. We are cheap seat season ticket holders to the Opera and ballet and think it is a sublime experience.

Very beautiful location, went to 2 diferent events not on the same day, but it was a film festival for the Veterans & a weddings.

Classic auditorium. We sat in the center of the orchestra section, about 10 rows back, for the guitar concert of Brazilians Yamandú Costa and Guto Wirtti. The acoustics were great.

Tgis beautiful venue is always clean, elegant and memorable.

Music and environment go together. Watched / listened to Tosca. Great experience.

This is a 5 star place for veterans to get help for them self or family they have many classes availableand many outing a one of a kind spot that cares if your a veteran 2nd floor nth west corner of the building next to the mens room is all the resources you will need to fill you day in a positive way ,So have fun growing and putting those skills we worked so hard to develop at work or play

Beautifully restored theater for a variety of entertainment. Its a little jewel box. Food available on sight and near many other local sites.

Historically restored to its original granduer, this is the location of the signing of the UN Charter among many notable events. This is the type of space that makes San Francisco one of the great cities of the world.

I daydream about beautiful spaces.I am fascinated by architecture, how the use of light and structure can really enhance space and peoples interaction with space. The Green Room in the War Memorial Performing Arts Center is one of those rooms that become ingrained in your imagination evermore.I loved it completely from the green walls, high ceilings, multiple grand chandeliers, and crown molding. It felt like something straight out of a dream or perhaps a black and white film where red lipstick, gloves, and cigar smoke are entirely appropriate.I cannot wait to host an event here! (Wait can I host your event here?)

This spot was an awesome photo spot. Especiallu with the sun rising and setting. You also get an excellent view of the Golden Gate Bridge.
