Went today after work because I was hankering for a good margarita. Good social distancing setup on the patio. Which is just a great patio in general. Margarita was excellent as always. Would have had another but I felt guilty talking a whole table for just myself as it seemed to be getting busier.

Got to see one of my favorite bands here. Big Business was spot on. The sound was really good here. I was a live sound technician in Portland for a decade and I was impressed. They have a Midas analog board that has been kept in good shape. The sound is just right for the smaller intimate venue. I highly suggest catching a show here if you can. Worth it!

What a fun, intimate, and cool location in a super trendy neighborhood. The place is well laid out in an open and inviting space. It is a small space with tons of it. There is a bar and restaurant attached to the bar and stage area. Plus there is an outdoor space. Today was my first time. Easy parking, professional staff and clean space. Cant wait to come back.

Hell of music venue. True Portland royalty, as far as venues go. Everything here is very professional and consistent. Bar service is excellent. The sound system is ace. The room itself is very nice and comfy. The balcony upstairs has seating for folks who don’t want to stand through whole show, and the stage is perfect in many ways. Great venue, one of the best.

This place is a gem. A cool music venue and cool bar are rare things to have in one place. The bar had a cool vibe to it. The staff was nice and professional. Mississippi Studios was a nice venue to enjoy the Blackwater Holylight show. Sold out and still comfortable. Nice beer selection even though they have 4 to 6 IPA on the list. Not hating just saying. I flew in from Minneapolis for the show and definitely will tell my friends to stop by if they ever plan on going to Portland. To the people of Portland appreciate the venue/bar combo you have they are not that many as cool as Mississippi Studios and Bar Bar.

This bar has fantastic outdoor seating. Most of the area is covered and Bar Bar has installed heaters and a fireplace to keep you warm. I also think the window into the bar is a nice feature for collecting your drinks while outside. The inside is a little narrow so I would not eat or drink in there unless you cannot bear the outdoor conditions. Restrooms are easily accessible which has me liking a place more for some reason. Now Mississippi Studios and on a whole ‘nother level. Stadium style seating upstairs, huge area downstairs to mingle around, nice bar and great for shows. Go to a show sometime!

I absolutely loved watching Charlie Hunter play here! The seating is a little tight (rubbing shoulders with the people sitting next to you), which is no big deal for me, but it might bother others. I didnt eat here, but I did try ordering a whiskey drink called a Smoking Gun. When I asked the bartender if she knew how to make that drink, she looked at me like I was bothering her and told me no. She didnt offer to make me something else, didnt apologize for not being able to give me what I wanted, nothing. I ended up just ordering a beer on tap. I walked away feeling like that bartender had few drink-mixing skills and even fewer customer service skills. That one bartender notwithstanding this place has a comfortable, funky and jazzy atmosphere and I very much enjoyed my evening!

This is a nice and intimate venue for a concert. I went here for the Penguin Prison concert and at the end, the lead singer, Chris jumped down and hugged people in the crowd and talked to them. I don’t think many people realize that one of the best craft cocktail makers in Portland works here. If you’re lucky enough to find Lauren behind the bar when you visit she can unquestionably deliver cocktail bliss like few others in the city. Right up there with Rum Club and Clyde Common. Both as a performer and as an audience member, this might be the best venue in Portland. The sound is always very good: clear, balanced, not overly loud but present. The staff run the bookings and logistics very professionally. The space is beautiful. Also, being able to watch a band from above (or upstairs in the seating area, which is not too far from the stage, like the one in the other awesome venue, the Wonder) in addition to the regular way (up front, downstairs) is a great option. The burgers good, too.Ive seen some great music there: Doldrums, Michael Gira, Deantoni Parks, Empty Space Orchestra, and Curumin.

If you cant it beef, youll have fun trying to find something to eat... We were there before 3:00 so was able to get a fried egg sandwich which was pretty good. My great niece ordered a coke & got a glass bottle of coke that was made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup which I considered a great thing. Another of my great nieces ordered fried dill pickles, which was a new experience for most of us to try. My one nephew & all 4 of my great nieces thought the french fries were great - everyone who had the fries finished them off. Those who had the hamburgers liked them. So my nephews will most likely take their families there the next time they come to Portland.

I went there during the Mississippi fair. The service was really nice, I had a male bartender and he was very nice to me. The bathrooms were okay clean but I guess theres a lot of traffic so I get that. The food was very weak, $8 for just one sandwich was ridiculous. And it wasnt even that good. It did not come with a side or even an option. Chips would have been just fine. The Drinks were reasonably priced for that area. I will not be going back

People love this place - Ive personally never had a great time at this venue... both before and since the remodel. I cant tell you why Im not a fan of this venue - is it the long narrow space with high ceilings? Is it haunted? Or is the feng shui off? Maybe its all the skinny, hipster, midwestern white people? I want to feel as others feel because I love a small venue. Portland has some of the crappiest (bad layout or vibes or sound) venues of any city Ive lived in. This one isnt the worst.

Came into Portland to visit friends and go to a benefit show at Mississippi Studios. The place is beautiful. the folks at the front doorwere very nice. The issue a friend and i had was with the bar staff. As she was going to order a drink, one of the bartenders was a little uprupt with her. I went and ordered a drink with a different person. When i tasted my drink i told the bartender that it was weak. He said that he disagreed with me- that, it was the measurement of alcohol that it was supposed to be. I didnt appreciate that comment. I didnt see him measure anything. Ive worked as a bartender, waitress and other positions in the service industry. For me the saying the customer is always right should be a mantra that anyone that works in the service industry should have. You want a person to have a great experience when they go out.Otherwise why bother going out?! In conclusion, Mississippi Studios is a beautiful location but some of the staff can rub you the wrong way. P.s. Try the french fries! So yummy!

So this venue has a lot going for it: floor, balcony standing, and balcony sitting seating. Sound is good if youre in the main stage room: at a sold out show you might have to step outside this area and all the bass gets cut out and it sounds like youre listening to the show on a transistor radio. Drinks are in plastic cups so Ive never gotten one. Parking is a dream, lots of options. I will say though, and this is such a frustrating thing to read if youre part of the venue but its how I feel, I consistently get bad vibes and kind of dont look forward to going to shows here. There are a lot of touchy-feely couples on the floor and Ive seen single girls walk out of shows they paid good money for because some guy has started creeping on them relentlessly (and on one occasion the guy followed them out. Who knows what happened there.) I never see stuff like this at Doug Fir or Wonder Ballroom, things just go normally at those venues. I think having some sort of bouncer on the show floor would go a long way here; something weird always happens ten feet away from me at Mississippi studios and mars my memory of the show. Otherwise, good bands, good sound.
