We went and most shops were closed this evening. Went in and described that I was wanting something to memorialize my son, and Raven did my own and my friends tattoos quickly and was they are great! Prices were amazing as well. I recommend this is the place when you go to New Orleans.

Blair and Louie are some of the nicest and greatest tattoo artist around. I have several and no one compares to the care and easy hand that these two have. If you are in New Orleans and are looking for the best look no further than Forbidden Art. My daughter got her first from Blair and she is hooked now. Got 3 in one night. Beginning of the year I got a small, simple tattoo. It has uneven, wonky lines which wouldve been helped if they had put more effort into the stencil - they didnt want to walk down the road for new printer toner so drew it out by hand - shouldve said something but as it was my first tattoo I placed absolute faith in them. 2 star for the shop cleanliness and otherwise good time

So its been a week since I got my tattoo and all I have to say is I love it. Dusty gave good directions to follow for aftercare.The atmosphere was so relaxed not to mention Dusty had me laughing the whole time. I will definitely be a returning customer.

Loved them! Went for matching tattoos on a girl trip. I loved that Dusty told me to be quiet when I kept going on and on with questions, made suggestions on different placement on our ankles and talked us into black and white shading over color. He even gave us a thorough history lesson on the area and Creole and Cajun people and backgrounds. I’m so thrilled with my new tattoo, but even more so to have a forever memory of this weekend and experience! Thank you so much!

Before I arrived at this absolutely amazing shop, I made the mistake of going to two other shops that apparently didnt think my money was green enough. From the time I arrived at Forbidden Art until the time I left I was treated with respect and professionalism. Dusty is a serious artist and an awesome guy to boot. I’ve been twice and I like the atmosphere, but the first time Dustin did a super simple piece on my wrist that came out pretty bad, wiggly lines, cloudy saturation, etc, and then I came back and got a small piece from Raven and it was a great experience. He’s super personable, lines look great, and he touched up the piece on my wrist for me. Totally changed my perception of the whole place and I’m sure I’ll be back.

NOT CLEAN, NOT PROFESSIONAL PIERCER!!! I would give them 0 stars if I could!! Seriously terrible service. I got a daith piercing done by Dusty and he did such a terrible job that I had to remove the piercing within 2 hours of getting it pierced because it was improperly pierced!! Seriously he doesn’t know what he is doing and he didn’t clean it before or after!! And no care instructions or anything after leaving! Mid City Voodoux on Carrollton is 1000 times better, definitely go there!

I went 2 days ago to get my nipples pierced. The guy was sleeping when I came in. When I left I had to ask about care instructions cause they didn’t give me any info. They just said to clean it. No care instruction sheet or anything. When I got home I realized it wasnt plain bars, they had words in them virgin f*** me lick me Today I woke up and they were swollen. I went to a shop in town to check it out and they told me I was pierced through the areola, not the nipple, one was crooked, and that he used tongue rings. I would NEVER recommend going to this place. I paid $70 for 2 days of piercings. Now they are healing before I can get them done again in the correct spot and with the correct type of jewelry.

Raven Bones provided a really great first experience getting a tattoo for me. He is a very professional artist who is dedicated to being very transparent about his work ethic. Bones made sure I saw him opening new sterile packages of equipment pieces he would use for working on my ankle, providing advice on what health and safety signs to watch out for if I was to ever go to other tattoo parlors. I really appreciated that. He was very accommodating in adjusting any particular traits of the tattoo design that we wanted. His coworkers are really nice and fun to be around as well. I’m very happy with my tattoo, my very first one, and glad that Raven Bones was my tattoo artist. He’s a really cool guy, a lifelong New Orleans resident, who is very down-to-earth and kind. I hope to go back one day if I want another tattoo in the future.

Came in randomly on a trip just thinking about something simple. Dusty asked what we had interest in and after showing him some concepts he asked if he could also touch up some older work. Not only did he call out exactly what I was looking for, he made recommendations for the style so it flowed with my other pieces. My boyfriend got a piece he had been thinking about for ages and not only was it well designed he executed perfect circles, a cover up and a band around the arm in no time. Love this spot!

First off thanks for the save Dusty. I started off at hell or high water that must be a reference to their prices. Then they was so one dimensional in my drawing. Me and my girlfriends came into town on vacation and wanted to get a tattoo, after looking and calling around we decided Forbidden tattoo was the right place for us. The price was more then fair and the gentleman at the counter, I belive to be the owner, was absolutely awesome! He was so helpful and very nice. The tattoo artist Dusty was able to take a drawing of mine and make it exactly the was we wanted it! He was very funny and nice. My Sister in Law went in to get her nipples pierced. First of all the piercer was asleep when we walked in. When we got back there he was talking bad about another tattoo artist who just happened to be my aunt. Never in my life have I heard of another artist talking smack about another artist. He pierced one of her aerolas instead of the nipple which cause painful swelling and bruising and the piercings he put in her nipples turned out to be tongue piercings so now she has to let them close to redo them. I would never recommend going to place because of the hate that he talked about another artist, but even more that a piercer DOESNT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TONGUE PIERCING AND A NIPPLE PIERCING. Please never go here. Wish I could give 0 stars.

Bravo Universe! We called and they said come on over. Blair was our artist. She was amazing. She drew up our ideas and got us started right away. She was a pleasure to work with. I have never had a better experience anywhere. ( and Im covered in art) She made sure we were happy with the art before she started. This girl got mad skills! I would highly recommend her to anyone going to New Orleans. I gotta say when my boyfriend picked out our tattoos I was skeptical of getting a zombie lady on me for life.....but with Blairs skill....she made it look amazing. Its now my favorite piece of art. I got my first tattoo at Forbidden Art while on vacation in New Orleans. Trey was welcoming and professional. We hit it off right away. I felt comfortable throughout the experience, feeling like I was in good hands. He did a great job on my tattoo, the lines were tight, bold and solid, just the way I wanted. It looks fantastic. I am so glad I got the work done there. I recommend Trey without reservation. I am a very happy customer and will love this tattoo for the rest of my life!

If I remember correctly, Dustin is the artist that did my tattoo. Great guy that doesnt have a heavy hand like other artists thats done a tat on me. Just needs a drink machine and colder A/C & would have gotten 5 stars. Go by and say Hi to Dusty & tell him the Hillbilly Chief sent ya.

I do not recommend this place to anyone. They do not follow cleanly guidelines. I got my ear pierced and when I got home the earring fell out. When I called to complain to the owner he hung up on me. So I drove over and they jammed another earring in my ear except a hoop. They let me walk out with my ear dripping. The owner basically blamed me for the earring falling out and them not using a back on the earring. Do not use this place!!! Mid city voo doo is a much better experience. I wouldn’t even give this place one star but it’s making me.

Came to New Orleans for the Essences Music Festival. At 1:00 my friends and I decided to go get tattoos and piercings. We walked in and Blair was very welcoming! She helped us to pick out tattoos and was very patient with helping us pick out font styles while also easing our nerves. The shop was very clean and the small tattoos that we got we were in and out in 20 minutes! I would highly recommend this place!!

Very nice staff, clean shop and well priced. BUT I had a small tattoo done on my foot and not only was it not completely finished (I noticed later that some of the outline was just the temporary ink) but after it healed, all of the shading flaked off with my skin! I can only assume that it was not done deep enough and now all of the dark area of my tattoo looks terrible. I initially loved the design and now it looks nothing like the drawing she started with

Low quality, everyone hanging out in the parlor with the artists was seemingly stoned out of their minds. I gave very clear photos and specifications. This was how it turned out... gonna get it fixed somewhere else... DO NOT GO HERE!

Went here with some co workers after work to get a tattoo... I hate listening to reviews because everyones experience is different but man do I regret that. The people that work there were friendly enough but the artist just seemed to want to get it over with. He worked on my finger for maybe 15 minutes and then told me I was done and moved on to my co worker who was in the chair for roughly the same amount of time. Its been about 3 weeks since but I wanted to give myself proper healing time before jumping the gun. My tattoo is blown out and uneven, and in going to a shop down the street, they said that I may also have nerve damage based off of me saying that theres sharp zings whenever it gets hit on something (its completely healed at this point... its blown out, the fading didnt stick and I had another shop fix it, thank god! Do NOT waste your money here because I guarantee they wont give it back

Stumbled across this shop because it was close to my hotel. Went in to get some pricing at 11:30 pm and loved the staff and their work. My party of 4 left after 2:30AM with 2 new tattoos, 1 color touch up, and a sketch. We were very happy with our artist Eric Quinn and our front desk helper T. Nothing like New Orleans hospitality! Was thrilled to see all of the melanin poppin!

My wife and I stopped in, when we started telling the guy what we wanted he pointed to a guy sleeping on a couch and yelled to him Roy(not real name) you have a customer. Roy seemed drunk, and or possibly high but definitely not coherent enough to speak let alone put ink into my body. Roy then quoted us $150...paused for a second ...$160 for two tattoos that would have been no bigger than half a pinky finger each. Needless to say we left Roy and the forbidden tattoo shop. I wouldnt recommend them at all, felt like they were trying to rip us off and didnt even try to be sly about it.

I was in vacation in NOLA and wanted to get my first tattoo. While riding a streetcar, I saw Forbidden Art. I did my research and called to see if an appointment was necessary. Not only was I able to come right in, but Ryan took very good care of me. I was so nervous and the experience was much better than I ever thought it could have been. Everyone in the shop made sure I was at ease and they did a great job talking me through the whole experience. I highly recommend Forbidden Art!!!

Raven Bones is phenomenal, got a simple design done in a sensitive spot on my foot. The work was done elegantly with precision and although the design was simple, it was as tastefully done as I couldve hoped. Top class man from my experience

My bf and I went to NOLA for our 1 year anniversary in Sept 2014 and ended spending a significant amount of time at Forbidden Art. Rain added to one of my tattoos and did 2 more on my back...over 3 days lol. My bf got a tattoo on his foot and some other ink touched up on his sleeve. Everyone was super nice and we had a great time. Were going back next month and will definitely be stopping by for another tattoo!
