This is an amazing place to visit in NYC. Its so perfectly meditative and the works of art are deep and meaningful. It glows with a sense of power that is subtle and beautiful. The art is so spiritual and yet connective to even our current times and states of mind. Its a real taste of a time and place in humanity that still flows forth, but quietly. The weekly music concerts are temporarily postponed, and I cant wait until they start again.

Such a beautiful place with such beautiful art. There was hardly anyone there when I attended on a Wednesday afternoon, and I felt so at peace, alhamdulillah. The staff was kinda and accommodating and the atmostphere was truly wonderful. My new favorite museum. I knew within minutes.

When you call a place hidden gem, this is the exact kind of it. The building which consisted of three exhibiting floors is such a precious and fetching marble itself. The entire space greets you extremely intimately and closely as if you are invited to someones house rather than a museum. The collection--mostly by Nicholas Roerich--feels as the embodiment of the beloved humanitarianist before artist or intellectual notable. What a beautiful place. Would love to come back again in the near future.

Prepare to be mesmerized and mentally pushed to drop every single responsibility you have just to move to the mountains..... start a nomadic lifestyle..... travel all across asia and paint every day. Live free at soul. KIDDING aside (or am I ) this is a simply inspirational museum dedicated to an inspirational Russian artist and person. SURPRISINGLY BIG, bigger than his museum in Moscow, the exhibition spreads across three floors and covers pretty much anything you would expect if you are familiar with Roerich. Colourful landscapes painted in bright tempura that jump out at you and beckon you to leave your old life behind. Fave artist hands down.

I’ve lived in New York ten years and didn’t know that this place existed. I’m so glad I eventually discovered it. The works here are sublime. The quiet space feels like a friend’s intimate, glamorous apartment, which is ideal for viewing these pieces. Truly a gem on the Upper West Side that I would recommend to anyone that loves art, spirituality, and Russian culture.

One of the best collection of paintings depicting mighty Himalayas done by Roerich are exhibited here in a very homely place. Though not very big in size the gallery is full of mesmerizing works by the renowned artist. Art lovers, Himalaya lovers and mysticism lovers do not miss this tiny little collection in a miss if you wink place. Timings are narrow and entry is by voluntary donation. I am glad i got an opportunity to see this museum.

An amazing museum, similar to Frick gallery, but more intimate. It feels like a real home of an artist rather than a museum. You get to be so close to the real masterpieces that fill the space. As a big fan of Roerich’s artistic style, I find the whole experience magical. And small concerts on Sunday (free btw) will take you back some 150 years adding to this experience.

Out with my wife and son on a recent sunny day and my wife decides to surprise me.At lunch she calls the Roerich museum and asks if the museum is accessible and is told yes. She asks again, specifying that we have an infant in the stroller. She is told, yes, there is an elevator. So, we walk over and are met in the lobby (after carrying the stroller with our sleeping son up the exterior stairs) and told we should leave our sleeping child in the stroller, in the lobby. When my wife mentions that we called, moments ago, a call is made and someone will come get you.We are walked down a narrow corridor and shown to an elevator. Just as we are getting in a gaunt man starts berating the women assisting us.Not talking to me, or my wife mind you. This is wrong, no, no, they can leave the kid in the lobby.Im a fan of the artist. Ive worked with the foundation that brought some of his works on a recent tour... would never set foot here again. Disgusting people.Takeaways: The building is five stories. Stairs only. If you call ahead, assume the person youre speaking to doesnt know what theyre talking about. Plan accordingly.

I love the Nicholas Roerich Museum. If you are a fan of beautiful, spiritual and mystical paintings, this place should be visited. I found out about Nicholas Roerich through articles connected through one of my favorite authors, Torkom Saraydarian. I love the works of art because they have spiritual significance, and they all tell a story. One of my favorite pieces is the mother of the world. Its a painting of the divine mother surrounded by angelic beings and coated in beautiful tones of blue and violet colors. Depicted with an energy of light emanating from her head and body. Stunning! This place has been on my bucket list of things to do, so I was happy to be able to visit it while in New York.Theres also a store inside the museum where you can purchase prints of Nicholas Roerichs paintings as well as his books. The volunteers were also friendly and very helpful considering its free entry (or a $5 donation).Be sure to check it out!
