We took my son to a show for his 16th birthday. They pulled him on stage, sang to him a funny version of happy birthday and then had him participate in a skit. It was so funny and so much fun. We would most definitely go back. We had a great time. Nice family fun. I want to go back for the adult only show as well.

A great, family friendly experience that left us satisfied yet still wanting more. There are many unique components to this particular brand of improv that make it even more entertaining, from the scoring system and announcer to the referee and penalties. We will definitely be coming back!

Fabulous entertainment! Early evening show is family friendly. 10:00 show is adult entertainment. We attended the family friendly show, and our son was called onstage to help with a skit. We loved it!

Super fun! We went to the earlier show (the one thats appropriate for kids) and I cried laughing. I laughed so hard it hurt. The adult show is 30 minutes later, but I couldnt convince my crew to stay. Ive been to over 5 improv places with friends and this is one of the best. Brilliant work!

Very reasonable pricing and an excellent show! While some of the improv actors are a bit more experienced than others, everyone works together to create great entertainment and a lot of laughs. I highly recommend stopping by if youre looking for something to do this weekend!

Great place for comedy. Great people and tons of fun. Their main show is like the Whos Line is it Anyway show. The one I saw is family friendly. Super fun. They also have classes.

This is my favorite thing to do on a Friday or Saturday night! This is very similar to “Whose Line Is It Anyway, ” but it’s live right here in SA! The talent is top notch and it’s always different each time we go. They are never vulgar or lewd, but they are still hilarious. The price is right and I love that they are a BYOB establishment.

It is so fun to come here! Everyone here are lively even before the show starts. You will be laughing from start to finish and after. It is a great place to go on a Friday/Saturday night for fun,to have a good time,anything!

I really enjoy this place. If youre into improv and laughs, check this place out. There is lots of audience participation and very family friendly. The space is a little tight, but while watching the show, you forget all about it.

Comedy Sports is a super awesome improv venue! Family friendly improv in a team style. They also occasionally have improv after dark for some more variety. I had the pleasure of watching When Can Do, a musical comedy group, perform some hilarious musical improv. Comedy Sports is a great place to go with the family, friends, or on your own. They have concessions and byob. You are guaranteed to have a great time! The venue is not well lighted on the outside but they are open! Located in a small shopping center across from Blossom Athletic Center. Dont let the outside fool you, inside is full of laughs, friendly faces, and truly fine comedy. Go laugh! 10/10

Very fun place for entertainment.

ComedySportz (Club 185) is my favorite destination for a girls night out, date night, or a family night. Consistently funny, always clean, great value, and so much fun! My face gets sore from smiling so much. Shows are every Friday and Saturday at 7:30 pm. You can bring in food and drink or buy chips/soda/candy at the concession stand. We have been going for years! We like it so much that my husband took several of their improv classes and is now one of the players.

If youre looking for a fun, entertaining and easy on your wallet night, This is your place. 5* FUN!!!

These folks are talented, no question, and the place is great. The earlier family show is well organized and run and very interactive and genuinely funny improv. The later adult show wasnt what we expected... It was truly improv but some of the performers werent really participating and clearly quite novice, plus the scenes were actually rather depressing with a lot of sullen acting. It was awkward to watch unfortunately. Not all of them, but most, and they dragged on and on to the extent that we were anxious for it to end. Again... Lots of talent but it kind of killed the mood at the end of the night. Its BYOB, clean, intimate. I would go back but select the performance more carefully, of course noting that no two nights would ever be the same.

I hadnt been to ComedySportz in years (since i was a little kid) and once I found out there was one in San Antonio I felt like I had to go.I was a little worried it wouldnt be as funny as I remembered it being when I was younger, but I was beyond pleasantly surprised.Going to this show was the most Ive laughed in a really long time as an adult, and the improv players were hilarious and talented, and the other staff were friendly and helpful. Despite the theme being family friendly (and kids are allowed), the entertainment is definitely good for all ages, and the place is even BYOB (which I need to remember for next time).I will definitely going back, soon - theres no reason not to! It a ton of fun, and the ticket prices are low enough for it to be reasonable to go even once a week if you really wanted to - its a different show every time and youll probably laugh more than if you went to the movies.Thanks for a fantastic time, CSz!

We had some friends from out of town come and we talked about how great it was and we were left disappointed because it wasnt the same as when it was on the west side of town. There was a brand new player and he seemed lost and at a loss for words, the timing was off. It just wasnt funny.

Update 2/16/2015:When I reviewed this the first time, I gave it 4 stars back when it was located near Helotes, TX on Bandera Rd. In October 2014, ComedySportz changed to a new location near the airport and I felt like it deserved 5 stars. Note that in my original review with 4 stars my only criticism was the physical location. The new venue is much better. Note that while the concessions booth does not serve alcohol, you are allowed to BYOB.Update 12/13/2013: After taking the classes, I tried out and made the team. I dont know if as a member this discounts my earlier review but I made it before I was a member of the organization.Original ReviewMy wife got tickets for us to celebrate my birthday and I was surprised how much fun I had. The venue is really really small and hidden behind a bank off Bandera road outside the loop. You pretty much have to know that it is there which is why the shows are not always packed. It is too bad because they are really funny and quick on their feet. Lots of laughs. After the first show I attended they made an announcement that they offered improv classes as well.I thought that you had to be born with a special acting skills and be super funny all the time to do improv. Im sure that helps but isnt necessary. In the class the instructors introduce you to the same improv games they do on stage. In little time, you discover that with minimal coaching everyone starts to get the hang of it. I took the 101 class twice and was surprised that even the seemingly shyest members of the class were having a good time and contributing funny stuff. The instructors do a fantastic job of fostering a supportive and fun environment. Definitely worth visiting this place. Makes a good date or good way to celebrate a birthday with a group.Just a note, dont let the family-friendly label lead you to believe that it is just a kids show. Most the people that attend the shows are adults. I took my in-laws and they loved it.
