Love lake Oroville but the city needs to invest more into the parks and rec areas. Our kids need to thrive in this environment that we cherish so much. We should definitely look in to getting more stimulating equipment and activities that the kids can enjoy with their families and friends.

This a great place to come and learn about Oroville and some of its history. You will see displays from how Lake Oroville and the dam came to be to the Oroville Fish Hatchery and also learn about the Native Americans that lived in this area...including the famous man Ishi. There are great visual scene enactments throughout the Nature Center. I invite every family to come check this local attraction out!

The lookout is really cool. Giving 4 stars though because they said the binocular machines were free online, but they take quarters. The little museum is really cool. It is small, but has some cool stuff.

This place is so NICE! It is very Vegas stylish. Cant believe they have friendly employees at every door to open them for you. Our first day of arriving, we ate lunch in the Brewery Restaurant. The salad was awesome and the fish and chips were Alaskan cod, hand battered. My husband had the sushi and loved it.Went to the Tom Petty tribute. Very small venue and very fun. The band was excellent.Lunch the next day with the best chili I have ever had including my own, which is pretty spectacular. Delicious warm homemade bread and butter. If you are in the area, make sure you stop to eat. We have not yet tried the buffet. The $10 sampler of homemade brews is an exceptional value.

Loafer Creek campground itself was nice and clean but the campers near us were TERRIBLE!!! A bunch of young people were drinking and carrying on past midnight. We are a family with 2 small children. The neighbors were yelling and running all over the place. What scared me the most was aroubd 1130 pm they started their truck up and a bunch of people jumped in and i could hear a man say they are driving to the lake and putting the boat in the water!!! They were drunk and trying to drive off! Luckily they changed their minds. There was no campground host to monitor the campground nor any security driving through at night. Other families were there as well. I did complain to someone that drove thru the next day. A ranger came thru later. The group still carried on the next night past midnight again. We will never go back.

Imagine place where we can know all the history of the tallest dam in America, and enjoy the great place. You can visit the small museum here. There are a lot of thing to explore, you can select a film about the history of the dam or history of Oroville to watch in its theater. You can expand the knowledge about the dam, the construction of many different kind of dams. You can know about the life cycle of the salmon from the egg to the growing fish and how the salmon will come back the Oroville after few years living in ocean. There is a tower, you can see full picture of the Oroville dam and Oroville lake. The weather is good from Mar to Dec. On the summer, there are many activities on the lake. You can fish, boat, swim and camp... You can drive along the lake for sigh seeing. This is one of value great place you should visit when coming Oroville.

If you are planning to get on the water, it is ok, shorelines are sketchy. For all other recreation, the place is half closed, full of horse shyte and fema trailers (in case you taxpayers are interested, all the trailers are new and empty???) But it is cool for boats, big lake with boat-in-camps and ok fishing....

Lake Oroville and the greater Lake Oroville State Recreation Area is a wonderful addition to what the northern Sierra Nevadas have to offer. There are several boat launch facilities at the lake, both paid and free. The North Forebay offers some great kayaking, as well as the Aquatic Center that provides rentals. The Afterbay is almost always as smooth as glass, and all facilities are free. The only portion of the recreation area that leaves something to be desired is the Clay Pits OHV area. The Clay Pits have potential, but dont currently offer much for OHV enthusiasts.
