Pink Floyd Laser Show was great!! Parking was excellent, security was great & very respectful to everyone. Tobin center was very clean & maintained. The only down fall was our seats. For a different event they would have been really good, but for this event they probably shouldnt be available. We list a lot of the experience of the laser show. All in all this was a great evening 4.5 stars.

Beautiful venue for all kinds of events, concerts, plays, and talks. No matter where you sit, you’ll have a great view. The lighting and sound system are spectacular. Try the burger and beer bar for a quick, satisfying bite or grab a snack located just before the entrance areas. This place is a wonderful contribution to the ever-growing art scene here in San Antonio.

I got tickets for a November concert. By the time I got home, they were in my email.Because of Covid 19, they are taking special precautions and we wouldnt know our specific seats for several weeks. On attending, you need to wear a mask that you may remove at your seats. At the box office, they were quick, helpful, and courteous.

The Tobin and Carlos Alvarez are awesome venues. Ive had seats all over, and never had a bad view. The staff (almost all volunteer, at least at performances) is very accommodating. The range of performers/acts means there is something for anyone. Below picture on the left is from the balcony (you can see over railing). Below picture on the right is from right orchestra, row Y.Edit: I attended a vaudeville performance at the Carlos Alvarez last week, which was essentially a variety show, with each act lasting a few minutes (a song). While the Alvarez is usually general admission, this show had assigned seats. For reasons I cant figure out, the ushers showed late comers to their seats in the middle of the acts, rather than waiting for a break! Where I was sitting (row 2), they walked back and forth in front of me numerous times. Its not enough to make me downgrade my overall rating yet, but another similar episode will. Also, and this isnt the Alvarezs fault, but audience members would also leave in the middle of acts. I have never seen such a rude audience. Unless they thought it was okay because the ushers were doing the same?

A uniquely memorable experience. There isnt a bad seat in the house! Get the box seats close to the stage at least once though. Totally worth it. Parking is a tad expensive, so plan to walk a distance if you dont want to drop the extra $10 - $25.Attached pictures are Box V, seats 1 and 2 (stage right, front box seats, lower tier). We were right on top of them! Amazing.

Clean, well spaced out and easy flowing lobby. The seats were comfortable, except you hardly have room in front of you, so it get into an aisle the people in the way have to all stand up and move. Pretty good view from all the seats. Parking is cheap, but usually not free. The pre-paid parking with your ticket is typically more expensive, so just find a lot near by.

My twelve-year-old son performed in the boys to MEN show on November 18,18 at Tobin Center for the Performing Arts. I have lived in San Antonio for a year and a half, so it was my first time there. The Center is stunning and clean. Even the bathrooms are to die for, and it was surprising that it has six floors. Its quite the sight. The show was fantastic and very well put together. Our seats were in the Orchestra left, and the view was perfect.Cons:The concession stands were not well stocked, and we had to go up to the fourth floor to get Popcorn which was the only snack available. The Popcorn was served in a see-through plastic bag, and it tasted okay. Not what I expect in a theater.Growing up in NYC I genuinely enjoy going to the theater, and I was excited for my children to experience the same, but sadly I was disappointed. The atmosphere at Tobin Center did not feel welcoming. I worked for one of the most prominent theatres in NYC, and friendly service was our number priority. The ushers do not walk you to your seatswhich was a first for me. Only a couple of the employees were friendly. Everyone else appeared unhappy to be there. Not even a smile.I am not sure if this was because it was a free show but that was my personal experience.I wouldnt mind attending another show in the future but the customer service and food where not up to par with the beauty of this theather.

All seats are great seats. The sound quality is excellent. Numerous entrances /exits so very little line wait. This is such a treasure in our city! The building is beautiful, the snacks are tasty and the staff so helpful and courteous. The best part is the theater itself, spacious but somehow cozy. Once again I have to say how much I love this place..l was wondering how a Reggae show,,Toots and the Maytalls was going to go over. With no dancing area. But when he took the stage the small to medium size crowd danced wherever they where..Toots had gotten better with age..Kudos to the staff and Booking staff for bringing this show.. the first time I saw him was in 1975..he was better then ever..with a great mix of old favorites and some new songs no one was disappointed.

Beautiful theatre, nice and clean feeling. The seats are comfortable. The bars in front of the seats get in the viewers way, if youre short or a child. Had to sit my daughter on my lap so she can see better. I know its a safety measure, wish they would have came up with a different alternative. All in all great place, we will return.

This was just sad. I took my daughter in a show of support for the arts. What a let down. We arrived on time for dinner and a show. Dinner was fine for the pricing, that I paid online. When it came time for the show to start we were the last to be checked out ( tried to charge me again.) and settled, making us late for a show, that we were informed that we would have to stand at the back to see, (Which was THEIR FAULT!) Despite paying a hefty premium for our seats. Basically been were charged for parking, (didnt drive there) dinner, and a show that we got to see from the back row. My advice? Skip all the expenses and just get cheap seats. At least then youll get your moneys worth.

First, there is not a bad seat in the house. No obstructions of any kind. The accoustics are simply wonderful. If you go on a Saturday or Friday night pay for the reserved parking. You wont regret it. The best part of the Tobin is the great customer service. Everyone from the parking attendant to the usher they all seem to be happy to work at the Tobin. Their smiles are infectious. We saw the Romeo and Juliet ballet. It was such a wonderful experience. My wife and I both cried at the end. The Tobin is wonderful.

The sound quality at this venue is the best in the city!Every event we have been to has been top notch in every way. From the ushers to the people that greet you at the door, everyone is super friendly and accommodating.**I highly suggest pre-gaming before you walk in to this venue. The beer and mixed drink pricing is astronomical. The beer selection could be better, especially at those prices. Considering that theres 16 breweries in town, just seeing one of them would be nice.On a positive note, theres amazing views regardless where you sit. So dont stress out if you dont get front-row seats!

We were seated in the middle of the 4th tier and I never felt the performance was distant at all. The sound quality was excellent as was the actual concert which was the Symphony playing Tchaikovsky. This is the third show that Ive seen at the Tobin since its remodeling. I am very impressed with the employees and their knowledge of the theater as well as the efficient way that each area of the Tobin is ran. There is no bad seat in the house! This particular show we saw Black Violin. Such a wonderful and interactive show and the only show that we were able to take photographs and video. The remodeling is definitely giving the Majestic Theater a run for its money in appearance but like I said here at the Tobin there are no bad seats in the House. I will definitely be coming to shows here at the Tobin because of this and prices.

La
Review №43

Our seats were in the lower balcony. The view was good, and a screen was used to help with the viewing of certain segments. The concessions and the restrooms were conveniently located. My only complaint is the cost of the concessions. The prices were ridiculous. For me it was easy to do without anything, but when you have a child with you who has challenges, you better take a whole lot of cash or make sure you have a large balance in your bank account. A half can of Pringles cost $5. I might have been willing to buy candy and chips for $3 and a non-alcoholic beverage for $4, but not $6. I had to act like the meanest grandma in history because my fixed income.does not allow me the privilege of making such outlandish purchases.

Helpful staff leading you every step of the way, such a beautifully designed building inside & out. Highest seats could be a bit cheaper, or actually the side balcony ones should as everyone was crammed up top and the sides were left bare. Parking is 10$, too much in my opinion. I wouldn’t dare let myself spend their exorbitant prices also on drinks and snacks. Cute cozy theatre overall.

I came here for the Stomp show tonight Feb 8, 2020 and it was a cool show with an appropriate old school play feel. The only downside is the seating is a bit cramped. I was 4th row from center stage and Im 6ft 185 and I was elbow a to elbow with my neighbors who were of average size as well. Thats the only reason I didnt go 5 stars. I asked if I could have an exchange on tickets well in advance of the performance as I had received news of a medical complication that will prevent me attending. The staff I spoke to on the phone were unhelpful (in calling, rude) and despite me offering to show medical documents and really just begging for assistance said I had agreed to the policy when buying the tickets (did so online and the refund policy was not laid out at that time). It’s an average venue, but if you want anyone to treat you like a human being, go elsewhere.
