There is a tremendous amount this place has to offer to the community! I spent a day between the Japanese Gardens, the Rose Test Gardens (and its amphitheater), the Secret Garden, and the Holocaust Memorial; yet I feel there is still much to explore! Parking was scarce & $2 an hour or $8 for the day, but worth it considering all but the Japanese Gardens was free. I observed a huge and elaborate childrens playground with a large covered picnic shelter, and a tennis court. There are ample seating areas, and diverse well-kept plants everywhere. There is something here for everyone of all ages.

All I can say is that if youve never visited Oregon, you MUST. Ive lived in the northeast my entire life and had absolutely no idea of the perfection that is the Pacific Northwest. WOW. Washington Park was incredible. The trails are straight from a storybook and will take you past the most incredibly beautiful trees youve ever seen. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

This was a very nice area, with some great trails. This isnt a deep in the woods type of area and at times you can hear traffic surrounding, thats the only bad part. But the trails are nice and its close to the zoo, Japanese gardens and few memorials. Definitely a great place to visit for multiple things to do.PRO TIP - So when I visited we had rented a car, and paid for parking near the zoo. If youre going to just walk the trails drive and find parking next to a trails entrance for FREE.

I didnt realize this park was here. I was waiting for my 1030 time slot at the Japanese garden and decided to take a stroll across the road to see what others were looking at. Im not crazy about roses but this beautiful garden with row after row of of different types of roses was something to see. They have picnic tables just before you enter. This garden is amazing and I cant imagine taking another trip to the Japanese garden without taking more time to stop and smell dozens of roses here. It was like something out of a book. I definitely have a greater appreciation for these flowers.

Visited the Oregon Zoo - part of Washington Park. Pay to park at the meter or from your phone. (This comes in handy when you spend longer in the zoo than anticipated and you can add more time from wherever you are.) Zoo exhibits were clean and well kept. Large variety of animals with new areas under construction. Informative sign boards with lots of activities and spaces designed for kids of all ages. Snacks and food available for purchase throughout the zoo. Prices are higher than I preferred but not higher than expected. Pathways and exhibits are easy to access with stroller or wheelchair. The only thing I raised my eyebrows at was the train ride. $4 per person for a six minute loop. It was fun, but not worth the money in my opinion. Overall great space to visit.

Great zoo. A definite must visit if youre in the Portland area. Its like a walk in the park with all of the greenery. Plenty of open spaces for the animals, and several attractions where you can get very close to the animals. They provide times for feedings so you can plan your day to watch some of the animals being fed.Two more attractions are currently being built. The money habitat exhibit will be ready next year and the polar bear exhibit will be ready in 2021. You can easily spend several hours here. We have had a membership for several years, as a single mom the zoo is an inexpensive and educational way to entertain my kids. We pack a backpack cooler to have a picnic lunch on their beautiful and spacious grassy area. They have done a fantastic job facilitating a Social distancing friendly visit. Of course some exhibits and interactive activities are closed, but there are many exhibits still open. The directions are well marked and there are cute little paws stickers to remind guests what not to touch (for Covid safety reasons) as well as handwashing stations and sanitizing stands all over the zoo. This was our first visit back to the zoo since pre Covid and we are more than excited, and I feel comfortable with their safety measures, to be able to start visiting regularly again.
