Clean, secluded, shady, restrooms - - easy to walk to - -. Just south of Spreckels Lake and the Polo Field - - what a place. And you get to watch expert fly fisherman practicing and /or giving lessons.

Went and witnessed the Spey Casting Championship. Good crowd and nice setup. Can get right close to the action. 3 separate ponds and semi secluded from other park activities. Looks like they keep it in good condition.

Situated in a historic building built especially for fishing, the owner/tenants are a friendly angling collective primarily focused on fly fishing. The few members I encountered on a visit were very engaging. This was my first time encounter with a casting pool. I loved it. Sequestered away from the main tourist draws in the golden gate park, its a little difficult to find but if you are a fly fisherman, you have to go there. You wont regret your visit.

Such an awesome hidden gem tucked away in Golden Gate Park. I recently got into fly fishing but needed a spot to practice casting before hitting the Sierras. The pools are free to use and well maintained. Every second Saturday they have a free casting lesson and I would highly recommend it. Tons of people show up and the teachers are excellent. If you love the hobby or want to try it out, this is the place to do it.

Almost unknown by many locals, free lessons are offered 2nd Saturday of every month 9 to noon. Lovely venue with 1938 lodge and 3 casting pools for flyfishing distance and accuracy practice.

Such a beautiful place and the club is very helpful. GGACC encourages the public to participate by providing gear and training for free on the second Saturday of every month. The casting ponds are open to the public all year. Anyone can come to practice or sit on a bench and watch.

Really nice location off the beaten path in the middle of Golden Gate Park, has public restrooms, probably less used and cleaner than the rest of the park! Out back are these very geometric pools for fly fishermen to practice casting. Hard to describe, you gotta see for yourself! Just an unusual site for being in the middle of SF. Just watch it if you hike out the backside, stay off the side trails theres some junky homeless encampment type stuff out there (like behind every secluded bush in GGPark) I got sympathy but the mess I saw was bad!

Small set of 3 rectangular ponds to practice with; slightly hidden from the rest of the park so generally peaceful.

Ponds where you can practice your casting. Competitions are held there. The lodge is beautiful and they organized monthly free classes on the 2nd Saturday.

GGA&CC is a big part of the history of fly fishing and fly casting on the west coast. Try to go there on a Saturday or Sunday to see it.
