For a club that claims to be 80’s and 90’s and it being my first visit....what a let down. If my over priced drinks weren’t so strong (some a little to strong) then my score would be lower. Decor wise there is a couple pictures on the wall relating towards the Era if 80’s-90’s, music wise as we were outside the music sounded like what I was expecting but maybe 20mins after we got in it turned to awful rap music no from this era/decade that no one had even heard of.After paying the $10 cover fee we stayed and danced, even though the club was full of creeps who kept trying to make advances towards people in are group. Bouncers were good about breaking fights up or getting the people out but unless you manage to snag a booth then expect to be outside on the patio if you don’t want to be body against body in the club because they will let it get very packed.

Jones is ALWAYS a fun time. The music is always great, be it current hits or classics, but they never fail to inject my night with a bit of 90s nostalgia.Of course, like with any popular club the line up at the bar can be crazy. But what I really care for is the ample floor space to shake what my momma gave me.There is a cover. And from my understanding a dress code, nothing crazy. I think They just don’t care for flip flops.

Update: I was once again stopped from entering because of a Mariners baseball hat. Can we please fix this issue and educated the Jones nightclub staff on Sports geography!I was wearing a nice Mariners hat and the bouncer said local attire only. The Mariners are the LOCAL team as they are the only MLB team in the Pacific Northwest. Great experience at the club, but the bouncers need to take a course on regional sports and geography.

I was really exciting to spend my birthday at Jones and got a VIP table. Service was ok.. my main issues was the Dj. I usually don’t ever ask for request of a song but my friend and I went up to the DJ to request one song and he literally took his hand to shoo us away :/ felt that was kinda rude..

Ridiculously long line OUTSIDE in the rain/cold. Interesting crowd... good if you like some throwback music. Not necessarily a good fit for all ages as recommended by friends. Long waits for drinks and super crowded inside. It was a Saturday night, so crowded was expected.Women’s bathroom was well directed by attendant, BUT the ventilation was awful and there was no door to the restroom... pretty awkward. They need renovation.Otherwise, all is well. Still a fun spot to go, maybe on a less crowded night when you don’t have to wait in line for an hour.

I was amazed that they were playing 80s music and all the young-ins knew the songs and were dancing. I guess we went on a good night. There were about 6 of us and we got one of the booths available. Drinks were a bit pricey, but it is a club in Portland, so I wouldnt expect anything less. There was a DJ and lots of people there. Not really my scene but the music the night we went was worth it.

Veterans listen! I liked this club because of the music that they play and that they let vets in for free. Everything changed when I simply used the bathroom. While using the urinal I saw an array of medicines and cologne available on the counter. I saw some antacid tabs and decided to have one. I finished, washed my hands and as I was exiting some big guy that was sitting in the corner stood up and blocked me from the exit. He said, How much are those antacids you just took?. I said, A dollar at the dollar store. He said, This aint the dollar store, you better pay me for those antacids. I took a step back and said, what. He immediately said, Security to the bathroom in a portable radio. Three security guards showed up within seconds. He verbatim told them the story exactly as it happened. They looked at me and said, So you either pay the man or we escort you out of the club. They wanted me to pay for a single antacid tab that was on the counter with no signs or inkling that it would cost me any money. I said Im not paying for a single antacid tab from a box that cost a dollar and is on the counter of a club I paid to be at. They said, sorry thats how it works here, and escorted me out of the bathroom. My girlfriend was out there waiting and they escorted both of us out to the street. Once we got to the street I spoke with the bouncer and explained that I didnt do anything but say what to the guy in the bathroom and he said, sorry, I dont make the rules then walked away. This is completely crazy to charge someone access to a club then kick them out because they dont immediately pay for things that openly look free of charge on the counter in the bathroom with no signs that indicate otherwise. A complete scam and should not be legal.

Rude, Discriminating, and such a joke of a clubFirst time coming here and it was very disappointing.First off, the BATHROOM ATTENDANT SUCKED. Lotions, perfume, and candy were displayed all around the bathroom sink. Went to grab a PIECE OF GUM, when all of a sudden the bathroom attendant swats away my hand saying “NOTHING IS FOR FREE HERE”I thought to myself, “Is she serious?”She was very rude and it’s obvious she wasnt trained to do her job as simple as that. Why have it openly displayed? I paid to be in this club, didn’t even get good bartender service and now your trying to scam me into giving you more money? The style this club is trying to be does not FIT WITH YOUR CUSTOMER BASE.DO NOT COME HERE.

Worst club in all of Portland. If you like early twenty somethings yelling and practically puking on each other, all to the tune of sir mix a lot on a very poorly tuned sound system, this is your place. I was attending a birthday party that decided to go here as a stop along the way. We waited over 40 min in line all to immediately run to the patio where I tried to get drinks for my party all to have a bartender with an attitude tell me as a 33 year old completely sober man that I could only order one drink at a time. Just awful. Pick anywhere else

I have been back to Jones a few times recently and feel the need to update my review. If you are going to call yourself an 80s & 90s dance club and have plenty of ambiance and decor to reinforce this idea you should be playing music from the 80s and 90s.The last two visits I have made to Jones have had a little music from the 80s and 90s decades with more and more current music seeming to take over. I really used to love coming here to get my dance on because the music was great and I knew what I was going to get after paying my cover fee. I now feel pretty reluctant to frequent this place anymore and it makes me sad.

One of the best experiences at a bar ever. I was an 80s kid. Loved the music and the theme at Jones. Staff were great once inside. Doorman had a lot to handle with how busy the street is. The crowd the night we went was younger, but everyone seemed to be loving the DJ. Drinks were on par with any other club on that street.

This place is alright... was debating on 3 or 4 stars... it’s set up for a younger crowd, but I guess anyone can come. It’s got a 90’s theme with the decor, drinks, and music (think Tang, cassettes, and Fugees). I mean... the DJ was just okay when we went. It wasn’t a threatening nightclub, though you’ll always find guys on the prowl in any of them. Drinks were a bit overpriced for the size. It looks small until they open up the other side later at night (so you’ll have 2 bars). Looks like they have a reserved area if you want one. I think they have an outdoor patio. Ladies get in free before 10 I think. Not sure if I’d go back. Maybe if the music was more dancy?

I have been to Jones multiple times in the past and have had good experiences, but after last night I will not be going back. Since when were the Seattle Mariners not a local team to Portland? The bouncer asked if I had been to Jones before, which I had. And worn my Mariners cap before. I thought it was a joke. I dont know why I paid you $10 when I couldve turned around. Where is the next closest MLB team? As upset as I am, and as ridiculous and unnecessary that rule is, I understand to an extent this morning. But youre going to lose a lot of good customers who dont cause any trouble. Maybe something to consider.

I almost never give 2 star reviews. I can usually find enough objective good about a place to give it three stars. However, this place barely escaped a one star for me.For a place that bills itself as a 80s and 90s club, they played very little identifiable music from that era. Also, the DJ kept starting and stopping the music and putting record scratches over songs in places that it really wasnt called for. There were several bachelorette parties going on along with a lot of skeezy dudes just looking to get laid. It made the whole vibe weird and creepy. With the music turned up so loud, you feel the beat rattling your bladder, the stuffiness of having all of those bodies in such a tiny space, the lights going off in crazy patterns that seemed more intentioned to induce epileptic seizures than add to atmosphere, and the suffocation of the chemical from the fog machine preventing you from taking a full breath, there is literally no way to be physically comfortable in this space. The grilled cheese with tomato and bacon I ordered was well toasted on the outside, but I had a hard time feeling like they should have advertised it as add bacon and tomato for an extra dollar. That bacon was nearly non-existent. The French fries were some of the best Ive ever had.The decor was interesting, fun and true to the 80s/90s theme. This, and the French fries kept it out of the 1* review territory.

This review is about last nights NYE neon celebration. My two friends, gay men, were told at the door by the bouncer that they were too drunk to come in. They were just standing there in line, not doing anything to act drunk at all. They had already paid for their tickets, they were able to calmly explain that they had already paid, and the bouncer told them that all they could do was sell their tickets to the two, visibly drunk, blond girls behind them. They were absolutely not belligerent, and they were definitely excluded because of who they are. They ended up counting down to midnight in the Lyft home. Discriminatory and so not ok.

They kept charging drinks to my account that I did NOT authorize!! We paid it although most of my party goers went to the bar to buy their own drinks because our server Brittany was so slow in taking orders and then complain that they went to the bar to get their drinks!!I think I deserve a total refund for an awful experience. Then finally after she has helped about ten other customers I raise my hand just incase she didnt see me. She rudely says Dont do that& walks off. I think a Sorry for the wait, what can I get you? would have been nice. We came with a large group of girls for a bachelorette party and she was also rude to the some of the other girls. A little more professionalism wouldnt hurt, at least a smile or two.Not here to bash all of the employees, I did later go to the male bartender and he helped me right away. And must say the woman working in the ladies restroom is a sweetheart, probably the best employee that the club has. When I asked about his hat, he replied its not a sports team, genius. Wow, okay.Apparently Jones does not allow out of state sports team gear (hats, shirts, etc.). Why? The employee collecting the cover ($10) explained its how we deter gang violence. In Portland, OR. We dont live in South Central.Furthermore, when your club is filled with security guards, and you still have a problem with gang violence you need to evaluate your staff. You want to know the best part? While inside, I saw two (2) individuals, one with an out of state soccer jersey, and another gentleman with a Boston Red Sox shirt. Hmmm...Drinks were poor, slowly made, and service was abysmal.Went to the mens room to, you know, do what we do in there. A large man (Im assuming he was the bathroom attendant?) stopped me. Before you take a piss-- then he removed an empty airplane liquor bottle from the urinal.Basically, if I hadnt been accosted at the door, I might have been inclined to look the other way.
