If you can’t get down to the beach and want an elevated viewpoint of the Golden Gate Bridge with the sunset. This is your place! Depending on time of year check google on the time of sunset and arrive about 30min early to catch the views!

I look at things from a photographic standpoint. Does it make a good photograph and represent something significant about a location.Battery Godfrey, Baker Beach and the nearby Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center location do just that. Battery Godfrey is a one of a set of old fortifications that are on both ends of the Golden Gate Bridge. This one in particular gives you a great view of the bridge from an over the roadway perspective.Near the Battery, not only will you find some good viewpoints, there is a trail that actually goes under the Golden Gate Bridge access roads, to the other side.Watching the time of day, I found the Battery Godfrey visual perspective to be better in the late afternoon and evening, when the sun has crossed over it heading out towards the ocean. It provides a nice glow to the rust color of the bridge. Also around the blue hour when traffic on the bridge is heavy, you can capture the traffic streaks as you will see in one of these photographs.BEWARE- Dont leave anything of value in your car, when you park in the area. They candidly, will tell you, that this is a break-in area for cars. I witnessed the aftermath of a break-in, that happened to another tourist.

One of the dopest places to take pictures of the bridge, and the Presidio is certainly in no shortage of those. Lots of fun to run around, and the historical feel is a nice touch. Mad scenic.

This is an old army fort just south of the Golden Gate Bridge. The inner tunnels and caves are all locked up, but you can still walk around outside. Nice place to walk through as you walk south along the coast from the Golden Gate Bridge to Baker Beach. No restrooms.

I have been to San Francisco many times. however, as a photographer Ive been looking for a special angle at which to photograph the Golden gate bridge. I found that this battery Godfrey provides an excellent view straight down the middle of the road of the bridge going from San Francisco to Sausalito. star cheerleaders one evening as the sun was going down and got a couple of excellent photographs. I noticed a young couple standing near their car when I came in and parked. after finishing my photographs I noticed a police officer was behind my vehicle talking to the young couple. He asked me whether my window has been broken or anyone try to intrude into my vehicle. Told him no that did not happen. But, obviously it did happen to the young couple. Reading other reviews on this location in the case that it is a hotspot for having your car broken into. my rule is to never leave anything visible in my vehicle to even attempt the thieves. So what I am trying to tell you is even though this location provides a great view of the Golden gate bridge you must be extremely cautious because it is a hotspot for car break-ins.

Great place to visit. The family loved it, including the dogs! Had a wonderful short hike to the bridge. Definitely requires a light jacket as it gets pretty windy.

Warning! This is a car break in hot spot. Had my car window smashed within minutes of being there (along with another poor visitor) and valuables stolen. Police said it happens there all the time. Be careful. Take all valuable with you, or walk to the location. The view is good.

I dont know if there is much to see here directly, but the view of the Golden Gate Bridge is spectacular. Its especially a great vantage point for night photography and long exposure doors l shots of car lights crossing the bridge. You can walk through the battery and get up on the low rooftops for better unobstructed views.

When the weather permits a gorgeous day, this look out is an amazing sight to see. Usually very windy, always have a jacket in hand. Across the street, at the Fort Scott Field, you can find a little brick castle. Its always nice to find these little Easter eggs around the area.
