I bought tickets for the Black Violin Duo that was suppose to be at the Keller Auditorium on May 6th 2020 @ 7:30pm but it was canceled and rescheduled at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on Oct. 28th 2020 @ 8pm and I guess it was canceled because I never heard anything else about the show.. I never received a refund from my purchase ticket that I bought online.. If anyone knows how do I get my refund back for the Black Violin Duo Concert that was canceled???

What a great place. I went here in elementary school over 20 years ago, and saw a Symphony on Sunday. It used to be a movie theater until it was almost torn down. The new owners decided to keep it and formed it into a concert hall. Its been preserved so its close to the original and very beautiful inside. The acoustics are good, but not like a modern hall. Good bathrooms in here. Nice and clean. Theres upper and lower seating with balconies. Its got a bar and concessions that are ridiculously overpriced and not that great. My pretzel was like $4.50 and dry/chewy. The cookie was decent but tiny for being like $2. You come here for the show though. Gray place if youve never been.

Absolutely amazing place. Theres not much I can say that you wont notice in the first 20 minutes youre there but its a gorgeous building with wonderful and kind staff and is a great place to be entertained. Besides the high snack prices and long restroom wait times, theres really nothing wrong with it.

I’d never been to an orchestra before! The entire experience was great. The Airbnb we stayed at gave us a pair of complimentary tickets. I don’t think I would’ve gone otherwise, but in the future...I will definitely go again. So much amazing talent in this world. Check it out!

What a breathtakingly beautiful place! I was stunned when I walked in to find grand chandeliers, turn of the century architecture, marble - oh my! I felt as if I had stepped back in time and I loved it! The Oregon Symphony orchestra is phenomenal to listen to, the chairs are actually pretty comfortable and the theater is even more gorgeous than photos can do it justice.

Saw Dan + Shay here and they were amazing but the hall was such a cool venue. I love a small venue like this where you can be close even in the bad seats. We were lucky enough to be in the second row which were actually folding chairs set on top of the false floor where the symphony normally sits. If youre able to get seats there, do it.

This place is absolutely amazing! I took lessons with an orchestra member and he recommended that I try the place out. I have been going to every single concert! I am a younger subscriber, but the quality of music for the price almost feels like I’m stealing from them. It’s absolutely the greatest in terms of quality, service, and respect for customers. I will continue to go there for the rest of my life. It truly is a central community for the great city of Portland. The work they do makes it a better place than one can imagine. Thank you Oregon Symphony for making my musical experience that much better!!!!

I just left my new cell phone in the concert hall after a performance. The staff was fabulous. The cleaning crew let me in the hall, the manager helped me look and directed me next door to the staff entry. The gentleman there thought is was already in the safe. The security guard went to get it. I was so impressed, and it’s Christmas, so I asked could I tip or buy a coffee for the cleaning staff? I was told “Oh people leave all sorts of things, sometimes money or wallets, we just pride ourselves on getting the stuff back to them!” My goodness, thank you all so much!!!!!!

A gorgeous Portland landmark! It’s always an amazing experience at the Schnitz. Be aware: the lids for drinks from the bar are often too loose for the cup (great for easy drinking, bad for carrying), and the very upper balcony is only accessible via a stairway (no handicap access, and be mindful of your high heels).

Wonderful acoustics and beautiful architecture make every trip here an unforgettable experience. This was the first time sitting in Orchestra, in row A, for Peer Gynt. However, I had forgotten how narrow the seats are. Venue itself was very beautiful and clean. Seats are tight but comfortable enough for a 2 hour length event. It was disappointing to see section seating not be enforced; people moved up seats during the intervention and no one stopped them. I understand if there are plenty of empty seats once the show starts, its very tempting to occupy them once you know theyre not being used but to those who paid a higher price to seat up front in the middle section and those seating at the very top corner ended up getting a good seat for the same pricey ticket those other people paid to seat at that same good section ..it just seems unfair.... but regardless, a good place to go to feel fancy and like youre back in time while enjoying an event of your choice.

Beautiful venue! We enjoyed the Nightmare Before Christmas. Although we were in the nose bleed section, we loved our spot and thought the view was pretty good. Only complaint is the long confession concession lines. I would have loved a glass of wine but the line was horrifying. I snuck out soon after the performance started and they shut down and didnt reopen until intermission! With small kids, we didnt have time to wait in line for the bathroom and snacks and drinks so we ended up noylt buying anything.

Beautiful old building, very ornate inside. We went to see the Oregon Symphony render Mussorgskys Pictures at an Exhibition. The performance was very powerful and moving. The music gave a shimmer to the room we were in, a wall of sound going from a light, magical tinkling one moent to powerful waves washing past you in the next. Standing ovations throughout ending with an encore applause at the end.

A friend asked me to join him for an event here. His wife couldnt attend. I thought it might be fun. It was inspiring. Storm Large is her name. She lives that name. Her helpers on stage were consummate. She must work out for hours each day to deliver that kind of performance. The energy and confidence was apparent. She even stayed after to meet and sign. I wanted to approach, but thought it was selfish of me. Maybe I will meet her at a coffee shop someday and talk about our journeys.

This restoration of an old movie palace is truly lovely! It has good enough acoustics to accommodate a symphony orchestra and a sound system that accommodates acts that speak a great deal, like the Pink Martini show we went to on New Years Eve.For a 35 year old renovation, the interiors are actually quite current without seeming dated. Restrooms are at a premium, but have sitting rooms, so quite comfortable. The staff is brilliant! They are good humored and can help in most situations. They were stellar for NYE. I came in from the suburbs, but felt like I belonged and was cared for.

Lovely, grand, historic old music hall. Home of the iconic Portland sign and - speaking at least for the lower balcony - theater seating that has about 1/2 as much legroom as a business class airline. Seriously, I am 5 foot 2, and not overwide, and I felt cramped: toes up against the next row, and very cozy with my seat neighbor. My 6 foot 3 husband was folded in like a pretzel. We still enjoyed the show, but it is something to consider when thinking about an expensive ticket! Dont bring your big purse. Dont bring your big aunt either. Its too small!

I cant afford to go the the Symphony everyday but when I do I expect to have a nice experience. However, I feel that the volunteers are overzealous and overwhelming in their helpfulness. The place seems to cater too much to rich old people and it makes younger people feel uncomfortable and unwanted. Way to invite the younger generation in!Drinks purchased in the lobby ($5-11/cup with a lid on) are allowed inside the venue which is nice. The sound is spectacular and the whole experience could be wonderful if it wasnt for those annoying people at the doors.

Just saw Neil Degrasse Tyson last night. My first time at this venue and several things were so nice about it. First, even though it was a sold out show, it was super easy to park.. several inexpensive lots are nearby. We used the 6th Street garage for $7. Probably could have found street parking for free but was nervous about being on time. Which leads me to the second nice aspect.. despite being crowded it was easy to get a drink, find our seats etc. Beautiful interior. Negatives: The show started half an hour late which was not appreciated and people were seated after the event started. Also, the seats are kind of small and the seating is packed tightly.

Portland Premier concert hall, this is where the Oregon Symphony performs, along with the top, most prestigious artists, in a more intimate setting then in the much larger Rose Garden Arena across town. Originally built as a movie theater, believe it or not, in the 1930s, the space has been beautifully restored and updated, although it can sometimes feel a little small for very popular events. This can also serve to improve the intimacy of contact with an artist.

We went here on Valentines Eve, 2018, to hear the Oregon Symphony perform and then accompany legendary vocalist, Johnny Mathis. Both were fantastic. As for the venue itself, its a marvelous old place. Very well maintained. The only drawback are the seats. I cant attest to every seat in the place; however, those that we sat in, in the lower balcony, were less than comfortable. We werent the only ones to notice this. There were quite a few people who muttered things such as the seats are too narrow or sitting here is killing my back. My suggestion? Invest in your patrons and provide better, more cushioned, seats.

Beautiful and historic theater. Feels like youre traveling back in time a hundred years. A beer is $9 and a glass of wine is even more so stop by the bar on the way in and skip the lines at the concession stand. If you have a choice, take the mezzanine somewhere near the front. The back corners of the lower side will have you stretching around trying to find a gap between the heads in front of you because the theater has a really low slope. Still worth it though even if you get a bad seat.

Beautiful! I particularly like the architecture, the lighting and the overall atmosphere. Ive attended an orchestra/cello performance and African choir performance here and both were fantastic. Dress attire can range from jeans and a nice shirt to suits and even tuxedos. In the two shows I attended, there was a mixture of attire. The orchestra/cell performance tended to have more dressy attire, but there were still jeans. Easy location with plenty of nearby parking but I typically take a Lyft or Uber. I would recommend arriving a little early, get a drink and walk around and admire the beauty of this hall. Then sit back and enjoy the performance. Also,: the seats are quite compact so if you have issues with your legs getting stiff, I would recommend an aisle seat so you can put your feet out a bit.

Seriously irritated with the “security” here. Went to see MARINA tonight. Beautiful venue and the staff selling food were very friendly, nothing wrong there. Got to our seats and a few security came by to let us know that there could be photos taken of the concert, just no flash or videos allowed. I followed the rule all night. About a half hour into the main act as I was trying to get a few good pictures by fixing the brightness on my phone screen, someone shoved me, right in the middle of my back on my spine. I whipped around and a female security guard started yelling at me about taking videos. I let her know that I wasn’t and she argued back that “you can take photos, but not video, which is what you were doing” and walked off.Edit: after writing this review/sending an email, I received a very quick reply from the director of event/production services, Brian Wilson, who was quick to clarify that it wasn’t one of their employees but an outside security vendor, as well as they were going to address this with that vendor. While the situation wasn’t ideal at all, I very much appreciate the help from Brian at Portland’5 regarding making sure my complaint was heard as well as ensuring something is being done about it. Thank you!
