Great little venue in the basement of an old building. Plenty of legroom and the sound quality seemed pretty good. Fairly well stocked bar with quite a few good beers on tap. Water and sodas are available too. Also, it looks like every seat has a decent view of the stage.

The atmosphere is so cool, smooth and dope as if youve stepped into a more updated blues room. The vibe is always dope and the people are super friendly. The amount of undiscovered talent in the building every Tuesday will give you CHILLS! Underground Arts had a great vibe and the space was comfortable even though it was a packed house. However, for the comedy show we saw it probably wasnt the best venue, there are several very large support beams that cut off vision to the stage. Due to car trouble we got there just before the show started and there was standing room only, normally that would be fine but it was a hassle to find a viewing point that wasnt at least partially blocked. The show was great maybe just not the right venue for that type of show.

Awesome music venue in Philly. Sound system is spectacular. Great viewing angles for most of the place besides two big concrete pillars. Doesnt get insanely crowded and you do have some space to maneuver. Tickets for this place are also relatively affordable compared to other spots in the city. If your a band you want to see is playing there dont hesitate to buy a ticket.

Went here for the first time because their Snack Time event looked interesting. Cool venue and the food was good. Id give it a higher rating except that I felt cheated. The tickets I bought were supposed to include what was listed on the menu along with music. The meal was supposed to include dessert - specifically a fancy cheesecake. They never served any dessert. They had an ice cream cart there, which you could pay extra for, and which only had one kind of ice cream, which I couldnt eat because of an allergy. I asked three different people working there about the cheesecake and none of them had a clue what I was talking about, even after I showed them the menu I bought tickets for. So... that was really disappointing. Also, the ad for this event was deceptive because it said that there would be music by several artists. They failed to mention that all the artists were playing as a single jazz band. There was no description of the music to be played, just these names and googling the names didnt produce any results. I assumed there would be multiple bands...So, whoever is in charge of promotions should probabaly be a a little more explanatory in their ads. And they shouldnt say you are paying for a meal which includes dessert and then not provide it.:(

Came here for a dance party and had a blast. The DJ played an amazing set of songs, they even released a playlist of the songs on Spotify which was awesome. The dance floor is huge and awesome! They have another room connected to the dance floor and its filled with couches and chairs so you can relax and there are two bars. The bartenders are friendly. I am excited to come to more shows here

Went here for a burlesque show on Saturday. Good atmosphere, people were nice, good beer selection. Only thing a little disappointed about was lack of food. My sister is a diabetic and her sugar level dropped and they literally only had 1 cheese and pepper tamale. Thank God we grabbed it before someone else did or my sister wouldve passed out. Otherwise, it was a nice place.

Always loved this spot. Former bomb shelter turned Nerf factory turned Philly underground music powerhouse. This is one of the most unique venues in the Philly area. Its an odd little place that feels like youre hanging in someones basement but it also is great for the same reason. There are several obstructions, depending on where youre standing. If you dont mind GA and standing, its a cool little place.

I came in from out of state to see a show here. The look and feel of the venue is really neat and entry to the show is well organized and fast (probably one of the quickest entries Ive had) It is a totally different feel being in the basement/underground. It was downpouring for over a half hour and they wouldnt let us in. The line would have completely fit in the stairwell and saved us all from sitting through the show in completely soaked through clothes and shaking the whole time. The two young workers at the door could not have cared less that we were standing in an absolute downpour while they were nice and dry under the overhang. When we got downstairs to show our tickets, the man working was genuinely shocked and confused as to why they didnt let us in to that stairwell to wait.

I called this venue to inquire about what time they would open for the Jidenna concert. I was told, The doors open at 8 and the concert starts at 9. I then asked, should I come early. The response was, 7:45 or so should be fine, because we wont open the doors until 8. I did just that and as I type the review its 8:41 & I have been in a line that has not moved AT ALL SINCE I ARRIVED. This is EXACTLY why I prefer VIP. I wish that was an option...But moreover I WISH THE DOORS OPENED AT 8 AS I WAS TOLD WHEN I CALLED!

This space is an awesome place for shows. Decent size but not too big, three bars, two rooms. The room with the stage is great except the two giant pillars that are tough to see around- if youre short, youll definitely want to try to get closer to the stage.

Review №53

The location is easy to spot from the road, and there is a lot of available nearby parking lots (which are paid spots). The actual venue is in the basement, and once inside the aesthetic is cool and edgy. The sound mix, however, was one of the worst Ive heard. They turned up the bass guitar and bass drums, which drowned everything out except high frequency vocals. I will most likely not go to another show due to such poor sound quality.

The wife and I have been there 3 times, so far, and always have a good time. Its relatively easy to get to, and theres a parking lot directly across the street. The staff is courteous, helpful, and professional. The venue has a great visual aesthetic and intimacy to it. The alcohol can get a bit pricey, but it is the city. They do, however, have a great deal on tall PBRs. Underground Arts is definitely worth a visit if youre favorite band is performing, and there is always plenty of talent coming through.

This place is great! There was a concert I wanted to bring my 14 year old daughter to but it said 18+ only. I emailed them and received a prompt reply from a member of their management stating that as long as I was with her then they had no problem with her attending. Plus there’s a little corner area setup inside the venue where all of the parents ended up hanging out where we still had a good view of the stage!

I’ve seen many shows here and have really grown to love this place (even if Edgar Froese didn’t). You might be a little shocked when you first walk in to this cavernous (underground, of course), dark, but unique setting. They have 2 separate rooms with stages, bars and full setup. They have wisely reconfigured the original layout to much greater effect. The sound is great considering that it is essentially a concrete bunker. They also get really cool underground (see what I did there) bookings.

Id guess it depends on what youre here to see. We had GA tickets for a burlesque show. The website stated that it would be listed as seated if it was going to be - this one was not listed as such. Got to the venue and the entire center area was filled with chairs, all taken, so we had to fill in around the sides and back. With the four gigantic pillars in the way, this was not easy. Sight lines were terrible. This, along with the fact that it was unbearably hot inside on a cool night, are the two reasons I wouldnt recommend this venue for a show you actually need to watch. Im sure it would be fine for music.

Not really one to adventure out to places like this, but beyond happy I did! Very cool atmosphere and location, that was nothing but good times and music. Not overly crowded, which made the small venue very welcoming. Having light snacks in the kitchen and a room to take a breather from the music action were nice benefits. Only negative was the coat check situation which was not organized or an actual coat check as advertized. Will definitely be back to check out more events here!

They tried valiantly, but acoustically and visually, this is a terrible place to see a show. Huge columns make for awful sightlines, and cement everywhere makes for pretty rough sound.
