Our family has been coming to the Pioneer Center for many years to see the Nutcracker, various ballet performances, various plays, the Reno Philharmonic and the Spirit of the Season. We have sat throughout the Pioneer Center finding that we tend to navigate back to balcony which allows us to have a bird eyes view of the stage along with the talented Reno Phil.Although there is not a dress code for the Pioneer Center meaning wear what is comfortable for you with out going too casual (flip flops and bathing suit might be frowned upon - LOL) but for us this has always been a treat reminding me of when I was a little girl going with my Grandmother, family or friends family to the ballet or another performing art featured performance. My husband and I along with our family will don our best dressed with him in a suit and I in either a cocktail dress or gown to make the night special occasion as I have remembered from when I was just a little girl. There is a complimentary coat check to keep your jackets by will call so that you can sit comfortably at your seats with out having to juggle your coat in chair. The bar is cash only but there is an ATM on site, it is a full bar with wine, beer, alcohol and non-alcoholic options to include coffee and tea along with a variety of snacks. It is asked that you open your snack options prior to the start of the performance as not to disturb other patrons or the cast/performers (rustling of snack wrappers can be a bit noisy) so keep that in mind when ordering also there are no cup holders for your beverage choice as this is an older theater. Which with that being said leads to my minus one (1) star with no cup holder and it being an old theater the seats can get uncomfortable during the performances but the intermissions allow you to stretch your legs - thank you.Tradition in our family has carried on as we continue with seeing the Nutcracker with the AVA Ballet Theater troupe along with the Reno Phil every other year, make it to at least a few plays and an every other year of the Spirit of the Season if we are here in town.Pioneer Center has been GREAT about getting an excellent variety of performances here: Reno Jazz Orchestra, Broadway and family friendly shows - I hear this year they even have Baby Shark Live! and Reno Phils Disney in Concert. We look forward to our continued special occasion experiences with many years to come. Staff is ALWAYS friendly, helpful and we recommend you catching a show here soon.

Very good thought out seating arrangement but entrance space very crammed and not very inviting.Buffet was 1 star for selection and price. Ive never seen such a poor selection. I came in for Shen Yun ballet. Would it be nice to see some Chinese snacks and drinks. At least some teas. It was recommended on the ticket to come in an hour earlier and many did and very little to do.

They always put on great shows! I know this venue doesnt compare to a theater in San Francisco, New York, or some other major city but every show has been amazing. The staff are always helpful and the place is always clean, comfortable to be in

I have been attending many events at this theater since 1972. I hAve been a Broadway Series season ticket holder for the past 7 years. This year I am extremely disappointed with the 2 Broadway shows Ive attended because it reminds me of my childhood, listening to the radio with my parents. You can hear whats going on but you cant see it. All I can see this year is the back of the head of the person sitting in the row in front of me. I noticed many people throughout the theater experiencing the same problem. And the people behind me kept complaining because they could not see over or around my head either. This all makes for a very frustrating and uncomfortable experience. I am really questioning renewal for next year!

The acoustics are not the best for musicals. If you want a drink at intermission you have to go upstairs. The lobby area is VERY small.....way too crowded when they have a show. It has to be a show I really want to see to go there. It is not the most enjoyable experience as theater should be.

It is the best place in Reno (non casino related) to see a play, music, or other entertainment. The seating is well arranged so you can see the stage in the cheapest seats. Parking, if you are early, is plentiful. If not early, you may have to drive around a bit.I have been there a couple of times and enjoyed the expirience. I plan on going there many more times in the future. If you havent been there, go to their website, pick out something you might enjoy and at least give it a try.

Nice place for performances, however there should be a reminder made at the beginning of a performance regarding people carrying on a conversation during a performance. The sound system needs to be adjusted so that people can hear the performances better and so that people who are hearing impaired and wear hearing aids can hear the performances clearly

Love this event space. I have been here for many events over the years. Came to see Whose Live Anyway! Which by the way was the bomb. The venue is small and intimate with seats in the upper gallery. I think there are only two or three seats in the whole theater that might be bad. But, for the most part, all the seats have exceptional viewing of the stage (as the venue is smallish). The theater is downstairs but in the event, you are not able-bodied there is an elevator. All of the staff and ushers are top notch, friendly, knowledgeable and caring.Whose Live Anyway is a play on Whose Line is it anyway? You could see this show again and again and it would be different every time as this is Improv at its best. The actors were top notch and had us laughing right after the actors introductions. I cant wait for them to return.

I have gone to so any shows of so many different kinds in this venue and it is always a pleasure. It is small enough that the cheap seats arent even bad, yet big enough to not feel like a rinky dink set up. The acoustics are great for music and the lobbies are perfect for mingling in before and after shows. The one and only drawback is parking which isnt even really that bad if you get there a little early. I do miss the Nevada Opera, but I dont think that has anything to do with the theater itself.

A great place to see & hear wonderful theater, music, & dance. All the seats are good to great. No real poor seating makes for a wonderful experience. Quality of performances is superb. The restroom situation is cramped and sparce. Not many stalls for ladies and assume the same for men. With a full house, the wait can be very long. This could be improved. Ticket price is very reasonable and a good value as the performances are well worth it.

When the show time is given (e.g., 7:00) that is when you should be in your seat, with your coat off. That is not the time you arrive, and require everyone else to stand up to let you by and block the view of everyone behind you while you get situated. Hopefully this is not too difficult to understand.
