1/14/2020 Wed. 1:24pm.. This place is a five bed room house, with beautiful grounds, exterior is just beautiful! Mr Mathis was a great collector of fine art and sculpture and of Napoleon most of that is in the first floor some on the other floors! The collection is seriously big from serious paintings to table settings, to letter openers, to his own death mask is on display to even the St. Frances was made into a very gorgeous lamp and renamed it San Antonio for our city! Gayle was our tour guide, I could have asked her so much and well she would have had all the answers! She was very informative and if time had allowed she would have given us more stories, this is a fascinating house and the man behind this home is just as fascinating!! Plus much more...

Love this place. My favorite museum. Beautiful house. Theres an antique violin player that still works, and the piano/organ pipes run through the house. Big yard that backs the SA river, peaceful & quiet.

The house is very pretty and well kept. A lot of very interesting artifacts... visited on a rainy day (entrance through the side, on the back alley). We felt a bit rushed as there as another group coming, but well worth it if you have time. The neighborhood (King William) deserves a walk-around, also...

Knick knacks done right. Home was donated along with over 12000 collected items to the National Historic Trust. Two docent led tours most days, but group size is limited so arrive early. Garden areas around house are open to walk through during usual hours. A short jog off the Riverwalk in the King William district, this is a great place to spend an hour as part of a larger visit to San Antonio.

I LOVE this place! I have been here at least twice, once to tour house/grounds, & the other for a jazz concert which was EXCELLENT(& w/free hors doeuvres & wine to boot!) Im traveling physician; usually only home one 4-day wknd/month. I WISH I were home more often-unfortunately most of the events Villa Finale has occur when Im not home, otherwise Id go more often.

Beautiful house. Worth the price of admission just to see all of the stuff collected by Walter Mathis. Free for National Trust members. Mathis grave is at the rear of the property. It was indeed his Villa Finale!

Visited San Antonio in April of this year...were taking the walking tour on aSunday morning...reading the descriptions of homes that I had printed fromthe King Williams website...when we came upon this Villa Finale andnoticed they had a flag out saying guided tours today... So we went tothe back area where they have a gift shop and bought tickets...we werein for a huge surprise...this house is jammed packed with collections ofeverything from circus figures to Napoleon artifacts... It is very beautiful inside andshows the years of restoration the consevation group put forth.

This is a great place to visit; we did a guided tour, and the tour guide was friendly, funny, professional, and very well-versed in her job. Thoroughly enjoyable, and a wonderful part of the city to explore.

Unique view into excentricity of wealthy deceased owner and life in old San Antonio. Must for antique buffs, though sadly nothing is for sale.

The house was very nice and the owners collections were interesting but a very objective opinion of my experience was, I paid $5 for a self guided tour of an old rich mans house. There were people who could answer questions but it was mostly walking around the first floor by ourselves having people standing by to answer our questions and I suppose make sure we didnt steal anything. I was told when covid is not going on the upper floor is open so there is that.
