This may be one of my favorite Reno over looks. From time to time it can get busy, but it is usually quiet. Amazing to see historical marks and take in view.

Couldnt find this place to add pictures, I thought it was called Thorp Point, but that doesnt come up on Google. Glad I finally found it.I was so happy I chose to head back to Reno on a different road than what I left on, and that I saw this place and stopped. The views here are gorgeous! It was nice to see other people around, so people must know about it. Unfortunately there was some graffiti and damage, but the experience of being there was still worth it. Another unique area to add to my collection, lol. Make sure to check it out if youre in the area.

Beautiful spot overlooking all of Reno and Carson City.

A cool little lookoit spot on the side of the road. There are some historical ruins of old structures or homes that use to be located here. The views of the surrounding area are great and well worth a visit.

Awesome viewpoint spot on the side of a nice mountain drive, there’s some cool rock structures one in particular has stairs that you climb to get a great view completely looking over reno and Washoe. Great place to explore lots of open land around

Absolutely BREATHTAKING views of Reno and the Sierra Mountains!! This is a MUST STOP for anyone travelling from Reno to Virginia City! Just be aware that Western diamondback rattlesnakes could lurch in the area.

This is a great little place to stop and check out the view at any time of day. There is a small rock to climb up and an informational plaque to read. There are several smaller walking trials that lead you down a small section of the hill side. It is frequently very busy during the warmer months.

Great place to stop for views on your way to Virgina city. Good picture opportunity! This is a must see when traveling to Virgina city. Take time to stop here but be careful on the steep inclines.

Beautiful scenery.

There was very exciting to see the top of Geiger look out. All the people they go there in spray paint graffiti all over the rocks and leave garbage are just ruining it for everybody else. Eventually they wont let anybody go look anymore because of what happens but all in all it was really nice it was just way too cold the 1st week of January 2020.

Geiger Lookout at Wayside Park, Reno, Nevada provides one with awesome views of the Reno/Sparks area.

Terrific views.

This is a very good point for viewing the landmarks of the Reno, Sparks, Washoe County, area. Geiger Grade leads to the old western world of Virginia City. The lookout area has been a point of interest for many many years in day and at night, viewing the many colorful lights at Christmas time or just the city lights of the norm.

Beautiful views of the whole valley, Mount Rose and Reno! Great point to visit to take some awesome pictures.

Awesome view of Reno and the mountains, we took this route up to Virginia City and every turn gave the passenger wonderful views

Great place to stop for a few minutes to see the scenery. Only a short walk to the overlook from the parking area.

Its not a bad place for a casual evening hour to spend with someone while you watch the Reno lights come on. But the memorial rock a bit further down has sadly been littered to hell and even graffitied on by people who dont care.

Amazing views. Hiking trails well marked. Handicapped paved trails safe and accessible. Clean restrooms along trail. Dog friendly on leash. Water fountains thruout. Challenge yourself!

Be careful. Very steep in some places. Excellent place to stop for some history on the way to Virginia City

This is a fun little lookout on the way down from Virginia City. There are some cool little hikes around and some ruins there as well. Definitely worth a short walk and a stop.

On a clear day you can see the whole Valley and beyond. If you get the chance to do this take a lot Of photos. And then go to Virginia City. It will be worth it. From My own experience. You can even go rock hounding and find a lot of crystals and other kind of stones. You have any questions just tell Google.

Awesome lookout over Reno..

This was park was constructed in 1938 by the WPA as part of the New Deal. There is no sign to mark the location, just some rock walls visible from the road and a turnout with a couple of trash cans. If you get out and walk around, there is quite a bit to explore. There are remnants of what was clearly a nice park with rock lined paths, lookout points, fire pits, areas for picnicking and a very sturdily built pit toilet . It is well worth the stop of you are passing by, and is a great place to stretch your legs, see some history, and enjoy a great view of the valley below.

I live up here in The highlands so occasionally while traveling home on Geiger Grade, Ill pull out to let another car go by. I suppose google recorded this as one of the places I visited. I guess I was too lazy and stopped for a few mins as usual. Well, please come visit...please! This overlook is absolutely GORGEOUS with some nice views of Reno especially at night. If you cant do the speed limit on curvy Geiger Grade, its not a problem as long as you use the turnouts.

My first outing to this beautiful location as we left Virginia Citys annual Chili Cook Off and the view was breathtaking. This is definitely a romantic spot for young and older couples.
