The park is beautiful, but 3 of us saw signs by the dump that the park closed at 6:00, so we agreed to go the following week after work, which we did. Apparently, they changed their hours, because the park ranger told us to leave. No problem, and we were all polite (telling him we thought the park closed at 6:00), and then he got very rude for no reason. He was abrupt, angry, and said we were TRESPASSING! There was no need for that. The 3 of us are all elderly and polite. We were all shocked how rude this park staff was. He should surely be reprimanded, if his boss saw his behavior. He acted as if he owned the park and we were doing damage on his personal property, which we totally were not. Our taxes pay for the park.In case the higher-up staff reads this, it was Sunday, Nov 22 at 5:30pm when the park ranger approached us by the picnic shelter and was horrible to us. The woman who was with us was very upset and bewildered by his ugly behavior.

Had a great time here with my buddies. I would definitely recommend this Park as family friendly and also openly friendly for all. They have grills located at the top of the hill for public use, beautiful scenery for photos and more etc.P.S. This is by far one of the cleanest parks especially with it being located near a dump.

This landfill has been transformed into a beautiful park! The paths are pristine, and the facilities are very well kept. You can choose to walk the trails surrounding the landfill, or you can walk up it. Drive to the other side of the landfill to access copies of the park map.I encourage everyone to walk up the landfill, if able. It is a slightly steep incline and consists of a gravel road. At the top, there is plenty of seating and an awesome view! On a clear day, you can see for miles, all the way to the Raleigh Skyline.

Few people there. Nice trail. Great birds! Amazing use and engineering of a landfill. Perhaps visit as part of a science or engineering field trip. One problem is: 25 mph sign is facing the wrong way on a one way road.

This place is an artificial hill with great views of Raleigh and the surrounding areas. There are three parking lots, one at the entrance and two toward the back side. One parking lot has a playground and restroom area. The hike to the top is an easy ~5 minutes. At the top, there are grills and benches.

Green Hills is a great park for hiking and bike riding. The back side of the park provides lavatories as well as a play area for children. My family easily spent over an hour exploring.

Great place for the kids!! My oldest had a blast on the web climber. Tons grassy areas for the kids to run around on and awesome trails for jogging/biking too. My only complaint (well my daughters) is there are no swings for older kids, just baby swings.

This is such a hidden gem. I was able to tour the park with a group of students, and there were very few visitors there. If you visit, be prepared to walk, because there is only one trail to the top of the landfill, and one road to the playground. Since it is located on the greenway system, the park is easily accessible by walking and biking. There is also a fair length of mountain bike trails and a trick park to check out behind the greenway.

This is a good purpose for landfills. Its a good hike to the top, and provides a great view. There is a playground for kids, and the opportunity for discussions about land use is great. I only wish they would install some informational signs to tell more about the landfill and how it works.

Didn’t know it was a repurposed landfill at first but we hardly noticed. There was some noise from the plant but nothing that distracted us too much. A very nice view from the top and a pleasant park for dogs and mountain biking from the trails we saw. There’s also a playground for kids!

This is the perfect Park to walk around while your kids play. A wraparound sidewalk gives you a view of the children at all times while also allowing you to get a little fresh air with a walk. There are a few covered picnic tables, but I love this park because of its open Sunshine. The best time of year to visit is fall winter and spring.

My kid refers to this as the park with bells. Theres always lots of kids playing and there are adjacent walking trails or you can walk on the paved landfill walkway. Ive also flown model planes and there was a model helicopter pilot the other day. There is flame thing that is cool to look at as well and overall the maintenance is excellent and the bathrooms are clean. One of our favorite parks!

Very nice play equipment. The metal has a special coating so that it doesnt get too hot on the sun. However everything is in the sun all day, very little shade. There is a large covered picnic area and restrooms. Connecting off the paved paths are hiking/biking trails through the woods. The playground is at the bottom of the hill and it looks like the only way to the top is hiking from the near the entrance.

Ive seen bikes and people up there and theres picnic tables as well.

Great park! I take my three year old every week weather permitted. Something there for all ages. Cant wait till he is old enough to hit the bike trails. The view from the top is well worth it. You can see downtown Raleigh from the top. Only down thing is the lack of swings. Other than that I give it 10 out of 10, especially nice having bathrooms there!

I was really surprised by this place. After all, it is an old landfill.Great views of the surrounding area. Its the highest point in any direction for a long way. Makes for a great walk to the top on a pretty day. There are picnic tables and den hes up top.It wouldnt call it hiking, if that is what youre looking for. Its a gravel trail up to the top of a manicured grass hill. But, its a real big hill. There are also pavilions and other things scattered throughout the park. Its a neat place.

We my first time and it was easy to drop things off in the different sections. I dropped of a small refrigerator that was not repairable, old broken printer and large broken monitor as well as an old TV that did not work. They also take oils including motor oil and old paint. A full service recycling and dump area. Easy to get in and out of.
