Beautiful, well maintained urban state park. Easy to get to. Many trails meandering through the park. Some trails are for horses. Bikes are allowed on some trails. Dogs on leash are okay. Its a popular park and can get crowded. 98% of the hikers wore masks. Parking is limited.

Tryon Creek is one of Portland’s largest parks and it’s absolutely beautiful. Never in my life have I’ve ever seen such greenery! My girlfriend and I and our little puppy really enjoyed the park’s unique rainforest-like characteristics and it’s many trails to choose from. I highly recommend this park! Believe me you will love how peaceful, healing and relaxing it is to spend time here alone or with loved ones.Cheers Sincerely, Omaid

When you want the best and the best selection of the best, this is where you go. Hard to find bad apple in the bunch here. They do it just a little bit better. I have never found better meat or produce or seafood. The rest of their choices are over priced for every day shopping. Its more of a grab and go place. Everything you grab is good. Be careful how much you reach for. It adds up quick here.

Close to everything, easy to get to, parking and restrooms. Yet, as popular as it is, it still feels like youve been able to get out into nature. Wildlife, water, bridges, benches, hard trails, easy trails, views. This park has it all. Everytime we go, it feels like a new trail system (mostly because the foliage changes through the seasons).

TRYON CREEK STATE NATURAL AREAI enjoy Tryon Creek Natural Area but be warned that if you are going birding there or to looking to see some of the local wildlife there, then you may be thwarted by the multiple use policies of the Park.Looking for birds and local wildlife requires a peaceful and relatively quiet environment. The multiple use policy allows for horses and dogs in the Park if the dogs are on a leash and their owners pick up their solid waste. I am not sure if horse owners have to pick up their horses’ droppings but that sure would make sense. What is your guess of the percentage of dog owners who adhere to these requirements when they bring their dogs to the Park? Have you ever tried to look for birds and/or shy and elusive local wildlife with a dog(s) constantly barking or running around off leash and getting into tussles with each other with all the accompanying noise that produces? Please understand that I have had very enjoyable hikes and birding trips in the Park. Nonetheless, in a public Park, the public will want to do a wide variety of activities. The public will insist that the Parks policies allow this variety of activities which conflict with each other. For example, birding and barking dogs. This is just one example of a “tragedy of the commons” that results from public officials trying to please all users of a common area or resource with policies that result in conflicting uses and in many cases, the destruction of the common resource.

Im giving it a 3 due to the fact that the trails are covered in crushed rock which is very uncomfortable versus wood chips which are better for the overall ecosystem and more amenable to foot traffic. there are plenty of tine-spreaders that could be used to spread wood chips along the trail; It is far from an impossible task.

I love the hiking trails here because they are all shaded from the sun in the summer by trees, making for a cool hike. Dirt trails are well maintained, and are bordered by trees/stumps/greenery. There is a good variety of elevation at this park and bridges to cross over Tryon Creek that intersects many of the trails. Theres a fair amount of parking here and a Nature Center with bathrooms. Centrally located in the Portland Metro area and very easy to get to from all directions. It was easy for us to get here from Tigard. And it is perfect to bring our furry family. There are many different trails to take. Super fun! My 4 year old son and I had a blast. Trails are fairly easy for the younger kids. My only issue is with the people there. I saw two different groups let their dogs poop in the woods and they didnt clean it up. It was only a foot off the trail. I said something to the second group and they ignored me and kept going.

A nice nature park that is pretty big considering the size of the community its in. Mostly multi use trails but some specific for hikers. The main problem is horses are allowed here on some of the trails. Horses poop and trails and detract from the ambiance for all trail users. Other than that, its a great, close by nature park. Please keep your dogs on a leash.
