We went in winter so it it was a crisp wall with hands in pockets. Views of the inner islands of Cadco Bay near Portland, one with an old fort on it.You can start at the cliff/hill top and walk down to the boat ramp car park then wander the shoreline on the rocket beach, or follow the shared oath around to the bottom of the hill before walking through sailing/boat yards or back up the hill via steps.

Beautiful quintessential picturesque views with lots of benches and green space. You can walk or sit and just take in the ocean view. Bring a blanket and sit on the grass with a little picnic. There are hiking trails that go all around. In the evenings there is a community orchestra that plays chamber music. There are quite a few places to park all around. It gets chilly so bring a long sleeve something.

Monuments to check out and even a nearby steam train you can ride in the summer. Great place to watch the sunrise or sunset

Beautiful place to sit and look at the water. Any time of the day but especially around dusk. People were polite and saw a couple different groups of people in different areas in little groups and still able to practice safe social distancing guidelines.

This trail wraps around the coastal side of portland and connects the upper neighborhood and the walking path. It runs along a narrow railroad track (which is still in use during certain seasons). You can see Fort Allen out in the water and there us a memorial built on a hill along the path. Check it out. Dog friendly.

We visited Fort Allen Park and and the surrounding park/beach areas before leaving Portland, Maine. Fort Allen Park’s history is interesting and the area is cozy and a nice place for a picnic and to relax before a long drive back to Boston. We found parking on the street very easily, but signs were posted for July 4th and 5th that the street parking would be blocked for the holiday. So keep that in mind if you’re visiting during the Fourth of July. — July 2019

Took a nice walk along the shore, the trail is nice. Opportunity to kayak, with rental company available on site. Picnic tables available all along the trail as well as benches to take in the view. The right side of trail has stairs so if you have a stroller be prepared, but the left side of the trail is stroller/wheel chair friendly. These sides are determined as you are looking at the ocean. Restrooms available, small beach/swim area. Fishing area off the rocks. View of the cruise ship if it is in port. Free parking and dog friendly.
