We purchased a few of Joses prints at a festival in New Orleans. He agreed to ship them to our home so we wouldnt have to be concerned with them being damaged on the flight back. He informed us that he was running a little behind due to Christmas and would get them out as soon as possible.We received them approximately 10 days later. After taking them to the frame shop we recognized what appeared to be a small bit of damage on one print. I contacted Jose and he sent me a new one immediately. I am happy to report that we now have a series of three of Joses prints framed and displayed prominently. Beautiful prints, excellent customer service.

Eight One Eight... go there!The photography is stunning - strong, quirky and dynamic images of this incredible city we all love so much (not to mention some great out-of-town and international pieces too).Nola is a magical one-of-a-kind city, difficult to express in words or images. Somehow Jose and Cecelia manage to capture its sound, movement and essence in their powerful photography. They are New Orleans locals and their artistic vision is one of love and respect towards their community, and this really shines through in their work.I popped into the gallery a few times, partly to try to decide which piece I wanted to buy, and partly just to chat - Jose is so friendly and had some great local tips and stories to share. He ended up inviting me back to Eight One Eight to celebrate Dirty Linen Night - the evening where all the galleries on Royal St throw parties. Such a great evening with him and Cecelia!I ended up buying a stunning print of a second line parade in Treme as there were some local faces I recognised in the photo, but there were so many great pieces it was hard to choose! I miss Nola and so this print is very precious to me.Thanks Jose and Cecelia - it was an immense pleasure to meet you. When Im back in Nola Ill definitely swing by the gallery again.

I visited New Orleans and I was lucky enough to discover this gallery because I was attracted by its name and of course because it looked very promising to me from the outside and eventhough its cheesy to say it that way but I really fell in love with the language Jose Fernandes is using in his pictures and the gallery itself feelt very comfortable to me, I dont know how to put it right - its just an awesome place!Even if you are not very familiar with photography or art in general you should just take the chance to have a look around, because Im sure you will find good people there and a great atomsphere!I dealt with the shipping myself for certain reasons but since Im from Germany they offered to deal with the shipping which Im sure they would have done better than I did, because I ended up paying more money in total than what they asked me for!Very good website too, as I discovered today!Go see the gallery if you have a chance its really worth it!! (and its for free!!)
