Not a lot of drink options but the drinks themselves were pretty good. The people working there(I might be wrong) cant seem to get off the pool table. Enjoyed the Latin social dancing event with some great accompanying music.

We took a Cocktail Camp class here and it was super fun! The bartender and instructor was super knowledgeable, friendly, and taught us how to make an old fashioned, a margarita, and gin and tonic. There’s a fun photo booth for $5 (takes Apple Pay!) and skeeball machines in the back. Super fun experience!

I came here for one of their storytelling open mic nights and had a blast! The folks were super friendly and meeting a bunch of new people in a relaxed environment was exactly what I was looking for. Good times

It was so nice, the Harder Better Faster Stronger party was really good, good music and dancing all night.

The staff here is fine, but the clientele is mostly comprised of twenty something hipsters with attitude and a chip on their shoulder. The interior is old and could use a face lift. The neighborhood has been extensively gentrified, which is great for business--but dont expect people to be friendly. Most patrons are completely in their own world and preoccupied with their phones, drugs, or their own clique of work acquaintances. Ive been here a few times with friends and never found it comfortable. Give it a pass and go to a nice bar, instead.

Cool tucked spot on 16th. Friend had a bday party here and the atmosphere is very chill, its not a big space but just enough room for a small/medium size get-together. Drinks are nicely mixed and thats always A-1!

Came here with friends a few times and always had a great time. On karaoke Thursdays, the KJ has the place hopping and sometimes breaks out a horn. They have a live band playing covers on other nights. The crowds a good mix, and the staff knows whats up. In short, a perfect neighborhood spot.

I was here on a Wednesday night for pool. There was a bocce ball league playing the same night with a DJ/announcer who played awesome music. Slate featured a popup kitchen for the evening that was really good. The drinks are reasonably priced and the atmosphere was great for good times. I would definitely return for a drink and some pool. There is a enclosed, open air smoking area which was nice as well.

I went there to check Issa Vibe that happens every 4th Saturday of the month.All I can say is if youre into Afrobeat or Afro House, this is the night. Really had fun and the crowd was great. Will go back for sure

Really glad I found this place! I came here with two friends, and loved the atmosphere. Everyone here, from the bouncer to the bartender and other patrons, were super-friendly, which is saying a lot for the CA. Great selection of cocktails, wine and other drinks. Very chill place to kick back at the end of the week.

I dont think Ive ever been to Slage except on Thursday nights which is DJ Purple karaoke. So this is more of a review of DJ Purple and IT IS AWESOME. Seriously one of the best nights you can have in SF. Thursdays at 930! Come!

Awesome bar. I play skee ball there every week. Its just a chill, friendly bar to hang out in.

Decent spot. Cocktails are pretty solid, and they have karaoke if thats your thing. Beer list could use some love, but youll find something youre happy with.

This place is the place to party if youre looking for good hiphop. Professional staff, good drinks, great atmosphere and not too crowded where youre bumping into people. Props to management.

This place was really fun the night I went in. They had a theme party going on which was really cool. Everyone there was really fun to be around and the atmosphere was pretty good as well.

Spacious bar with various cocktails and a great sound system. Happy hour is from 5-9pm, and they have a little window where you can order some food from the next door restaurant, Starboard. Bonus: They now have skee-ball in the back!

By far my favorite bar in the city! Great happy hour (which seems to be always), amazing pool table, bartenders are awesome, tons of fun themed nights like Karaoke on thursdays for example... Only great things to say about this place !

Nice place but their New Years 2015 party was horrible!! By 12:30 DJ Twin Spin and DJ David V had all the people dancing and celebrating out of there. It was unbearable!!Playing old school hip hop and R&B classics while spinning the turntables out of rhythm was torture for any human being with limited musicianship and rhythm ability.

Service was sub par and they layout is super awkward. The bands playing when I went were great but the acoustics of the place was terrible. Overall my experience was just ok. There are much better bars in their neighborhood. But at least they have skee ball and pool. Doubt I will ever go back

Rockin dance floor and cocktails

When DJ Purple is in the house prepare to have your dreams of being a pop star come true. This man will back you up when you forget your lyrics, get the crowd dancing to your tune and whip out a real saxophone to rip something so smooth youll start calling him DJ Angel Sax.

The club at Slate sf was really fun, it was my first time going there, yet Ive been to DNA Lounge and it was a lot of fun as well.

The old school parties are great! Dj spins great throwbacks. Drinks are reasonable.

Upon walking into this small but delightful bar, you are greeted with a plethora of concrete and a sleek bar. In the back corner there is a pool table. Just to your left, near the door, is a DJ booth. I came here on a very quiet Tuesday night for a couple games of pool. They did not have any beer on draft but plenty to offer in a bottle. With a full service bar and wine, Im sure you can find a drink to meet your needs. They had a special with tacos running, but I ate before we got there. Id like to come back and check this place out on a Friday or Saturday.

Their happy hour goes until 9. Also have several leagues going on throughout the week.

Came here for karaoke. A friend described it as watching multiple car accidents in slow motion, you simply couldnt look away.

I liked the post-modern decor but on this stretch of 16th I think the non-dive vibe and the relatively high prices hold back the spirit of karaoke madness that we all crave. On the other hand, its a good place for a quiet chat in the early evening.

My friends and I came to Slate on a Saturday night to celebrate some birthdays and it was poppin -- $10 cover, music blasting, drinks flowing, DJs helping the crowd get their moves on! Slate is a confusing establishment because you never know what kind of nightlife venue it might turn into. We expected a casual/cool/relaxed lounge vibe (since the reviews mentioned a pool table and couches), but wound up with trendy/loud/crowded dance club. If I knew, I wouldve thrown my party dress on!Drinks:$3-6 for beer selection$10 cocktailsI particularly enjoyed their whiskey-based cocktails - well mixed, creative, still strong yet incredibly refreshing for a non-whiskey drinker like myself. You definitely arent buying well drinks at Slate for $10 a piece!My largest gripe - its a cash only bar. If youre planning to purchase a round of drinks, make sure to have enough cash on hand!

Nice bar with good cocktails and a solid sound system. This is a great nicer place to meet friends for drinks, and stumbling distance from BART.

A couple of friends and I threw a private event here last Saturday and everything was perfect!- Patty (the owner/manager/bartender/Jill-of-all-trades) is a baller. Shes incredibly responsive, efficient, and was key in everything going off without a hitch (even when we threw her a curveball last minute and asked to run the guest list off the Eventbrite Neon on an iPad)- The space is really well apportioned for appealing to a wide range of partygoers. Its thoughtfully and loosely sectioned off: theres a spacious dance floor in front of a sick DJ booth, a fairly well-lit pool table in back, fenced-off smoking area out front, a long bar along the whole side, and tons of low leather seating along the edges of the venue.- Patty and the whole crew were super accommodating of our need to fill the place with decorations! Setup was smooth (if laborious from the million of hanging decorations we set up) and she was around the whole time taking care of setup on her end. And a big thank you to Danny the bar manager for concocting a delicious drink menu to match the theme.Slate has such a fantastic vibe and Im so glad we found it for the event! Its well-put-together but not too fancy, comfortable but not too divey or kitschy, sleek but not slick. Loved it and cant wait to go back.
