Ive gone here for shows, free improv drop ins and now part of the level 1 class. Its always a great time. The shows are a ton of fun and they have many talented people on stage. If you are interested in classes here, Id like to start by saying I can be very shy on stage, but they are great on making you feel comfortable and helping you into going on stage with support, advice, and encouragement. This is truly an amazing part of our community.

Seems like a great group of people doing improv not-for-profit. We saw a 9 PM show on Saturday and it was lots of fun. Sure, it isnt Upright Citizens Brigade level of improv, but definitely worth seeing and supporting this local improv venue.

Find somewhere else to take classes. I just didn’t have a good experience taking classes here. If it was cheaper, I’d give it a higher rating but for the price of classes, I’d opt to go somewhere else 100 percent. I’m also reluctant to post this because Im truly being sincere. But if you were like me three years ago and you’re new to a city and you’re looking to get into improv for the goal to find a great place to learn comedy, I think you have the right to know you are wasting your money by coming here. I wouldn’t mention any places but you can find them yourself by looking online in Phoenix. I promise that you will thank me if you see this post.

Clean Comedy, this IS NOT. This was an 8pm show on a Thursday night. After 2 F words in the first sentence we were forced to walk out and forfeit our money, albeit a small amount. In fairness, they did accept my digital entertainment book coupon and the tickets were only $5 so I only paid $10 for 3 of us. I had emailed early in the day to make sure the shows were PG rated. I was told they are PG13 but since theyre unscripted, will occasionally get worse. I told them I wanted to attend but wed have to walk out if they got worse today. Turns out, they WANTED us to walk out and waste our money. They made some type of slur against Mormons within the first sentence, as well. In actuality, were Jehovahs Witnesses and that IS entirely different. I want everyone at The Torch Theater to know: We are not enemies to the LGBTQ movement. While we strive to apply bible principals in our own personal lives, people of all sexualities are welcome at our meetings. We do not get involved in politics, at all. Thus, Jehovahs Witnesses have NEVER protested against gay rights or voted against gay rights. Whats more is that we believe it is a sin to hate ANYONE, not just in actions and words, but even secretly in our hearts. 1 John 3:15 We DO NOT hate gay people. We strongly believe in the words of Taylor Swift, Shade never made anybody less gay! I had hoped that The Torch would be a place of tolerance where peoples of differing beliefs could coexist, but as it turns out-you hate us. It is not my wish to raise or lower your overall rating with this review. However, I will be posting this review on various platforms in an attempt to prevent others from inadvertently subjecting themselves to your prejudice.

This place was not funny at all unfortunately. Someone made an extremely tame joke and people were upset and offended when I was at the show. Im not sure if this is true or not but someone in the audience (all 3 of us) mentioned they have rules on what you can and can’t say which is kind of ridiculous. Go somewhere else. The people weren’t friendly and it’s extremely overpriced. I know that there is Second Beat Improv and NCT so go check those out. I’ve heard pretty decent things.EDIT: I have heard that they have two really good groups but I’m not sure what they were called. I’m trying to be fair.EDIT AGAIN: My friend said the review was too harsh so I needed to change it so I just didn’t come off as a jerk.

This is a little known gem of the city. A great night of entertainment at a low cost. Dont expect big crowds or a big venue but you can expect a big effort by local artists who are pouring out their hearts. I promise youll laugh and feel like you got your moneys worth from the experience. I attend about once a month. Who knows... Maybe youll want to perform some Improv yourself.

Arizonas home of long-form improvisation performances and training. The first Saturday of each month they offer a free, three-hour drop-in class which demonstrate the principles taught in their eight-week Level I class. Fun and fantastically freeing!

Ive always loved going to the Torch theater. Those teaching Improv here have been doing it the longest, and their founders are the ones who started bringing the Phoenix Improv Festival to AZ. They know their stuff! Always a good show!

Very tiny box theatre that has some great local comedy shows. We went for one of their Cagematch shows where two improv comedy teams go up one after each other and the audience votes for their favorite at the end. Winner goes on to compete next week, against a new challenger. Everyone we went with really enjoyed the show, even those of us who werent self-described improv fans!
