Facilities are pretty old-school, but there is a lot of amazing material here for anyone interested in the civil rights movement or black history. I found on microfilm some court documents that were destroyed decades ago, and I thought they were gone for good.
Some friends and I visited from Chicago and the exhibition at the time was Free Southern Theater. It was interesting to learn the historical beginnings of Black people in theater minus blackface. Its really just a resource center, I would recommend it for anyone with an interest in history (visiting Tulane University).
I had the pleasure of visiting The Amistad Research Center May 6th and 7th. I donated a collection the entire staff was caring and knowledgeable. Entrusting my familys collection to them was a very wise decision.
