Best spot for EDM music in Portland and the surrounding area... Many amazing memories here including a few autographs from the perfomers!!

Bought tickets in advance for an event at The Whiskey Bar last night. Event page online said doors were supposed to open at 9pm. Showed up at around 9:20pm to find the bar closed and doors locked. Several other people planning to attend the event were standing outside the bar also confused. Terrible experience.

I typically go on Friday nights, and the few times Ive been there have never let me down. The music and atmosphere are great. My only complaint is the line for drinks can be very long, but its worth a check out.

Very limited area for stage view, poor acoustics if youre on the other side of the brick wall dividers, and the last time I was there they had no free water stations - you have to wait in line at the bar and pay for it. That is a major safety issue and below the standards of most event/club spaces in Portland.

Great staff, the outside area is really nice too!

The staff is always welcoming and the nightlife is always fun, Whisky has my approval.

Love the old vibe of this club but the show (AppleCat) was way too loud it just sounded like noise. Louder doesn’t make it better.

I was surprised to discover that this place had a really good layout for a great dance club. The acoustics were amazing and really made the music ring true. The DJ (the night of Aug 26, 2017) was actually the best Ive heard in months! Although water was only a buck, it wasnt a crappy thin bottle of water that makes noises just by holding it. So theres that. The outside area was a nice touch and allows anyone to escape from the beats and have a conversation without screaming. Always a plus.I enjoyed my time there. :)

Wednesdays are the night to be here! Wells are $3 until 11 and whiskey wells are only $2 (until 11 as well). The staff are super friendly and the music is amazing! Only $5 or $10 for an experience you wont regret. Plus they have an outside patio for smoking and everyone that Ive met there is fantastic and so welcoming of everyone.

It was fine for dancing and the patio would’ve been awesome if it wasnt raining... but two small vodka redbulls for 22$? Came to 24$ when I asked for the rest of the can, which was not quite half full. Not sure how that averaged to 12$ a “drink”, but I won’t be drinking here again.

I love the music acts they bring here. They even had free grilled cheese set aside when you walked in. But the bar only allows one drink per person. Meaning, you cannot order a double or have two drinks.

Came into to support a local artist and they shut down 5 minutes into his set with zero notification. We all paid money as a cover. We supported the bar by paying for drinks. ( way over priced. 8 for a single shot mixed drink and 5 for a tall beer). I do not reccomend this bar. Save your money.

The atmosphere was great, alot of energy. The space was well decorated. We seen Bailo who was awesome. I would recommend this place to anyone looking to have a good time. Water is free. as you go to the bar and ask a bartender. Although tips are welcome. There is a designated smoking area. a large assortment of whiskey to choose from. we secured club.

This place hosts some of the best parties in Portland. Great artists, great music, great sounds, great drinks, great everything.

Ridiculously overpriced drinks, extremely rude bar service, dont go here unless you like getting ripped off with lousy watered down drinks for insane prices by mean bartenders.

Never had a bad experience here. Friendly staff, great shows, cool space, reasonable prices. If you arent acting like a fool you wont encounter any issues at all.

The guy that works behind the bar with brown hair in a ponytail is a raging jerk who overcharged us for drinks and refused to take our food order. When we asked to speak to the manager he inappropriately yelled at my husband, I am the manager!! and had us all thrown out by a verbally abusive front door thug with no hair and waaay too much attitude. We are greatly offended by this as we had friends in town and were trying to show them a good time. Obviously the Whiskey Bar is owned by someone who does not care what kind of jackass manages their establishment therefore we wont be back and are telling everyone to steer clear of the dump.

First off, $4 for coat check? Damn its not like were at the Ritz. This is a damn club in downtown Portland. Secondly, this is a nightclub that DOESNT OFFER FREE WATER! Seriously yall need to come down off this capitalist high horse bs and give these damn ravers some free water. Youre the only club in town to charge for water. Oh and they dont have locks on the bathroom doors. Could you at least take us seriously as adults and provide a bit of human decency?

Awesome electronic music venue! Found this place totally by accident after wandering around the neighborhood looking for some real dance music. The place is clean. The staff is friendly and the DJs are world class talents. Great sound system (got a little too loud around 2am) but had such a blast the whole time. Definitely going back again soon!

Ok. Just best place in S.F. to have a drink. You just come in, and believe me, dont ask for a mojito. Just ask for something LIKE a mojito. You will have a marvelous drink. The bartender will take what you love, and make you the perfect drink for you. And they are good for that!The best thing about that its cheap! Like 10$ the cocktail!Just try this place!!

This place gets some amazing talent and luckily does not sell tickets before the doors open so the true fans can wait the night of the event and always get in. Theres several free nights but even with cover it usually wont go over $10-$15 price range. The outdoor smoking area is a perfect setup for getting to know friends and fresh air. The drinks are quick here and this place has amazing lights and fog effects.

Evidently, before this place was purchased by its current owners it was a very cool vibey place called the om. Now, they dont even have water available at dance shows. You have to wait in the long line of people waiting to buy drinks and then pay for a bottle of water. Is that even legal in Portland?EDIT: last Metta show I went to there had made an improvement on this point: patrons were given a small plastic water bottle upon entry which bartenders were instructed to refill at no charge. Nice improvement, yall. Bumping it up one star for that and we will hope to see you get better and better.In any case, it felt like we were not being taken care of. And, in my opinion, it is extremely dangerous for people coming to dance shows, many of whom are probably on stimulants that have them extremely dehydrated. Also, the sound system in this place is neither Basie nor clear: there is really only one spot on the dance floor in the center that sounds half-decent.

Whiskey bar + Rose entertainment = easily one of the top venues in Portland for awesome EDM shows with excellent sound and acoustics, affordable drinks and a fun crowd. My go to for a great night out!

One of my favorite spots to go for music. Rose Entertainment and White Tiger always have something going on. :) 10/10 would recommend!

Great experience! For $13,I was able to get a great wash and free vacuums.My back-up camera has never looked so good!Vacuum area has many stalls able to grab a hose on both sides of the car.

Change your description from Club to dive bar. This is an overpriced hole-in-the-wall.

I paid $12 for one drink and it tasted like water. I will never go here again. They also charge for water and have none for free. Should be illegal. This place is a scam.

Came here once paid $10 per person. It was worth it. Had a blast with my friend. They were playing indian mixed electric music. I was feeling the music and Couldnt stop dancing.

The bartending staff is obnoxious and impaitent with patrons and the drinks are much too expensive. And dont even think aboit ordering food they will lose their minds completely. Worst bar service in Portland.

Was there a while back. Had fun, But left for 15 minutes and they closed and kept my jacket. Slamed on the door for a while until the lady opened the curtain to glare at me then closed it again. Still pissed...I liked that jacket.

I went to the bathroom and people were doing drugs. I tried to order food and the bartender got angry. I brought these problems up to the manager and he did not care. This place is poorly managed. Stay away from this dive.

Great music, stereo, very friendly staff.The worst thing about this place is that someone decided money was more important than safety. This club does not provide free water which is an absolutely absurd policy for a club that plays electronic music.It is what it is in the edm scene you will have people taking stuff and dancing and sweating and losing all their water. This could lead to dangerous dehydration.... People need water and it needs to free..

The tall bald door guy who thinks he is mister tough tried to grope me and when we complained to the manager it turned out he was the most unprofessional chauvinist womanizer we have ever encountered. This club needs new managment the current one does not conduct himself properly and is inappropriate with his female coustomers.

I ordered a ginger beer and put $1 as the tip amount. The bartender charged $3. Maybe that works on drunk people but I was there for the music. Thanks for reminding me why I havent had the desire to visit your location in 3 years.

Good bar experience and usually pretty good crowd. Only place I been in town where they had the crowd chanting and singing with the DJ.

My favorite club in Portland. The cover is almost always more expensive than every other place, but I really think its worth it. They mix the best drinks, everything is clean, theres an outdoor spot to get some air, and they have the best DJs.

Why do I keep going to the Whiskey Bar? No freaking idea. Every time I leave I promise myself to never go back. Drinks are watered down. Staff is rude. AVOID!

Came to visit Portland and wanted to get a taste of the nightlife, and after reading some very positive reviews online we went to the Whiskey Bar. We each paid a $12 cover charge, as we were told there would be musical performances that night. What we ended up hearing was just regular bar music played by a regular bar DJ. We went to get drinks at the bar and found out that apparently you cant order shots or doubles. Seriously. You cant order a shot of whiskey at the Whiskey Bar. So fine, we ordered well drinks and were charged another $5 a piece. Out of curiosity, I politely asked the bartender what the reasoning behind this rule was and his response was dickish to say the least. Overall, this bar was a giant let down and I would never go again. Especially with a few great bars very close, The Whiskey Bar is an absolute waste of time and money.

Went to a show at the Whiskey Bar and paid a hefty cover. Tried to get a glass of water at the bar and was insulted then thrown out by a long haired short tempted irrational manager. Avoid this pitiful pathetic racket at all costs.

Disco balls, the bars were separate from the dancefloor, local artists displaying pieces. The music for this show was rad.

Well this place was a definite let down! Drinks are over priced and there was barely any one there... The only people that were dancing was a group of dudes (sausage fest) which was entertaining but also sad lol. And the music they play is electronic or dubstep which is only fun for the people who like that crap or are on drugs! I hate to be so negative though so I will say that the people who worked there were all very nice.

This place would get 5 stars but I dont like that they dont have free water in a place that sells alcohol.

Girlfriend and I went for new years. First the bar tender messed up our simple order of Mac n cheese bite and we waited for over 20 minutes then decided to ask if they were gonna be ready soon. The bar tender then yelled at us saying we ordered something completely different and commented on whether my dad ever taught me not to lie! Extremely rude and unprofessional! Never got our Mac n cheese bites. The same guy also went to his fellow bar tenders RIGHT IN FRONT OF US and blatantly told them not to serve us while pointing directly at us and making eye contact. Fortunately his coworker was kind enough to ignore his dumbass and promptly serve us. Not only that but my girlfriends jacket, ID, and credit card were all stolen from the bar!

The female DJ on April 16th, 2016, was awesome! She was really getting into her music too which made dancing fun!

Whiskey bar is the Bass head spot whither you love EDM or Dance music they have you covered! Such an amazing laid back spot that draws you in and keeps you coming back.

Shows are always amazing! Bar can be a little slow but venue is pretty good

Pretty epic bar. Loud, clear music and quick drinks. My only issue is that we paid a cover charge on a saturday night around midnight and there were less than 15 people inside. Would think theyd drop the cover charge on such a slow night

Im mostly writing this as a review to their business approach. We waited outside on a Saturday night at 11PM for about 40 minutes, we were 4 people away from the front. The bouncer kept telling us they were at capacity, which if you look inside and have been there before it was blatantly obvious they werent even half way there.My friend got in before I did and paid a $12 cover. I was let in no more than 5 minutes later to which they tell me I have a $15 cover, as does everyone behind me who doesnt get to see the DJ as long.I like the spot, and the music, but the way they went about their service was extremely unethical, and shady.

For good house music come to Whiskey Bar. Tired of dubstep and crappy remixes of pop tunes? Its because you need real music soun by great djs. Drinks were averagely overpriced but this is club bar life. If you just want drinks go to Kells nearby

Even with the good music and people that attend this venue I have to agree that this club is so poorly managed by such a flippant and unapolagetically pompous individual I will no longer be arrending events here ever again.

The same douchey bouncer always kills a good night for me. Really small and cramped. Not sure how they manage to get good DJs. Not worth a cover charge

Who knew that Portland had a decent electronic music venue? The Whiskey comes off as your typical downtown bar in an old building until the DJ steps to the decks. Their sounds system rivals any other professional grade system in town. And on top of that, theyve booked some world class talents into a tiny bar, including The Twelves, R.A.C, Mixmaster Mike and a ton of other ones. Theyve also got a stable of solid house djs so if you ever wanted to dance to something other than Gaga or wanted to avoid getting accosted on the dance floor, this could be your new spot.

This place is on the rise again theres new security staffed and new variety of shows being thrown, by a few different production companies, i enjoy going dancing here, with or with out a crowd. and all the kisses to Jenn

The manager with the long dark hair tied back tried to hit on my girlfriend and when she rebuffed him he threw us both out. Terrible unscrupulous people running this awful place.

I visited this bar on a Saturday night, things were ok. The music was fine the bartenders seemed nice enough. I was standing with my my friends when a guy grabbed my arm and demanded give me a fu**ing cigarette right now or else! Before I could reply he ripped my arm toward him and almost pulled me to the ground. I tried to pull my arm away and managed to get my arm free for a split second, the next thing I knew I was being drug out onto the street, still pretty much unconscious. Turns out it was a bouncer that had assaulted me. This guy had a tattoo across half of his head in a spiderweb pattern. A very scary looking character. I did absolutely nothing to have this guy visiously beat me, it is the most shocking and disgusting thing I have ever been a part of. This supposed bouncer never once stated he was a bouncer or that I needed to leave. He used physical force by which is was completely illegal and unneccesary. I have extensive damage now to my eye, jaw, both sides of the head, and bruises on my throat and chest. I am going to be pursuing legal action against this establishment and the bouncer involved. I hope this place gets shut down forever.
